Pseudoaneurysm is uncommon but a life threatening complication of chronic pancreatitis. Angiography has been the standard definitive imaging modality in the diagnosis of pseudoaneurysm. However, over the past 5 years duplux US and Dynamic CT have been proven to be valuable. The authors report a case of gastroduodenal pseudoaneurysm in chronic pancreatitis, which could be diagnosed by duplux US and Dynamic CT. Furthermore this case proved to be a pseudocyst which converted into a pseudoaneurysm by vessel rupture.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to explore human rights sensitivity and the perception of patients' rights among nursing students. For the study, 253 nursing students from K and D universities located in Daegu and the Gyeongbuk region were asked to participate. METHODS: Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0; in addition, descriptive statistics, a t-test, and a one-way ANOVA were used. RESULTS: The average human rights sensitivity score was 2.40 out of 5 points. Human rights sensitivity was significantly different in education experiences in regards to human rights after getting into nursing school and in nursing courses, as well as experiences of clinical practice. Among the six episodes that measured human rights sensitivity, nursing students reported the highest score on the right to the pursuit of happiness of older people and the lowest score was reported on the right to privacy. The average score of patients' rights perception was 4.53 out of 5 points. In particular, nursing students considered the right to enjoy human worth/dignity and the right to equality to be the most important of patients' rights. Patients' rights perception, in general, was significantly different depending on the number of family members. CONCLUSION: It is needed to develop an effective nursing curriculum in order to improve nursing students' human rights sensitivity and foster positive perceptions regarding patients' rights.

PURPOSE: This prospective pilot study is a part of the Korean NIH's effort to characterize con- genital anomalies and genetic disorders in Korea and to establish a National Genetic Database. METHODS: This population-based study was conducted at all hospitals that deliver in the province of Suwon; a total of 39 hospitals from May 1, 1997 to April 30, 1999 for a two-year period. All outcome of pregnancies, including liveborn, stillborn, and TOP over 20wks gestation were subjects of this study for the presence of major congenital anomalies. Delivery records of each hospital and pediatric records of one tertiary hospital were collected and analyzed. RESULTS: The total number of pregnancy was 30,319 yielding 30,653 deliveries, including 269 still-born and 27 TOPs. The overall incidence of congenital anomalies was 1.2Yo(366 cases among 30,653 deliveries) with 0.5Yo from primary hospital, 1.4Yo of general hospital deliveries and 4.5Yo of tertiary hospital deliveries. The incidences of selective major congenital anomalies per 1,000 deliveries were 0.82 for Down syndrome, 1.79 for cleft lip with or without cleft palate, and 0.39 for open neural tube defect. CONCLUSION: This pilot study represented the first community-based population data on congenital anomalies in Korea, differing from previous studies based on selective population of relative high-risk population from tertiary hospital delivery. Search for congenital anomalies among cohort by reviewing pediatric records yielded 38Yo of total anomalies, indicating the importance of combining both delivery and pediatrics records in generating accurate data for the incidence of congenital anomalies. PURPOSE: To elucidate the mechanism of neoangiogenesis of human retinal pigment epithelium (HRPE) under hypoxia. METHODS: HRPE cells were cultured for 2 and 24 hours in a hypoxic chamber. Expression and production of the angiogenic factor, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and the anti-angiogenic factor, pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) were analyzed by RT-PCR and Western blot, respectively. Neoangiogenesis was induced by adding culture supernatant harvested from cells exposed to hypoxic conditions. Neoangeogenesis was measured with a tube formation assay that uses ECV 304 cells and with a migration assay that uses human dermal microvascular endothelial cells. RESULTS: Competitive RT-PCR showed that the expression of the PEDF gene in HRPE cells under hypoxic state decreased compared to normoxic state (p<0.01) but the expression of the VEGF gene increased (p<0.01) when exposed to hypoxic conditions. These results corresponded to those of the Western blot analysis which revealed a significant increase of VEGF production (p<0.01) and a decrease of PEDF production (p<0.01). Moreover, the tube formation and migration assays demonstrated that angiogenesis was increased by exposure to hypoxic stress. Taken together, HRPE cells under hypoxic stress produce more VEGF and less PEDF, which lead to neoangiogenesis. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that the subretinal neovascularization that occurs under hypoxic stress might be caused by an imbalance of angiogenesis-related factors in HRPE cells.

