PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of job demand and recovery experience from job stress on job embeddedness among workers in the service industry. METHODS: The participants were 223 workers from the service industry in P and Y Cities with the help of a structured self-report questionnaire, administered between July 10 and August 20, 2017. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression. RESULTS: There were significant differences in job embeddedness in terms of satisfaction with salary, continuous service, perceived stress level and the perceived health status of the subjects. There were significant positive correlations between role clarification in job demands (r=.55), recovery experience from job stress (r=.27) and job embeddedness. From the multiple regression analysis, the most significant factors affecting job embeddedness were found to be role clarification in job demands (β=.47), recovery experience from job stress (β=.23), and perceived stress level (β=.18). These variables explain 34.0 % of the total variance in job embeddedness. CONCLUSION: In order to increase job embeddedness among workers in the service industry, it is necessary to prepare measures to increase recovery experience from job stress and to decrease role clarificationin job demand, and perceived stress level.

Journal of Gastric Cancer 2011;11(4):234-238
A 67 year old male at a regular checkup underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy. On performing esophagogastroduodenoscopy, a lesion about 1.2 cm depressed was noted at the gastric angle. The pathology of the biopsy specimen revealed a well-differentiated adenocarcinoma. On performing an abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan & positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) scan, no definite evidence of gastric wall thickening or mass lesion was found. However, lymph node enlargement was found in the left gastric and prepancreatic spaces. This patient underwent laparoscopic assisted distal gastrectomy and D2 lymph node dissection. On final examination, it was found out that the tumor had invaded the mucosal layer. The lymph node was a metastasized large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma with an unknown primary site. The patient refused chemotherapy. He opted to undergo a close follow-up. At the postoperative month 27, he had a focal hypermetabolic lesion in the left lobe of the liver that suggested metastasis on PET-CT scan. He refused to undergo an operation. He underwent a radiofrequency ablation.

Nitric oxide (NO) elevates intracellular calcium. But the actions of calcium in NO-induced cell death are not well understood. This study was carried out to investigate the signal transduction pathways of calcium and NO-induced cytotoxicity in H9c2 cardiac myoblasts by using NO donor compounds such as sodium nitroprusside (SNP) and S-nitroso-N-acetylpenicillamine (SNAP). Pretreatment of intracellular calcium chelating agent (BAPTA/AM) or L-type calcium channel blockers (nicardipine, nifedipine, diltiazem and veraparmil) or T-type calcium channel blocker (flunarizine) blocked SNP-induced cytotoxicity respectively only in a three hours. However, thapsigargin (TG), which inhibits endoplasmic reticulum dependent Ca(2+)-ATPase and thereby increases cytosolic Ca(2+), augmented SNP-induced cytotoxicity. The protective effect of BAPTA/AM was inhibited by treatment of protein synthesis inhibitor, cyclohexamide. In addition, pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC), NF-kB inhibitor, attenuates the protective effect of BAPTA/AM against SNP-induced cytotoxicity. It is indicated that the protective effect of BAPTA/AM against NO-induced cytotoxicity might be due to the expression of protein related to activation of NFkB. From these results, it is concluded that SNP-induced cytotoxicity is mediated by calcium in a 3 hours via down regulation of protein expression rleated to activation of NFkB.

BACKGROUND: Identification of the genes expressed differentially in renal cell carcinoma (RCC)but not in the non-cancerous kidney is important for understanding the molecular basis ofrenal cell carcinoma and for defining possible prognostic value and therapeutic intervention. We investigated the changes in gene expression accompanying the development and progression of kidney cancer by cDNA microarrays. METHODS: To identify molecular alterations in renal cell carcinoma, we measured expression profiles for paired neoplastic and noncancerouskidney samples from an individual by means of a cDNA microarry representing 7, 500genes. Of the differentially expressed genes, we assessed the decorin gene at the proteinlevel using immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: The 60 genes were noted to have more than a fivefold change in expression (either increased or decreased) in RCC compared to the noncancerouskidney. The changed genes are those associated with signal transduction, metabolizingenzymes, the cytoskeleton, cell adhesion, cell cycle control, modulation of transcription, the tumor suppressor gene and tumor antigens. Under immunohistochemistry, the expressionof decorin was significantly decreased in the tumor than in the non-cancerous kidney. The expression rate of decorin was not associated with the patient's sex, age, histologic type, Fuhrmann nuclear grade and T stage. CONCLUSION: The author predicted that these geneexpression profiling experiments will lead to improvements in the basic understanding of renaltumor pathogenesis and will promote the discovery of novel molecular markers for renal tumordiagnosis and therapy.

