Objective To observe the effect of dexmedetomidine in cerebral aneurysm embolization in pa-tients with hypertension. Methods Sixty patients with hypertension undergoing emergency cerebral aneurysm em-bolization were randomly divided into two groups:research group(dexmedetomidine given group) and control group. SBP,DBP,HR,plasma norepinephrine(NE):baseline value(T0),before intubation(T1),after intubation (T2),after extubation(T3). Extubation time and anesthetic-related complications were also recorded. Results The hemodynamic parameters and plasma norepinephrine concentration in the research group were more stable than those in the control group at different time point during perioperative period. There was no difference between two groups about extubation time. The incidence of anesthetic-related complications in research group was lower than control group(P < 0.05). Conclusions Dexmedetomidine can reduce the stress response of intubation ,extuba-tion and perioperative hemodynamic fluctuations in cerebral aneurysm embolization in patients with hypertension. It can also reduce the consumption of prorofol and the incidences of adverse effects.

Aim To explore the toxicity and safety of five kinds of known positive drugs, cyclophosphamide, acetyl salicylic acid, tetracycline hydrochloride, dexa-methasone acetate and azacitidine, using zebrafish em-bryos. Methods We selected normally developed 4 hpf zygote, and used water bath infecting method to add the drug to the artificial seawater. Each drug had five concentrating groups, a separate control group and solvent control group. We observed the dead zebrafish embryos after 120 hpf drugs, counted the number of deaths and deformities of zebrafish embryos, and cal-culated mortality abnormal rate, the median lethal con-centration (LC50 ), concentration for 50% of maximal effect (EC50 ), therapeutic index (TI) under 120 hpf condition. We also used the formula TI = LC50 / EC50 to calculate positive drug therapeutic index. Based on measured LC50 we calculated most nonlethal concentra-tion (MNLC) of each drug setting, namely 1 / 10 MN-LC, 1 / 3 MNLC, MNLC,LC10 four concentration, tha-lidomide as a positive control, vitamin C as a negative control, artificial seawater as control, 0. 5% DMSO as solvent control. Put in 28. 5 ℃ environment for 120 hours, embryo development was observed daily for de-velopmental state, mortality, deforming rate and abnor-mal condition. Results The result of five drugs LC50 in descending order: cyclophosphamide > azacitidine> tetracycline hydrochloride > acetylsalicylic acid >dexamethasone acetate. EC50 in descending order: cy-clophosphamide > tetracycline hydrochloride > azaciti-dine > acetylsalicylic acid > dexamethasone acetate. The TI values of cyclophosphamide, acetyl salicylic acid, tetracycline hydrochloride, dexamethasone ace-tate, azacitidine were 1. 92, 1. 11, 1. 05, 1. 44, 2. 99, respectively. Conclusion Zebrafish embryo model can be used in the preliminary evaluation of drugs, and the study of early developmental toxicity and safety.

BACKGROUND: Gong's nonverbal intelligence test(GNIT) is a nonverbal and cross-cultural test of intelligence designed primarily to suit the use in the minority groups and those with linguistic difficulties by Professor Gong Yao-xian. At present 5 unified norms of the minority groups as well as norms of Chinese Han children and adult aged below 55 years have been developed, but the norms for the elderly above 56 years of age are not available. Nonverbal intelligence test is especially suitable for the elderly and has therefore wide applications.OBJECTIVE: To establish regional norms of the GNIT for healthy elderly people above 56 to enable the completion of nonverbal intelligence test norms suitable for each age groups.DESIGN: A controlled study with stratified sampling of healthy elderly retirees over 56 years of age in the community.SETTING: Department of Physiology in Medical College of Henan University of Science and Technology; Center for Psychology, Xiangya Second Hospital,Central South University.PARTICIPANTS: Healthy elderly retirees above 56 years of age in Luoyang cityor the counties were selected on a voluntary basis with stratified sampling according to the proportion of each region. The selected subjects aged between 56 and 101 years, and 8 age groups were divided at the interval of 5 years(about 200 people in each age group). Totally 1 460 subjects were selected, including 679 male and 781 female subjects.METHODS: With the instruments and manual of GNIT, the subjects were tested for color identification, classification, blank-filling with numbers or graphs, characters and encoding tests. The results were original scores, scale scores and intelligence quotient.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The norms of GNIT for the elderly above 56 years of age.RESULTS: The norms included three scores, namely the original scores, scale scores and standard deviation scores. To test of reliability and validity of the norms, retest was performed in 40 1 or 2 weeks after the initial test, resulting in the test-retest reliability coefficient ranging from 0.59 to 0. 89, with the total test-retest reliability coefficient of 0.83. The correlation coefficients the original scores between the subtests ranged from 0. 35 to 0. 63, and the correlation coefficients between the standard deviation scores of the verbal intelligence quotient(VIQ), performance intelligence quotient(PIQ) and full intelligence quotient(FIQ) of Wechster intelligence scale for children(WAIC-RC) were 0.43,0.51 and 0.54 respectiyely, based on a study of a sample of 50 elderly subjects.CONCLUSION: Primary regional norms of GNIT for elderly subjects above 56 years of age have been established to measure mainly the perception and reasoning factors loaded with also visual motor psychological factors and abstract summary factors, with satisfactory reliability and validity equivalent to similar tests.