Closed loop onstruction represent a surgical emergency, because this lesion leads to small boweel infarction, perforation, and peritonitis if not treated in time. We analyzed the CT and ultrasonographic findings of 4 patients prospectively and 2 patients retrospectively with surgically proven closed loop obstruction of the small boweel to evaluate the characteristic findings, the cause of the closed loop obstruction and predictive criteria for the viablity of the involved bowel loop. The characteristic CT and sonographic features of the closed loop obstruction of the small bowel included; dilated fluid-filled bowel loops, the thickened bowel wall, absence of peristalsis, and ascites. In one case, closed loop obstructio originating from umbilical hernia was documented by CT and sonography. The possible criteria for the gangrenous changes could be the maximal thickness of bowel more than 7mm, and infiltration in the mesentery/omentum.

PURPOSE: To investigate the clinical outcome based on topographic supported customized corneal ablation (TOSCA). METHODS: The 20 patients (20eyes), who had already undertaken excimer laser surgery at least 6 months ago, resulting in decrease of best-corrected visual acuity, were included. Topography-guided corneal ablation was performed to correct de-centered ablation or irregular astigmatism using with the Mel-70-scan (ascleapion Meditec Inc. Germany) equipped with a Gaussian spot beam. RESULTS: The average uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) in Log MAR scale was 0.52 +/- 0.35 and 0.33 +/- 0.14, preoperatively. The average of UCVA and BCVA was improved to 0.29 +/- 0.29 and 0.11 +/- 0.14, respectively after TOSCA was done. It was statistically significant difference (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: TOSCA may be considered as effective method to improve BCVA in patients who suffer from decrease of BCVA in duced by decentered ablation.

PURPOSE: This study was conducted to investigate influencing factors on recovery among alcoholics. METHODS: The participants were 123 hospitalized patients with alcohol use disorder in two hospitals in Gyeonggi province. The data were collected from May 16 to June 4, 2012 using self-report questionnaires including Hanil Alcohol Insight Scale, Alcohol Abstinence Self-Efficacy Scale, and Recovery Scale. The data were analyzed using the SPSS/Win 18.0 program with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient and regression analysis. RESULTS: Recovery is positively related to abstinence self-efficacy and duration of abstinence. Recovery differed by insight type, gender, and occupation. Insight, duration of abstinence, gender, and occupation accounted for 59.1% of the variance in recovery of the alcoholics. CONCLUSION: The influencing factors on recovery among alcoholics were insight, duration of abstinence, gender, and occupation. Programs focusing on insight, abstinence self-efficacy, and abstinence maintenance should be developed and provided. When developing the programs, the environmental context in which the alcoholics work should be considered.

Purpose: To define school nurseeparent partnerships in school health care for children with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and determine its attributes using a hybrid model. Methods: This method involves a three-phase process: theoretical, fieldwork, and analytical. A literature review was conducted during the theoretical phase. A literature search of articles from January 1991 to February 2020 was conducted using relevant electronic databases. Eighty-three articles that met the inclusion criteria were completely read. Fieldwork data were collected through individual interviews from February to July 2019 in South Korea. In the fieldwork phase, interviews were conducted individually with 22 mothers of students with T1D and 20 school nurses recruited by purposeful sampling.Inductive content analysis was conducted. The findings from the theoretical phase were integrated with those from the fieldwork phase, and the final concept was derived. Results: School nurseeparent partnership in school health care for children with T1D has been defined as an interactive process of maintaining a balanced responsibility and providing tailored care to meet needs by establishing trusting relationships and communicating transparently and openly. This analysis yielded four attributes: trusting relationships, transparent and open communication, balanced responsibility, and providing tailored care to meet needsdthis entails providing nursing actions by advocating for students and performing a negotiated role together or individually for student and family. Conclusion The findings of this study add to the importance of an attribute of balancing responsibility for partnership in school health care. The results show that this partnership could contribute to the development of a scale, theory, and nursing intervention in school health care for children with T1D.
