Objective To determine the serum level of KL-6 in patients with polymyositis(PM)and dermatomyositis(DM),and to investigate the possible diagnostic value for interstitial lung diseases(ILD)in pa- tients with PM/DM.Methods Serum KL-6 concentrations were measured by ELISA in 53 adult PM/DM pa- tients,the control groups of 22 patients with infectious lung disease,and 50 healthy subjects.The association with clinical features and serum KL-6 levels was analyzed.Results The serum levels of KL-6 were(1543?761)、(429?106)、(336?196)and(289?105)U/ml in PM/DM patients with ILD and without ILD,patients with infectious lung disease and healthy controls,respectively.Serum KL-6 levels in the PM/DM patients with ILD were significantly higher compared with PM/DM patients without ILD,patients with infectious lung disease and healthy controls(all P＜0.01 ).However,no significant differences of serum KL-6 levels was found among PM/ DM patients without ILD,patients with infectious lung disease and healthy controls(P＞0.05).Significant cor- relations were found between the elevated levels of serum KL-6 and the presence of ILD in patients with PM/ DM(P＜0.01).The sensitivity and specificity of serum abnormal KL-6 levels for ILD in patients with PM/DM were 90.9% and 80.6%.Additionally,follow-up study showed the mean serum levels of KL-6 in six patients who died were significantly higher than that in other PM/DM patients with ILD(P＜0.01).Conclusion Serum KL-6 level is a reliable serum marker for ILD in idiopathic inflammatory myopathies,which may contribute to early differentiate ILD from lung infectious disease.Increased serum level of KL-6 may predict a poor out- come.

BackgroundLaser peripheral iridotomy(LPI) can break the pupillary block,and is an effective method of treating acute primary angle closure (APAC).However,a part of APAC eyes may gradually develop a formation and extension of peripheral anterior synechia(PAS) and increased intraocular pressure(IOP) after LPI.ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between appositional angle closure and darkroom provocative test(DRPT) in the fellow eyes with APAC after LPI.Methods Fellow eyes of APAC without PAS after LPI were studied.Ultrasounic biomicroscopy(UBM) were performed in darkness to observe whether appositional angle closure occurred and compare the relationship between the quadrants with appositional angle closure and the results of DRPT.Results Fifty-four patients were included in the study.Appositional angle closure was observed in at least one quadrant in 20(37.0％ ) of the 54 fellow eyes with APAC after LPI.Fifty-one patients were given DRPT and positive result in 9 patients( 17.6％ ).According to the quadrants with appositional angle closure,there were 5 patients with DRPT positive results in 46 patients with appositional angle closure 0 to 2 quadrants,and 4 patients with DRPT positive results in 5 patients with appositional angle closure 3 to 4 quadrants ( P =0.003 ).Bivariate correlation analysis indicated a positive correlation between the value of the increased IOP in DRPT and the number of quadrants with appositional angle closure in darkness( r =0.397,P =0.004).ConclusionsA certain proportional fellow eyes of APAC appeared appositional angle closure in darkness and DRPT positive result after LPI.The more the quadrants of appositional angle closure after LPI,the greater the likelihood of a positive DRPT.It suggests that the APAC fellow eyes and attack eyes with the same anatomical configuration still have the possibility of angle closure after LPI,and need follow-up and treatment for a long time.

[ ABSTRACT] AIM: To study the autophagy of prostate cancer PC-3 cells induced by CD147 in vitro.ME-THODS:Themethod of amino acid starvation to induce autophagy was used.The expression of CD147 was detected by Western blotting.To study the functional effects of CD147 on autophagy in prostate cancer PC-3 cells, the down-regulation of CD147 expression was induced by the technique of RNAi.The conversion of autophagic marker protein LC3-I to LC3-II was determined by Western blotting.The cell death after starvation-induced autophagy was analyzed by trypan blue exclu-sion assay.RESULTS:The CD147 expression gradually increased in starvation-induced autophagy.The down-regulation of CD147 significantly increased the expression of autophagy-related protein LC3-II compared with control group.Mean-while, the cell death rates increased from (19.3 ±3.1)%and (22.3 ±3.5)%in control groups to (38.4 ±3.1)%in si-lencing the expression of CD147 in the PC-3 cells (P<0.05).CONCLUSION:CD147 inhibits starvation-induced auto-phgy and autophagy death in the prostate cancer PC-3 cells.
