The study on aldose reductase gene intron 8 A95 C polymorphismin 209 type 2 dia-betic patients and 84 healthy controls showed that the frequency of genotype AAis 7 %in DN,higherthan that in non-nephropathy (1 %) and control (1 %) ,suggsting that intron 8 genotype AA may be arisk factor for diabetic nephropathy .

Objective To observe the effect of MnCl2 on glutamate-glutamine cycle(Glu-Gln cycle) and apoptosis of dissociated striatum cells and to approach the antagonism of riluzole to the neurotoxicity of MnCl2.Methods Twenty-seven Wistar rats were randomly divided into 3 groups, 9 in each.The first group was the control group and the second group was the single MnCl2 exposure group.Both of the groups were injected with 0.9% NaCl subcutaneously(sc).The third group was the intervention group and was injected with 21.35 ?mol/kg riluzole(sc).Two hours later, the rats in the control group were the given 0.9% NaCl intraperitoneally(ip) injection, the second and third groups were injected with 200 ?mol/kg MnCl2(ip), five times a week, for 4 weeks.Twenty-four hours after the last injection, 6 rats in each group were killed and the contents of Glu and Gln, the activities of glutamine synthetase(GS) and phosphate activated glutaminase(PAG) in the striatum of the rats were determined.The apoptosis of the dissociated striatum cells was detected in the other rats in each group by flow cytometry(FCM) technique.Results Compared with the control group, in MnCl2 group, the content of Glu increased and Gln content decreased significantly(P

Objective:To observe the effect of Da Huang (Rheum Officinale) application at Shenque (CV 8) on constipation after operation for lumbar vertebral fracture. Methods:Seventy-four patients with constipation after operation for lumbar vertebral fracture were divided into an observation group and a control group by the random number table, 37 cases in each group. The two groups both received ordinary treatment (including healthcare guidance, emotional care, diet arrangement, and defecation nursing), while the observation group was additionally givenDa Huang (Rheum Officinale) application at Shenque (CV 8) for 6 h each day. The therapeutic efficacy was evaluated after successive 3-day treatment. Results:After 3-day treatment, it took significantly less time for the observation group to conduct the first flatulence and defecation than for the control group (P<0.05); the therapeutic efficacy of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion:Da Huang (Rheum Officinale) application at Shenque (CV 8) is effective in treating constipation after lumbar vertebral fracture operation, and it’s easy-to-operate and well accepted by patients, hence it’s proper to promote this method in clinic.

Objective To explore the effect and complication of diode laser and long-pulsed alexandrite laser for hair removal in different skin type.Methods A total of 1061 patients (1741 sites) were divided into 2 groups by skin type:one group were treated with diode laser,with wave length of 810 nm,and pulse width of 400 ms,with 12 mm × 10 mm spot size; another group were treated with long-pulsed alexandrite laser,with wave length of 755 nm,of pulse width of 20 ms,with 12.5 mm spot size,50-60 days intermitted between each treatment.Results The effect of hair removal by two lasers in different skin type was without divergence,but to darker skin,complication was lower when treated by diode laser.Conclusions The effect of hair removal by two lasers in different skin type is similar,but diode laser on hair removal is much safer to dark skin.

Objective Try to know the prevalence rate of ESBL-s produced by Eseherichia coil in our hospital from 2003 to 2007.Methods Antibiotic susceptibility were determined by K-B disc diffusion.Double-disk synergy tests performed on Mueller-Hinton agar plates was used for ESBL confirmation.Results There was 23.8% of our isolates can produce ESBLs in 2003,25.4% in 2004,31.3% in 2005,36.6% in 2006 and 44.9% in 2007,respectively.The situation of antibiotic resistance is more severe.Conclusion The antibiotic resistance should be well surveyed and the ESBLs must be routinely assayed.

Objective To find out the proper concentration of ZnSO4?7H2O as foliar fertilizer used for Pinellia ternata, and to provide reference for high yield of P.ternate,effects of zinc on the carbon and nitrogen metabolism in leaves of P.ternata and the yield were studied.Methods Seedlings of P.ternata were employed as the experiment material.At the stage of full seedling,ZnSO4?7H2O of different concentration was sprayed on the leaves,the indexes of carbon and nitrogen metabolism were determined on the day 10,the weight of tubers and bulbils were measured at the sprout tumble stage.Results The yield of P.ternata has an exceedingly significant positive correlation with the contents of soluble sucrose and starch in the leaves,a significant positive correlation with the content of photosynthetic pigment and the aldolase activity,and a negative correlation with the amylase activity.In addition,the yield shows both an exceedingly significant positive correlation whith the nitrate reductase activity and a significant positive correlation with the content of protein.At the stage of full seedling,zinc sprayed on leaves can increase the content of photosynthetic pigment and improve the capability of photosynthesis.Meanwhile,spraying zinc can also promote the accumulation of soluble sucrose and starch in the leaves because of its stimulation on aldolase and inhibition on amylase.Besides,spraying zinc on leaves could improve the activity of nitrate reductase and the content of protein,and finally increase the yield of P.ternata.Conclusion The concentration of 600 mg/L is the best for ZnSO4?7H2O used as foliar fertilizer for P.ternate at the stage of full seedling.

