3.Urinary Incontinence and Dysfunction in Primary Care
Korean Journal of Family Practice 2020;10(4):248-255
Urinary disorders are important factors that affect the quality of life. Urinary incontinence refers to urine leakage against will and is categorized intostress incontinence, urge incontinence, and other types. The prevalence of incontinence increases with aging. Since most patients hesitate talkingabout urinary problems, it is important to proactively ask questions to ensure proper care. The diagnostic approach includes history taking, physicalexamination, and urinalysis. The use of specific questionnaires and voiding diaries is also beneficial. The first management option for patients withincontinence is conservative treatment, especially training for strengthening the pelvic floor muscles. Anti-cholinergic medications and mirabegronare used for treating urge incontinence. To minimize adverse events, starting medications at low doses, with follow-up at short intervals, isrecommended. For treating stress incontinence, surgical approaches like sling surgery are preferred to medications. Primary physicians need to payattention to urinary problems to help older patients address their difficulties and to promote their quality of life.
5.The Effect of Clinical Dental Hygienist’s Moral Sensitivity and Psychological Well-Being on Job Engagement
Journal of Dental Hygiene Science 2020;20(1):51-58
Background:
The present study aimed to provide basic data to establish a foundation for efficient operation of the organization by identifying the effects of factors related to moral sensitivity and psychological well-being on job engagement of clinical dental hygienists.
Methods:
This cross-sectional survey consisted of self-administration questionnaires. After the approval by the Institutional Review Board, a survey was conducted from September 2019 to November 2019, targeting dental hygienists with clinical experience of 1 year or more. A total of 189 questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 for Windows. The data were analyzed using average standard deviation, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis.
Results:
According to job-related characteristics, higher job engagement was associated with more amount of clinical experience, less turnover intention, higher positions, and occasional job fatigue. Job engagement was improved by increasing moral sensitivity and psychological well-being of clinical dental hygienists. The factors affecting job engagement revealed that along with clinical career, the sub-areas of job engagement, namely turnover intention, moral sensitivity, and psychological well-being had statistically significant influence on job engagement and the explanatory power of the model was approximately 44.8%.
Conclusion
Joy of working as a clinical dental hygienist, clinical career, turnover intention, moral sensitivity, and psychological well-being were confirmed as influencing factors that affected job engagement of clinical dental hygienists. It is necessary to establish an effective plan to improve job engagement by increasing moral sensitivity and psychological well-being of clinical dental hygienists.
6.Factors Influencing Posttraumatic Growth among Nurses in COVID-19 Isolation Wards in Tertiary Hospitals
Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 2025;32(2):233-242
Purpose:
This study investigated the factors influencing posttraumatic growth (PTG) among nurses who worked in COVID-19 isolation wards in tertiary hospitals in South Korea. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive correlation research design was used. In total, 190 nurses who had worked with COVID-19-infected patients participated in the study. Their demographic characteristics, self-disclosure, resilience, social support, and PTG were examined using a structured online questionnaire administered from March 16 to 25, 2022. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 27.0.
Results:
The mean scores for self-disclosure, resilience, social support, and PTG were 42.79 (range: 12~60), 60.92 (range: 0~100), 46.98 (range: 12~60), and 45.66 (range: 0~80), respectively. Self-disclosure (β=.18, p=.003) and resilience (β=.65, p<.001) significantly influenced PTG, explaining 55% of the total variance in this variable.
Conclusion
This study highlights the need to systematically develop and implement effective intervention programs to strengthen nurses' self-disclosure and resilience.

The Journal of Korean Academy of Prosthodontics 2021;59(4):405-414
Purpose:
This study was conducted to evaluate clinical usefulness by evaluating the marginal bone resorption and survival rate of an implant with a taper straight type SLA surface domestically available on the market recently.
Materials and methods:
40 implants satisfying the including criteria were observed for one year of 125 implants of 83 adult men and women who had KISPLANT® implanted from August 2016 to December 2019 at the Department of Periodontology, Chonnam National University Dental Hospital. The marginal bone level was measured on periapical radiographs taken initially and 1 year later and we analyzed implant survival and success rates. A t-test was used for the analysis of the association between the marginal bone resorption and the severity of periodontitis, supportive periodontal therapy, the inserted site, the cause of extraction, immediate placement, and systemic disease.
Results:
After 1 year of loading, the mesial bone resorption was 0.74 ± 1.07 mm, and the distal bone resorption was 0.53 ± 1.04 mm. The marginal bone resorption of 2 mm or more occurred at 3 implants out of 40 implants after 1 year, so the success rate of implant was 92.5% and survival rate was 100%. There was a significant difference in mesial marginal bone resorption according to the inserted site and no significant differences were found between marginal bone resorption and the other factors.
Conclusion
As a result of marginal bone resorption, success rate, and survival rate in this study, we found little marginal bone resorption and high survival and success rate. It can be concluded that they represent excellent clinical results.
