1.Discussion of the "three threes" mode of ideological and political work in hospitals
Chinese Journal of Hospital Administration 1996;0(06):-
With the establishment and perfection of the system of the socialist market economy, ideological work in hospitals is confronted with quite a few new challenges: ①influence of the complicated circumstances both at home and abroad; ②discord between the managerial mechanisms of ideological and political work and the development of the system of the market economy; ③means and methods of ideological work lagging behind the times. Thus, the authors, in light of their own experience in this aspect, put forward the "three threes" mode, viz. three buildings, three close combinations and three innovations, referring respectively to buildings of ideology, organization and the style of work for the leading group, the contingent of party members and cadres, and the team of cadres engaged in political work; close combinations with the basic requirements of the developmental goals of hospital reform, the difficulties and problems confronted by cadres and the masses in their practical work, and dynamic ideological trends; and innovations in the mechanisms, contents and methods and means of ideological and political work. The authors also point out that attention ought to be paid to the demonstrative, concrete, mass, complicated and advanced nature of ideological work.

Objective To investigate relations between villus Benzo (a)pyrene (BaP)-DNA adducts and blighted ovum in early pregnancy, and to explore possible environmental factors influencing embryo development. Methods One hundred and two pregnant women with blighted ovum were selected into this study as research group; and 102 normal pregnant women were taken as control group; the age, gravidity, parity and gestational weeks of the two groups were matched. After artificial abortion, villi of the patients were collected and washed by normal saline. Then, the tissue was homogenated and genome DNA was extracted to detect quantity of the tissue. BaP-DNA adducts levels were examined by high-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence method (HPLC). The personal information of pregnant women was collected by questionnaire. Logistic regression model was used to investigate the association between BaP-DNA adducts and blighted ovum. Results BaP-DNA adducts level in villi of research group [(8. 9±8. 2) adducts/108 nucleotides] was significantly higher than that of control group [(2. 0±1. 4) adducts/108 nucleotides], P<0.05. The higher the BaP-DNA adducts in villi, the higher risk the blighted ovum; when the BaP-DNA adducts level increased to 6.06 adducts/108 nucleotides, the risk of blighted ovum might increase 59.39 times (95% CI:15.50-227.55). Maternal education level was a protective factor (OR=-0.21, 95%CI:-0. 19--0.03) after controlling potential confounders. Conclusions High level of villi BaP-DNA adducts might increase the risk of blighted ovum in early pregnancy, and could have an adverse effect on embryo development.

Objective To observe the bacteriostasis of herba houttuyniae liquid in bladder irrigation for treatment of rabbit bladder infection model, and to offer a new way for prevention and treatment of urinary tract infection. Methods Twenty male New Zealand long-eared white rabbits were divided into gentamicin control group and three different concentrations herba houttuyniae groups according to random number table method, each group 5 rabbits. The rabbit bladder infection model was replicated by injecting coli liquid 1 mL (105 cfu/mL) into the urinary bladder through a urethral catheter, and clipping the catheter for 1 hour. After model establishment for 3 days, in the three herba houttuyniae groups, 0.25, 0.50, 1.00 g/mL herba houttuyniae liquid 50 mL were injected into the bladder respectively, and in the gentamicin control group, 160 kU gentamicin was injected into the bladder. Before molding and after molding for 3, 5, 7, 9 days, ear blood in rabbit was taken, and white blood cell (WBC) count and neutrophil percentage (N%) were tested; at the same time, the middle segment morning urine was taken to detect bacteriuria and urine WBC positive rates; after the experiment, the animals were sacrificed, the urinary bladder tissues were taken, and the pathological changes in urinary bladder tissue were observed by a light microscope. Results Before molding, the bacteriuria in animals of each group was negative and the results of urine WBC, blood WBC and N% were within normal range. After molding for 3 days, bacteriuria and urine WBC positive rates reached 100%; with the prolongation of treatment after molding, the above two rates in each group were gradually decreased, and herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL and 1.00 g/mL groups appeared statistical significance on the 5th day (bacteriuria positive rate was 60% and 40%, urine WBC positive rate was 60% and 40% respectively, while the