C-T guided stereotactic early burr hole aspirations performed on 106 spontaneous deep intracerebral hematoma patients in the Department of Neurosurgery, Kyungpook University Hospital, between January 1992 and December 1993. For average five days following the operation, continual urokinase(UK) irrigation was done for complete removal of the remaining hematoma. Of the patients, 73 who were operated on within three days of bleeding ictus were chosen for analyses and evaluation by factors believed to affect the final results. Eighty six percent was found to have hypertension as it's cause. The hematoma was removed completely in 13.7% of all the patients on post operation 1st day and 45% within 7 days by urokinase irrigation. The site of hematoma in thalamocapsulo-lenticular area showed a rather poor remission rate compared with those in other locations along with a higher mortality rate. By comparison between the time of admission and discharge, the state of consciousness of patients showed much improvement with 440% of the number of alert patients on discharge:motor function also showed significant improvement with 450% good patients number. In case of poor state of consciousness or motor function on admission, the mortality rate was higher. Rebleeding after aspiration was found in 6.8% and in all the cases except one the operation was done within 24 hours of bleeding, which resulted in poor postoperative outcome without improvement. Pneumonia was most common complication during admission followed by hydrocephalus. Mortality rate was 8.2%, most of which resulted from direct brain damage through bleeding. This surgical method is simple, safe and efficient in treating spontaneous deep intracerebral hematoma with no significant outcome difference when compared with early craniotomy.

We report the first de novo case of a heterochromatic duplication on the long arm of the chromosome 9, which then was pericentrically inverted at p11q13. This condition was detected prenatally and carry to term. We then performed the follow up for over 1 year. So far, there seems to be no phenotypical abnormalities.

Anterior diastemas are common esthetic problems. One of the challenges in clinical esthetic dentistry is closing anterior diastemas without creating “black triangles” between the teeth. The success of a restorative treatment in anterior teeth depends on the esthetic integration between soft tissues and hard tissues. This report describes the successfully accomplished diastema closure case by producing the emergence profile with natural contours at the gingival-tooth interface and then generating of gingival recontouring process.

Journal of the Korean Academy of Family Medicine 1999;20(12):1752-1760
BACKGROUND: Assessment of aerobic capacity (VO2max) is one of the essential components in exercise prescription for health promotion and maintenance. This study was conducted to compare the validity of four exercise tests to assess aerobic capacity in young adult male subjects by comparing them to the values measured from maximal ergometer exercise test (criterion VO2max). METHODS: Twenty young healthy adult males (M+/-SD=21.1+/-1.5 years) volunteered as subjects. Criterion VO2max was calculated and printed out automatically by computerized analysis system of expired air samples collected during maximal ergometer exercise test. VO2max was estimated for each subject from heart rate at submaximal workloads on the cycle ergometer using the Astrand-Rhyming nomogram(A/R) and Fox protocol(FOX) and the computerized multiple extrapolation method (XTP). The score got from Havard step test(H/S) was used to compare the validity. The validity of the procedures was based on the evaluation of the predicted VO2max (from A/R, FOX, XTP, and H/S) versus the criterion VO2max via the calculation of constant error (CE=mean difference for predicted minus criterion VO2max), r value, standard error of the estimate[SEE=SD(1-r2)(1/2)], total error [TE=(sigma(predicted VO2max - criterion VO2max)(2)/n)(1/2)]. RESULTS: In relation to criterion VO2max, the XTP and A.R underpredicted (XTP: 40.8 ml/kg/min SD=4.1; A/R: 37.3 ml/kg/min SD=5.0) and the H/S and FOX overpredicted (H/S: 48.0 ml/kg/min SD=5.9: FOX 46.3 ml/kg/min SD=5.5). Dunnett post-hoc procedures revealed that there were significant (P<0.05) mean differences (CE) for VO2max from A/R versus criterion. The validity coefficients for VO2max derived from XTP, H/S, A/R, and FOX were 0.68, 0.53, 0.50, and 0.49, respectively. TE of the XTP, FOX, H/S and A/R, which accounts for the effects of both the CE and SEE, were 5.73, 6.13, 6.75, and 8.87, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that the XTP is recommended first for estimation VO2max in young adult males. It is also considered that further studies about female and other age groups are necessary.