PURPOSE: Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) develops in patients with chronic renal failure. This study aimed to compare analgesic efficacy in SHPT patients who undergo subtotal parathyroidectomy after superficial versus deep cervical plexus block. METHODS: Sixty chronic renal failure patients with SPHT scheduled for subtotal parathyroidectomy were randomized to receive general anesthesia (group GA), general anesthesia plus bilateral superficial and deep cervical plexus block (group BD), or general anesthesia plus bilateral superficial cervical plexus block (group BS) (n = 20). Bilateral superficial cervical plexus block or combined superficial and deep cervical plexus block with 0.5% ropivacaine was administered. Postoperative pain was assessed using visual analogue scale (VAS). RESULTS: VAS score at 1 hour, 4 hours, and 8 hours after operation was 3.71 +/- 0.60, 2.72 +/- 0.54, 2.17 +/- 0.75 in BS group; 4.00 +/- 0.28, 2.89 +/- 0.21, and 2.46 +/- 1.01 in BD group, significantly lower than in GA group (6.50 +/- 0.50, 5.02 +/- 0.54, and 4.86 +/- 0.51, respectively). The dosage of tramadol was 109.0 +/- 35.2 mg in BS group and 93.0 +/- 24.52 mg in BD group, significantly lower than in GA group (300.0 +/- 27.13 mg). The incidence of complications in GA group (90%) was significantly higher than in BS group (30%) and BD group (15%). Serum glucose and norepinephrine levels were significantly higher at 1 hour, 4 hours, and 8 hours after operation, but returned to baseline levels at 24 hours after operation. CONCLUSION: Superficial cervical plexus block or combined superficial and deep cervical plexus block effectively reduces postoperative pain, stress response, and complications in SHPT patients who undergo subtotal parathyroidectomy.

Objective:To investigate and analyze the radioactivity level of 90Sr in offshore seawater and seafood therein around Sanmen nuclear power plant (NPP) and to estimate the annual committed effective dose to local population from ingestion of 90Sr in seafood from 2015 to 2019. Methods:From 2015 to 2019, the offshore seawater and 3 kinds of marine products grown locally in Sanmen and consumed by local residents were collected for measurement of the level of 90Sr radioactivity. The committed effective doses to the local population were estimated based on monitoring result and consumption data on seafood in Zhejiang offshore. Results:The radioactivity concentrations of 90Sr ranged from 2.4 to 4.1 mBq/L in the seawater, close to the natural radioacrive background level and from 6.7×10 -2 to 1.3 Bq/kg in seafood, lower than the standard values specified in the "Limited concentrations of radioactive materials in foods" (GB 14882-94). Annual committed effective dose to the local population from 90Sr attributable to consumption of seafood in Sanmen County from 2015 to 2019 were 2.2×10 -4-4.2×10 -4mSv, respectively, far lower than the worldwide committed effective dose result ing from internal exposure. Conclusions:From 2015 to 2019, the radioactivity concentration of 90Sr in seawater and seafood are stable, with neglectable dose burden to the local population.