gentamicin control group and herba houttuyniae 0.25 g/mL group was still 100% positive, allP < 0.01); on the 9th day, the bacteriuria positive rate in both higher dosage herba houttuyniae groups was 0, in 0.25 g/mL group, it still had the positive rate 20%, showing herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL and 1.00 g/mL had stronger inhibitory effect than herba houttuyniae 0.25 g/mL. WBC and N% were increased in each group after molding, and on the 3rd day, WBC and N were significantly higher in each group than those before molding [WBC (×109/L): gentamicin control group 13.00±5.23 vs. 8.95±2.69, herba houttuyniae 0.25 g/mL group 14.52±10.28 vs. 8.73±3.16, herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL group 12.97±11.33 vs. 7.83±4.51, herba houttuyniae 1.00 g/mL group 13.03±9.17 vs. 6.45±3.85. N%: gentamicin control group 80.99±14.93 vs. 63.41±7.96, herba houttuyniae 0.25 g/mL group 89.62±9.41 vs. 70.01±9.13, herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL group 87.69±11.34 vs. 67.75±8.91, herba houttuyniae 1.00 g/mL group 85.67±12.81 vs. 65.12±4.63]. On the 7th day, WBC and N% fell, and on the 9th day, the WBC and N% were restored to normal range in herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL and 1.00 g/mL groups [WBC (×109/L): herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL group 8.56±5.38, herba houttuyniae 1.00 g/mL group 7.93±4.82. N%: herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL group 65.97±8.35, herba houttuyniae 1.00 g/mL group 65.57±9.12]. Under light microscopy, it was shown that the morphological appearances of tissue cells in various layers of bladder mucosa were normal in herba houttuyniae group, demonstrating that herba houttuyniae fluid in bladder did not cause allergic inflammatory reaction, etc. Conclusion The bacteriostatic action of herba houttuyniae liquid for bladder irrigation in treatment of rabbits with urinary tract infection is better than that of gentamicin.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2014;34(5):659-663
OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP) on epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in cultured human proximal tubular epithelial cells (HK-2) and explore the mechanism.
METHODSHK-2 cells treated with 50, 100, 200, and 400 µg/ml AOPP or 50 µg/m bovine serum albumin (BSA) for 24 h, or with 200 µg/ml AOPP for 0.5, 1, 3, 6, 12, and 24 h were examined for the protein expression of α-SMA and E-cadherin. In cells pretreated with diphenyleneiodonium (DPI) or cytoplasmic superoxide dismutase (C-SOD), the effects of 50 µg/ml BSA and 200 µg/ml AOPP were assessed on the expressions of α-SMA and E-cadherin, malondialdehyde (MDA) level, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, catalase (CAT) activity, and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-px) activity.
RESULTSAOPP treatment up-regulated α-SMA expression and down-regulated E-cadherin expression in a dose- and time-dependent fashion. AOPP exposure of the cells resulted in increased MDA level and lowered activities of SOD, CAT and GSH-PX. DPI and C-SOD partially attenuated the effects of AOPP on α-SMA, E-cadherin, MDA, SOD, CAT and GSH-px.
CONCLUSIONAOPP can induce EMT in cultured HK-2 cells via oxidative stress, and this effect can be attenuated by inhibiting the activation of NADPH oxidase and using antioxidants to delay the progression of renal interstitial fibrosis.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2014;34(4):556-559
OBJECTIVETo investigate the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the transmembrane protein 39A (TMEM39A) at the loci 1880G/A, 2442T/G, and 2456A/T and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in Chinese Han patients.
METHODSTMEM39A gene polymorphisms at 3 loci (1880G/A, 2442T/G, 2456 A/T) were analyzed using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) in 110 Chinese Han patients with SLE and 80 normal control subjects, and the allele and genotype frequencies were compared by Chi-square test between the two groups.
RESULTSBoth the genotype frequencies (AA, GA and GG) and allele frequencies (A and G) at 1880G/A differed significantly between SLE cases and the normal controls (P=0.002 and P=0.044, respectively). The two groups also showed significant differences in the genotype frequencies (GG, TG and TT) (P=0.001) and allele frequencies (G and T) (P=0.041) at 2442T/G. No significant differences were found in the genotype frequencies (TT, AT and AA) or allele frequencies (T and A) at 2456A/T between the two groups (P>0.05). The allele and genotype frequencies of the 3 SNPs showed no significant differences between lupus nephritis (LN) patients and non-LN patients.
CONCLUSIONThe TMEM39A polymorphisms at 1880G/A and 2442T/G, but not at 2456 A/T gene, may be associated with the susceptibility to SLE in Chinese Han population. The genotype or allele frequencies of the 3 SNPs have no effect on the incidence of lupus nephritis.
