Objective To observe the efficacy of Buyanghuanwu herbal decoctions on microalbuminur in noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Methods Sixty-six patients with noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus patients with 30~300 mg/24 h microalbuminur were randomly divided into the treated group (treated with Buyanghuanwu herbal decoctions) and the control group (treated with injection of Huangqi). The clinical efficacy was observed and levels of blood-fat, hemorheology and microalbuminur were determined. Results The levels of blood-fat, hemorbeology and microalbnminur were decreased in treated group. Comparison between the two groups showed significant difference (P

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Cardiotonic Pill and Monopril in treating congestive heart failure disease. Methods Seventy-eight patients with congestive heart failure were randomly divided into two groups. The control group received routine treatment (Monopril), and the treated group were given Cardiotonic Pill besides routine treatment. The symptoms, physical signs and the parameter and classify of cardiac function were evaluated in all patients. Results The symptoms and physical signs after treatment were better than before. The cardiac function were improved. Comparison between the two groups showed difference (P

OBJECTIVE:To explore basic technology for synthesis of active ingredients of Ophiocordyceps xuefengensis, and provide necessary technical support for comprehensive development of O. xuefengensis sourse. METHODS:Submerged fermenta-tion method was used to cultivate the mycelium, achieving efficient synthesis of active ingredients by controlling medium composi-tion and cultivation conditions. Using the bacteria as starting strain, the effects of different carbon sources (sucrose, glucose and soluble starch),different nitrogen sources (peptone, yeast extract powder, yeast extract, sodium nitrate, potassium nitrate and urea),different vitamin B(vitamin B1 and vitamin B complex)and different initial pH(pH was set at 4,5,6,7,8 and 9,re-spectively)on mycelial growth, extracellular and intracellular polysaccharide synthesis, cordycepin synthesis and intracellular triter-penoid synthesis were investigated to screen the optimal medium composition. RESULTS:The optimal carbon source, nitrogen source, vitamin B and initial pH were sucrose, yeast extract powder, vitamin B1 and 8,respectively. High biomass and metabolite accumulation levels can be obtained when carbon source was sucrose, nitrogen source was yeast extract powder, adding 0.1 g/L vi-tamin B1 with initial pH of 8. CONCLUSIONS:O. xuefengensis can efficiently accumulate metabolites, and achieve the optimiza-tion of strain cell growth and synthesis of active metabolite by optimizing and controlling the fermentation process.

OBJECTIVETo observe the therapeutic effect of shenqi fanghou recipe (SFR) in preventing and treating radiation injury in patients with head and neck tumor.
METHODSOne hundred and forty patients with head and neck tumor, including nasopharyngeal carcinoma, carcinoma of tonsil or tongue, were randomly divided into 2 groups, 70 patients in the observed group were given modified SFR as adjuvant to radiotherapy, while 70 patients in the control group were treated with radiotherapy alone. The radiation reactions during radiotherapy and the condition of late stage radiation injury radiotherapy in patients in the 2 groups were observed.
RESULTSThe degree of oropharyngeal mucosa reaction, dryness in mouth and radiation dermatitis in cervical region in the observed group was milder than those in the control group, and the radiation injury induced late stage sequelae, such as the degree of mouth-opening was better and the cervical muscular sclerosis was better in the observed group than in the control group, showing significant difference (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSFR has definite effect in preventing and treating radiation reaction and late stage radiation injury in patients with head and neck tumor.