This study discussed how to make a cognitive behavioral therapy-orientated case formulation for the client who was diagnosed as adjustment disorder,and also the importance of the role of case formulation in guiding the whole counseling process.Four months before the client asked for psychological help,he gradually showed symptoms of depression,insomnia,work inefficiency and being suspicious of self-capacity because of the promotion and the change of supportive system.We did the psychological counseling aiming at his cognitive,emotional and behavioral problems.In addition,the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI),Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and Subjective Units of Distress Scale (SUDs) were used to evaluate his emotional condition before,after and during the counseling.Results demonstrated that the client's emotional,cognitive and social functions were significantly improved,achieving the expected goals.In conclusion,the cognitive behavioral therapy-orientated case formulation for adjustment disorder could effectively guide the counseling practice.

Objective To evaluate the change of extended spectrum β-lactamase (ESBLs) Producing Klebsiella Pneumoniae (ESBLs-KPN) and Escherichia coli (ESBLs-ECO) causing nosocomial infection after antimicrobial intervention. Methods We regularly monitored the data on the yearly consumption [defined as daily dose (DDD) per 1 000 patient-days] of frequently used antibiotics from Dec. 2004 to Dec. 2007. From Jan. 2005 to Dec. 2007, we monitored the resistance of frequently used antibiotics and the timely integrative antimicrobial intervention was based on the outcome of antimicrobial resistance. We also monitored the isolation rate of ESBLs-KPN and ESBLs-ECO causing nosocomial infection. The departments studied were the experimental group and other comparable medical departments were the control group(ICU was excluded).Results The isolation rate of ESBLs-KPN ((43.90%)) and ESBLs-ECO (45.83%) in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group (28.04% and 24.90%, respectively) before the intervetion (P＜0.05). The isolation rate of ESBLs-KPN decreased (from 26.47% to 17.65%) in the experimental group and that in the control group increased ( ESBLs-KPN: from 34.18% to (52.94%;) ESBLs-ECO: from 47.13% to 63.78%) from 2005 to 2007 (P＜0.05). The isolation rate of ESBLs-KPN and ESBLs-ECO in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group after the antimicrobial intervention (P＜0.05). Usage of ceftazidime and cefoperazone/sulbactam and imipenem was reduced and the consumption of cefepime was increased in the experimental group ((P＜0.05)). Consumption of ceftazidime and cefoperazone/sulbactam and cefepime was increased. Conclusion The prevalence of ESBLs-KPN and ESBLs-ECO may be decreased after the integrative antimicrobial intervention.

Objective To investigate the effect of curcumin on the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) in the hippocampus and spatial learning ability in APPswe/PS1△9 transgenic mice,and provide a new theoretical basis for the treatment of Alzheimer' s disease (AD).Methods Mice were divided into wild-type (WT) group,APP/PS1 transgenic group,curcumin-treated group,quercetin combined with curcumin-treated group.The 5-month-old mice in curcumin-treated group received 150 mg · kg-1 · d-1 curcumin by intraperitoneal injection for four consecutive weeks.In addition to curcumin,the mice in quercetin combined with curcumin-treated group also received quercetin 50 mg· kg-1 · d-1 intraperitoneally for four consecutive weeks.The expression of HSP70 in the hippocampus of APP/PS1 mice was detected by Western blot.Learning and memory ability of APP/ PS1 mice were measured by Morris water maze test.The latency of finding the platforms and the number of crossing the platforms were observed.Results The results of Western blot analyses showed that the expression of HSP70 in the hippocampus of APP/PS1 transgenic mice decreased significantly compared with that of WT mice (OD:APPswe/PS1△9:0.31±0.14;WT:1.14±0.51;P＜0.01).The expression of HSP70 in curcumin-treated group significantly increased compared with that of APP/PS1 transgenic group (OD:0.91±0.20 in curcumin-treated group;P＜0.05).The results of water maze test showed that compared with WT group,in APP/PS1 group,the latency of finding the platforms was significantly longer (APPswe/PS 1 △9:(82.3 ± 6.8) s;WT:(19.5±4.4) s),and the number of crossing tbe platforms were significantly decreased (APPswe/PS1 △9:(2.7± 1.1);WT:(5.2± 2.1)).In curcumin-treated group,the latency of finding the platform ((47.7±7.6) s) was significantly shorter and the number of crossing platform ((4.5±1.9) s) was more than those in APP/ PS1 group.However,in quercetin combined with curcumin-treated group,the latency of finding the platform was significantly longer ((69.7±9.1) s) and the number of crossing platform (3.2±1.6) was decreased compared with those in curcumin-treated group.Conclusion Curcumin can promote the expression of HSP70 in the hippocampus of APP/PS1 transgenic mice,thus improve spatial learning ability of APP/PS1 transgenic mice.These results provide evidences that curcumin may have potential therapeutic value for the treatment of AD.
