Korean Journal of Rehabilitation Nursing 2003;6(2):192-200
PURPOSE: This study was done to describe the correlation among the blue color worker's health-promoting behavior, occupational life-satisfaction and self-esteem METHOD: The subjects consisted of 190 industrial workers employed in one electronics manufacturing plant in Gumi and were obtained by a convenience sample. llita were collected from October 6th to 17th, 2002 by structured questionnaires. The instruments for this study were Health Promoting lifestyle Profile(47 items), Occupational Life-satisfaction Scale(20 items) and Self-esteem Scale(10 items). Frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test and Pearson's correlation coefficient with SAS program were used to analyze the data. RESULT: 1) The average item score for the health-promoting behavior was 3.01: the highest score on the subscale was self-actualization(M =3.39) with the lowest being exercise(M=2.37). 2) The average item score for the occupational life-satisfaction was 2.96. 3) The average item score for the self-esteem was 2.83. 4) Health-promoting behavior was significantly different according to educational level and age. 5) Occupational life satisfaction was significantly different according to age and religion. 6) Self-esteem was significantly different according to age. 7) Health-promoting behavior was positively related to occupational life-satisfaction and self-esteem. The occupational life-satisfaction was positively related to self-esteem. CONCLUSION: It follows from this study that there is a very correlation among the blue color worker's health-promoting behavior, occupational life-satisfaction and self-esteem. Therefore health promoting programs that increase occupational life-satisfaction and self-esteem should be developed to promote a healthy lifestyle of the blue color workers.

Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1998;10(3):480-491
The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships between self-efficacy, self-esteem, health locus of control and sick-role behavioral compliance in diabetic patients and to identify the influencing factors for sick-role behavioral compliance. The subjects for study were 244 NIDDM patients from 2 hospitals, who were visiting the outpatient clinic in Taegu. Data were collected from Sep. 18.th to Oct. 5th 1996. In data analysis, SPSS/PC+ programs were utilized for descriptives, as well as Pearson correlation coefficient, t-test, ANOVA and stepwise multiple regression. The results were as follows : 1. The average score for the sick-role behavioral compliance was 50.38, for the self-efficacy was 1337.17, for the self-esteem was 27.81, for the internal health locus of control was 28.79, for the chance health locus of control was 20.55, for the powerful others health locus of control was 28.70. 2. The relationships between self-efficacy, self-esteem, health locus of control and sick-role behavioral compliance were significant. Sick-role behavioral compliance were significantly related to self-efficacy(r=0.36, 0.000), to self-esteem (r=0.19, p=0.001), to internal health locus of control(r=0.28, p=0.000), to powerful others health locus of control (r=0.28, p=0.000). 3. In the relationship between general characteristics and sick-role behavioral compliance there were significant differences in a job (t=-2.01, p=0.045), experience of diabetic education(t=2.32, p=0.022). 4. Stepwise multiple regression analysis was performed to identify the influencing factors for sick-role behavioral compliance. Self-efficacy, self-esteem, internal health locus of control, having or not having a job and experience of diabetic education accounted for 24% of the variance in sick-role behavioral compliance. The self-efficacy was the most predictive factor (R2=13%) followed by internal health locus of control, job, self-esteem and experience of diabetic education. The results suggest that self-efficacy is an important variable in the compliance of diabetic patients. For improvement in sick-role behavioral compliance nursing intervention needs to be directed at promoting self-efficacy.

5.The Relationships among the Service Education Satisfaction, Service Involvement, and Customer Orientation of Hospital Employees.
Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2011;20(3):337-345
PURPOSE: This study was conducted to evaluate the relationships among the service education satisfaction, service involvement, and customer orientation of hospital employees after yearly-planned MOT service education. METHODS: The data collection was done through the questionnaire survey in a university hospital located in D city from March 15 to 31, 2010. The statistical analysis was done by SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. RESULTS: The enrolled employees were two hundred and seventy six. Among the characteristics of employees, adequate work load, good payment, reasonable promotion system, suitability of work aptitude and good relationships with staff improved the service education satisfaction, customer orientation, and service involvement of hospital employees. For the customer orientation, old age and lower educational background were positive factors. The correlations among the service education satisfaction, customer orientation, and service involvement of hospital employees were significant. The factors that affect customer orientation and service involvement were found to be age, suitability of work aptitude and service education satisfaction. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, customer orientation and service involvement were related with the satisfaction of employees for working condition and service education. In terms of good medical service quality, plans for maintaining adequate working environment and systematic service education should be established.

Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1997;9(1):98-111
Oral mucositis continues to be a major complaint of patients who have chemotherapy for the acute leukemia. An innovative and inexpensive remedy which produces favorable results for those afficted is not yet introduced. So we tried to develop two oral care protocols for reducing the level of oral mucositis during cytotoxic therapy through literature review and our clinical experience. The one is sodium bicarbonate-normal saline gargling, and the other consists of chlorhexidine gargling. This quasi-experimental study was performed to compare the efficacy of these two different oral care protocols. Twenty subjects were assigned to one of the two specific diagnosis of leukemia, aim of the chemotherapy. The Oral Assessment Guide(OAG), the Beck's perception of oral comfort, WHO Grading system fot mucositis and the discomfort of oral gargling solution were used to assess oral status and subject's oral discomfort during chemotherapy. Each subjects were observed daily from the start of the chemotherapy until Absolute Neutrophil Count(ANC) reached 1,000. It continued about 2-4 weeks. The data analyzed by Mann-Whittney U test and ANCOVA. The result was follows as: The patient who used sodium bicarbonate-normal saline gargling showed significantly higher mean score of the discomfort of oral gargling solution than chlorhexidine gargling. The other scores were not significantly different between two groups. However the subjects using the sodium bicarbonate-normal saline gargling showed a lower level of oral mucositis. We concluded that oral using sodium bicarbonate-normal saline gargling was between to reduce the level of oral mucositis during chemotherapy and nursing assessments of the oral cavity seemed to promote patient's compliance with the oral care regimen.

Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2008;19(1):5-12
OBJECTIVES: The study was to examine major factors that affect suicidal ideation of elderly in urban areas. METHODS: The subjects were 302 elders who voluntarily participated in the study. The instruments for this study were scale for suicidal ideation(19 items), family concord (20 items), CED-depression(20 items) and family inventor of life events and changes(FILE, 22 items). Frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test, Pearson' correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression with SPSS program were used to analyze the data. RESULTS: The average score of suicidal ideation was 14.88. Suicidal ideation was positively related to depression and stress, but negatively related to family concord. depression, family concord, stress and health status accounted for 86.1% of the variance in suicidal ideation. These results suggest that family concord, depression and stress can be potential risk factors for suicide of elderly. CONCLUSIONS: These findings may give useful information for developing suicidal prevention program on old age.

8.Life Satisfaction and Depression according to Living Arrangement in Elderly.
Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2005;17(3):400-410
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the living arrangement, life satisfaction and depression in the elderly. METHOD: The subjects consisted of 371 elderly who has at least one adult child classifying two groups(living with children and not living with children). The data were collected by a structured questionnaire that included general characteristics, Geriatric Leisure Activity Scale, Geriatric Life Satisfaction Scale, Geriatric Depression Scale, from March to December, 2004. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS program including descriptive statistics, chi2-test, t-test, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Hierarchical Regression. RESULT: In hierarchical regression, the elders who live with their children showed more life satisfaction than elders who lived by themselves. However, living arrangement showed no effect on the level of depression of the elderly parents. Significant leisure activity interaction effect was found on the depression among the elderly: The elderly with no leisure activity reported lower levels of depression when they lived with their adult child. CONCLUSION: It is necessary to explore further the various relationship among living arrangement and life satisfaction of the elderly, their preferences and expectations regarding inter-generational obligations and living arrangements.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1992;28(1):120-123
Pseudoaneurysm is uncommon but a life threatening complication of chronic pancreatitis. Angiography has been the standard definitive imaging modality in the diagnosis of pseudoaneurysm. However, over the past 5 years duplux US and Dynamic CT have been proven to be valuable. The authors report a case of gastroduodenal pseudoaneurysm in chronic pancreatitis, which could be diagnosed by duplux US and Dynamic CT. Furthermore this case proved to be a pseudocyst which converted into a pseudoaneurysm by vessel rupture.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1994;32(5):866-871
BACKGROUND: According to the areas and people that are examined, there are many differences in the prevalence of syphilis in Korea. However, the reactive rate of the serologi test for syphilis showed an increase in the 1960s, and it has deerea@sed from the beginning of the 1970s. OBJECTIVE: Comparing the results of tke serologic test for syphilis which lotad been performed for the 5 years(1987-1991) on the physical examines and pregnant women who were considered as healthy, with the results with normal people, who were considered as healthy, which had been already reported, we tried to observe the change of reactive rate of serologic test for syphili. METHODS: The serologic test for syphilis, including serum VDRL test and serum TPHA test, were carried out on 25,254 healthy adults(20,405 were physical examineea eamined at National Medical Center and 4,849 were pregnant women delivered at National Medical Cer ter). RESULTS: The reaetive rate of serum VDRL test was 0.8% in 25,25 the althy adults(physical examinees 0.8%, pregnant women 0.7%). There were no stistically differerces between the annual incidences. 85.5% of VDRL-reactive subjects showed low VDRL titers(below 1:4) by the quantitative serum VDRL test, The biologic false positive reaction of serum VDRL test was 29(19.5%) in 149 VDRL-reactive subjects, using serum TPHA test as a standard. CONCLUSION: This study suggested thai, there was a decrease in the prevslence of syphilis in Korea.
