Objective Our purpose was to report Initial clinical application experience and assess the immediate and short-term effect of transcatheter closure secundum atrial septal defects (ASD) using Amplatzer atrial septal ocluder. Methods Procedures were perfomed under fluoroscopy and transesophageal echocardiography monitoring. Nine patients (3 male, 6 female) underwent attempted transcatheter closure of a ASD using the Amplatzer atrial septal ocluder device with 10F, 11F or 12F long sheath at a mediant age of 33.0?5.2 years (range 8 to 52 years) and weighed 22 kg or more. Other congenital cardiac anomanies which require surgery were excluded. The mediant diameter of ASD at its narrowest segement were mensureted with the balloon catheters was 23.3?6.2 mm (ranger 11 to 30 mm). Systolic pressures of pulmonary arteries were 24.4?5.5 mm Hg (24-46 mm Hg) with catheterization mensuration. After the procedure, TEE were perfomed immediately to find whether there any residual shunt retained. Follow-up evaluation was color flow mapping at 24 h, 1, 3 and 6-months after closure. Results Nine patients had successful device placement. Transesophageal echocardiography showed that 8 patients had complete immediate closure and one had a small residual shunt after the operation, and could get up in the next day. The complication of cerebral throumbus embolism occurred in one woman patient during the procedure. She accepted immediately thrombolysis therapy with urokinase and recovered after several days. Conclusion Transcatheter closure of secondum ASD using Amplatzer atrial septal occluder device is an effctive nonsurgical therapy method. The operation has specialities of simple, safe with a high succes rate of placement and a fine occlusion effect. Further clinical trias are underway.

Objective To assess the value and clinical applicability of non-treponemal antigen serologic test and Treponema pallidum antigen serologic test in the diagnosis of congenital syphilis. Methods Totally,7800 newborns were collected from the out-patient and in-patient department. Toluidine red unheated serum test (TRUST) was conducted to quantitatively detect non-treponemal antibodies and Treponema pallidum particle agglutination assay (TPPA) to qualitatively detect specific treponemal antibodies in these subjects. The results of first serology test for syphilis were assessed for neonates with confirmed congenital syphilis. The sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of congenital syphilis were compared between TPPA and TRUST.Results Of the 7800 newborns undergoing syphilis serology testa, 60 were positive for TPPA and TRUST,including 15 cases of congenital syphilis, 47 were positive for TPPA but negative for TRUST, including 5 cases of congenital syphilis. The sensitivity and specificity were 75% (5/20) and 99.41% (7734/7780) respectively for TRUST in the diagnosis of congenital syphilis, 100% (20/20) and 98.88% (7693/7780) respectively for TPPA. Conclusion TPPA seems more applicable than TRUST to the screening for congenital syphilis.

Objective To investigate the relationship between polymorphism of NAD (P)H quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1)and X-ray repair cross-complementing group 1 (XRCC1) and their correlation with smoking on the susceptibility to gastric cancer. Methods A 1:1 case-control study of 334 patients with primary gastric cancer, with non-cancer or alimentary inpatients as control group (matched for ages ± 5 years, sex and reqion) in Anhui province was conducted to analyze theNQO1C609T and XRCC1G28152A. Gene types by PCR-based restriction fragment length polymorphism techniques. Interaction index (γ) was calculated to determine the type of gene- environment interaction. Results The average age of 334 cases of gastric cancer patients was 57 years, with 65.3% of them were male. Smoking rate in the case group (55.09%) was significantly higher than in the control group (36.53%). The consequence showing that it carried the heterozygous variant (CT)or homozygous variant (TT) of NQO1 could enhance the risk of gastric cancer(OR= 1.507,3.050),but not the XRCC1G28152A gene polymorphism or the susceptibility to gastric cancer. At the same time, individuals that carrying XRCC1AG and NQO1TT could increase 2.789 times the incidence of gastric cancer than those who carrying the XRCC1AG or NQO1CC. The gastric cancer risk of XRCC1GG individuals that carrying NQO1TT was 4.448 times higher than those who carrying XRCC1GG or NQO1 CC. The positive interactions of NQO1 homozygous variant (TT) , XRCC1 homozygous variant (GG) and smoking were revealed in the occurrence rates of gastric cancer (OR=3.094,γ =2.070). Conclusion Our research findings showed that the significant interactions between genetic polymorphisms of NQO1, XRCC1 and smoking added the risk of gastric cancer, while genetic and environmental hazardous factors co-effecting the development of gastric cancer.

Objective:
To investigate the accuracy and repeatability of contrast-enhanced transthoracic echocardiography for measurements of right ventricular structure and function.
Methods:
The apical four-chamber views and the three-dimensional full-volume images of the right heart were collected from 12 beagles with unenhanced and contrast-enhanced transthoracic echocardiography. The intimal display rate of the right ventricular segments, right ventricular end diastolic longitudinal dimension (RVLD), right ventricular end diastolic area (RVEDA), right ventricular end systolic area (RVESA) and right ventricular fractional area change (RVFAC) were evaluated respectively with two-dimensional unenhanced and contrast-enhanced echocardiography. Right ventricular three-dimensional full-volume images were processed and analyzed by TomTec software, and right ventricular end diastolic volume (RVEDV), right ventricular end systolic volume (RVESV) and right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF) were measured respectively with three-dimensional unenhanced and contrast-enhanced echocardiography. The measurements of pathological specimen were taken as the gold standard, the accuracies of measuring RVEDVand RVLD by different methods were evaluated. All indexes were measured repeatedly by the same observer and different observers to assess the intraobserver and interobserver reproducibilities of different methods.
Results:
①The intimal display rate of the right ventricular segments was higher with contrast-enhanced echocardiography than that with unenhanced echocardiography (
