1.Research Progress on the Development and Regulation of Embryonic Hematopoietic Stem Cells.
Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2015;32(5):1141-1145
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are tissue specific stem cells that replenish all mature blood lineages during the lifetime of an individual. Hematopoietic cell clusters in the aorta of vertebrate embryos play a pivotal role in the formation of the adult blood system. Recently, people have learned a lot about the embryonic HSCs on their development and homing. During their differentiation, HSCs are regulated by the transcription factors, such as Runx1 and Notch signaling pathway, etc. MicroRNAs also regulate the self-renewal and differentiation of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells on the post-transcriptional levels. Since the onset of circulation, the formation of HSCs and their differentiation into blood cells, especially red blood cells, are regulated by the hemodynamic forces. It would be of great significance if we could treat hematologic diseases with induced HSCs in vitro on the basis of fully understanding of hemotopoietic stem cell development. This review is focused on the advances in the research of HSCs' development and regulation.

Chinese Journal of Radiology 2010;44(5):504-507
Objective To analyze the cause of missing diagnosis for vertebral fracture on lateral chest radiography. Methods Lateral chest radiographies of 1638 hospitalized patients (871 males and 767 females) were retrospectively reviewed for identifying vertebral fractures. Their ages ranged from 50 to 91 years with the mean of 63.5 years. Complains and application for chest radiography in all patients were not related to osteoporosis and vertebral fracture. Vertebral fracture and fracture severity were evaluated using Genant's semiquantitative visual method, taking approximately a 20%-25% vertebral height reduction as mild grade,26%-40% as moderate grade and 41% or greater as severe grade. Evaluation results of the vertebral fracture, original X-ray reports, as well as medical records were compared for further analysis. Results Eighty-four in 1638 patients showed vertebral fractures on the lateral chest radiographies. Of them, vertebral fractures were reported in 30 cases and 54 patients were not reported on their original X-ray reports. There were 63 vertebral fractures in 54 un-reported patients, most of which were single fracture (75% or 47/63). Grade Ⅰ fracture accounted for 54% (34/63), Grade Ⅱ fracture 33% (21/63), while 13% presented grade Ⅲ fracture (8/63). In all 84 patients with vertebral fractures, only 5 cases (6%)underwent dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) measurement, 5 cases ( 6% ) were recorded to have vertebral fractures on the medical papers, as well as 15 cases ( 18% ) were prescribed drugs related to the osteoporosis when discharged from hospital All drugs prescribed for the 15 patients were limited only to calcium. Conclusions More attention should be paid to osteoporosis by doctors including radiologists.Vertebral fracture on lateral chest radiography should be completely diagnosed, which is helpful for both prevention and treatment.

Objective To discuss the potential relationship between endometrial serous carcinoma (ESC) and tubal epithelial lesions by pathologic examination of fallopian tubes with ESC. Methods A total of 30 cases of typical ESC were reexamined and chosen by the pathologist. In each case, bilateral fallopian tubes were submitted to examination of pathologic morphology and immunostaining for p53, annexin Ⅳ(ANX-Ⅳ), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)/neu, and high-mobility group protein A2 (HMGA2). Results Fallopian tubal epithelial lesions were found in 15 cases, including 9 cases tubal serous carcinoma, 2 cases serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma (STIC) and 2 cases epithelial hyperplasia. Both sides of tubal serous carcinoma and STIC were found in 1 case. The results showed the positive expression for p53 in 26(87%)out of 30 endometrial malignant specimens tissues and 9(30%)tubal tissues samples (P>0.05). Twenty-five(83%)endometrial malignant specimens tissues and 6(20%)tubal tissues samples showed the positive expression of ANX-Ⅳ. Twenty-one(70%)endometrial malignant tissues and 7(23%) tubal tissues showed the positive expression of HER2/neu. Twenty-five(83%) endometrial malignant tissues and 6(20%)tubal tissues showed the positive expression of HMGA2. While, there were significant differences among the expression of three proteins between endometrium and the fallopian tube site (all P<0.05). Conclusions STIC may be associated with the occurrence of ESC. The expression of p53 was positively correlated between the fallopian tube and the endometrium. ANX-Ⅳ,HER2/neu and HMGA2 were extensively expressed in ESC.

Objective To study the effect of coenzymes complex combined with vitamin E on liver and kidney inju-ry induced by neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. Methods One hundred and fifty full-term neonatals with hyperbilirubinemia were chosen as observation groups, who were divided into mild, moderate and severe groups according bilirubin. Forty five healthy full-term newborns in the same period, who are either healthy or with physiological jaundice, were selected as con-trol group. Serum total bilirubin, gamma-glutamyl transferase (γ-GGT) , Malondialdehyde (MDA) and Cys-C were measured within 24 hours of hospital admission. The observation groups were randomly divided into regular and combined treatment groups. Coenzymes complex combined with vitamin E were given in addition to regular method to combined group while reg-ular group only received regular methods. All above biochemical indexes were tested in the 7th day after medication admin-istration. Results Serum MDA were higher in all observation groups (mild, moderate and severe groups) than in control group (P<0.05);but the levels ofγ-GGT and Cys-C increased in moderate and severe groups compared with control group (P<0.05). There were positive correlations (P<0.05) between levels of serum total bilirubin with MDA,γ-GGT and Cys-C. Positive linear correlation were found between MDA with γ-GGT and Cys-C(P<0.01). After early intervention,γ-GGT, Cys-C and MDA declined with drop of bilirubin level. This is more prominent and faster in a in combined treatment group than regular group (P<0.05).Conclusion In hyperbilirubinemia newborns, lipid peroxidation activated by bilirubin may lead to damages of liver and kidney. Coenzymes combined with vitamin E have protective effect to these damages.
