1.Cross-talk among unfolded protein response, cancer metabolism, and autophagy in a cancer microenvironment
Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2014;45(11):734-737
Malignant tumor is typically characterized by fast proliferation and invasiveness. As such, tumor blood supply often fails to satisfy tumor growth requirements, resulting in a stressful cancer microenvironment with low oxygen level and insufficient nutri-ents. Cancer cells survive in such stressful environments by activating various signals (such as unfolded protein response), changing metabolic pathways, and undergoing autophagy. Hence, the cross-talk among these mechanisms should be determined to provide new insights into the interdynamics of cancer cells and their microenvironment. Furthermore, results would provide relevant information for the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

Objective To establish the methods for measuring the dose to occupational staff's eye lens in interventional procedures with direct-reading dosimeters, and to realize the real-time monitoring of eye lens dose and warning for high dose rate, thus providing the scientific basis of the staff radiological protection in interventional procedures. Methods Direct-reading dosimeters were calibrated with personal dose equivalent HP (3).The eye lens doses for occupational staff in different kinds of interventional procedures were measured by the devices with both single-and double X-ray tubes. The data obtained fromthe direct-reading dosimeters was compared to those obtained from TLDs.Results Direct-reading dosimeters showed good linear fitting with the calibration of HP (3),and the coefficients of variation were lower than 5%.The average eye lens HP (3) for the main operator in coronary arteriography and stent implantation in brain obtained by direct-reading dosimeters were 12.0 and 24.5 μSv,respectively, whereas those obtained by TLDs were 11.9 and 22.7 μSv,respectively. The direct-reading dosimeters gave similar t~nds as TLDs do so.The direct-reading dosimeters were able to provide eye lens HP (3) in each individual interventional procedure, and to monitor the real-time dose rate as well. Conclusions The calibration of HP (3) and the data gained by direct-reading dosimeters are reliable. Therefore, the methods for real-time measurement of eye lens dose for occupational staff in interventional procedures are successfully established.

Objective To establish methods of measuring the eye lens dose to interventional staff,to obtain relevant dose data and to provide a scientific basis for reducing eye lens dose. Methods Two kinds of dosimeters, thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD) and optically stimulated luminescence dosimeter (OSLD),were selected to measure the personal dose equivalent HP (3) to eye lens of occupational staff in several kinds of interventional procedures, including cardiovascular interventional procedures, cerebrovascular interventional procedures etc.Five types of Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) equipment were chosen in the study, including single tube equipment and double tube equipment. Results The eye lens dose HP (3) to interventional staff varied significantly with different interventional procedures. The lowest dose is shown in the coronary angiography procedure, while the highest dose shown in the cerebral stenting procedure. For the same type of interventional procedure, the eye lens dose to the primary interventionist was the highest. For same interventionist, the dose to the left eye was obviously higher than that to the right eye.In addition, the measured results of OSLD were apparently higher than that of TLD.Conclusions Both TLD and OSLD could be used to measure eye lens dose, and the ways of calibrating TLD to evaluate personal dose equivalent HP (3) were feasible. The reason of significant difference between the measured results of TLD and OSLD needs further research.

Objective:To determine the effect of hypoxic stress on glioma cell XBP1 expression, the relationship between XBP1 expres-sion and sugar metabolism, the influence of XBP1 repression on the survival rate of glioma cells under normoxia and hypoxia, and the influence of XBP1 on glioma cell glycolysis. Methods:We tested XBP1 activation in human glioma cell lines cultured under normoxia and hypoxia. XBP1 expression was repressed with siRNA technology. Cells were treated with oxidative phosphorylation inhibitor. We then detected the variation in cell apoptosis, sugar metabolism mode, and cell apoptosis and glycolysis products under normoxia and hypoxia. Results:XBP1 activation increased under hypoxia. Silencing XBP1 expression reduced glioma cell survival level, ATP and lactic acid production, and glucose consumption under hypoxia. After inhibiting cell oxidative phosphorylation, XBP1 repression significantly reduced the survival level of glioma cells. Conclusion:Hypoxia can activate XBP1 in glioma cells. Under hypoxia, XBP1 silencing de-presses cell activity and glycolysis. Glycolysis of glioma cells under hypoxia depends on XBP1 activation.

Chinese Journal of Burns 2019;35(8):611-613
From January 2013 to December 2017, 8 patients with deep burns of upper limbs were admitted to our hospital, including 6 males and 2 females, aged 23-48 years. The wound area of full-thickness burns to burns with tendon and bone injury was 4.5 cm×2.0 cm-20.0 cm×10.5 cm. After debridement, thin abdominal flaps with subdermal vascular network in the size of 5.0 cm×2.5 cm-22.0 cm×12.0 cm were applied to cover the wounds, and the donor sites were sutured directly by relaxation. The disposable suction tubes with holes cut on side walls were used as drainage tubes. The part of drainage tubes with holes were wrapped with nano-silver antimicrobial dressings and then placed at the lowest position of pedicle and donor site of abdominal flap and the space between the injured limb and the abdominal wall. The loose nano-silver antibacterial dressing was used to fill the webs of fingers and the gap between the injured limb and the abdominal wall. The transparent film dressing was used to close the surgical area and then connected with a low negative voltage electric suction device to continuously suck at a negative pressure of -15 to -10 kPa. The self-made vacuum sealing drainage device was replaced at intervals of 4 to 5 days until pedicle breakage was performed 2 to 3 weeks after operation. The pedicled abdominal flaps of 8 patients had no torsion or avulsion, no pedicle blood supply disorder, and no infection or skin erosion in the operation area, and all the flaps survived after pedicle breakage.
