Objective To explore the prevalence and risk factors of stroke in a population over 40 years in a community in Shenzhen, China. Methods The subjects investigated were a population ≥40 years old in this cross-sectional study. Cluster sampling method was used to conduct the unified questionnaires, physical examination, and laboratory examination in the community residents, and then the survey data were used for online entry analysis. Results A total of 5 308 community residents were screened, and 160 experienced stroke. The crude prevalence of stroke was 3 014. 32/100 000. The prevalence of stroke increased with age, and that in males was significantly higher than that in females (3 721. 37/100 000 vs. 2 552. 93/100 000; χ2 = 5. 923, P = 0. 015). There were significant differences in the proportions of males, obvious overweight, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, atrial fibrillation, lack of physical activity, and family history of stroke, as well as age, systolic blood pressure, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and fasting glucose level between the stroke population and the non-stroke population (all P < 0. 05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that hypertension (odds ratio [OR] 1. 737, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1. 161-2. 600; P = 0. 007), diabetes (OR 1. 917, 95% CI 1. 209-3. 040; P = 0. 006), atrial fibrillation (OR 1. 699, 95% CI 1. 113-2. 592; P = 0. 014), family history of stroke (OR 1. 585, 95% CI 1. 126-2. 231; P = 0. 008), advanced age (OR 4. 645, 95% CI 1. 868-11. 551; P = 0. 001), and physical inactivity (OR 4. 921, 95% CI 3. 552-6. 187; P < 0. 001) were the independent risk factors for stroke, and lack of physical activity was an independent protective factor for stroke. The proportion of smoking in males was more than that in females in all ages(all P < 0. 05). The proportions of hypertension (P < 0. 001) and hyperlipidemia (P < 0. 001) were gradually increased with age, and physical exercise was gradually reduced with age (P = 0. 001, except for subjects > 80 years) in both males and females. The proportions of diabetes (P < 0. 001) and atrial fibrillation (P < 0. 001) in males, and obvious overweight (P = 0. 001) in females were gradually increased with age, and the proportion of smoking in males weas gradually reduced with age. The proportions of hypertension (P < 0. 001) and obvious overweight (P < 0. 001) in males were significantly higher than those in females at the age of 40 to 49 years. The proportions of hypertension (P < 0. 001), diabetes (P < 0. 001) and obvious overweight (P < 0. 001) in males were significantly higher than those in females at the age of 50 to 59 years. The proportion of hypertension in males was significantly higher than that in females at the age of 60 to 69 years (P = 0. 039). The proportions of hypertension (P = 0. 016), atrial fibrillation (P = 0. 028) and hyperlipidemia (P = 0. 023) in females were significantly higher than those in males at the age of 70 to 79 years. The proportion of obvious overweight in females was significantly higher than that in males at the age of ≥80 years (P =0. 001). Conclusions The crude prevalence of stroke is higher among the community residents. The the levels of exposure to stroke risk factors including hypertension, diabetes and atrial fibrillation are higher. It may be important to intervene on these risk factors in community residents, especially in elders and those with family history of stroke.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2011;28(4):748-752
Aseptic loosening is mainly mediated by bone resorption cytokines in the surrounding area of orthopaedic implants. Our previous investigation demonstrtated that different-sized titanium particles loading can inbibit the osteoblastic differentiation and mineraliztion. In order to investigate the hypothesis that particulate wear debris derived from prosthetic biomaterials affects the release of bone resorption related cytokines, we studied the influence of different-sized titanium particles loading on the osteoblastic cytokines by assaying the secretion of IL-6, IL-10 with use of ABC-quantitative sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and on the expression of osteoclast differentiation factors (ODF) by RT-PCR. The results showed that the 0.9 microm titanium particles promoted osteoblasts producing bone resorption cytokines (IL-6, ODF), and simultaneously secreted bone absorption restraining factor (IL-10) quickly and transitorily. In comparison, the 2.7 microm and 6.9 microm titanium particles, especially the latter primarily promoted osteoblasts secreting bone absorption promoting factors powerfully and slowly. The results suggested that there was a biphasic response appearing in titanium particles loaded-osteoblastic cultures, the level of which varied according to the different size and the loading time of titanium particles. This in vitro experimental result showed that attentaion to the inhibition of bone resorption cytokines stimulated by wear debris and to the screen potential favourable biomaterials for implants must be taken.

OBJECTIVE:To observe the efficacy and safety of Sanjiao fuzheng mixture combined with concurrent chemoradiotherapy of paclitaxel and nedaplatin in the treatment of local advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS:A total of 68 patients with local advanced NSCLC selected from our hospital during Jan. 2015 to Jan. 2017 were divided into control group and observation group according to random number table, with 34 cases in each group. Control group was given Paclitaxel injection 135 mg/m2 intravenously,d1+Nedaplatin for injection 75 mg/m2 intravenously,d3,21 d as a treatment course, for 2 courses;routine fractionated intensity modulated radiation therapy,2 Gy each time,5 times a week,60-70 Gy in total;given 2 cycles of primary chemotherapy continuously after radiotherapy. Observation group was additionally given Sanjiao fuzheng mixture 250 mL/d,divided into 3 times, till the end of treatment,on the basis of control group. Clinical efficacies were observed in 2 groups. The levels of nutritional indexes (BMI,PAB,ALB,Hb) and tumor markers (SCC-Ag,CEA,TK1, CYFRA21-10) before and after treatment were observed. The occurrence of ADR were recorded. RESULTS:There was no statistical significance in the total effective rate between 2 groups (observation group 82.35% vs. control group 73.53%)(P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of BMI,PAB,ALB and Hb in 2 groups were significantly lower than before treatment, but the observation group was significantly higher than the control group. The levels of SCC-Ag,CEA,TK1 and CYFRA21-1 in 2 groups were significantly lower than before treatment, and the observation group was significantly lower than the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05). The incidence of Ⅲ-Ⅳ degree aleucocytosis,Ⅰ-Ⅱ degree hemoglobin reduction and thrombocytopenia in observation group were significantly lower than control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:The efficacy of Sanjiao fuzheng mixture combined with concurrent chemoradiotherapy of paclitaxel and nedaplatin is similar to that of concurrent chemoradiotherapy of paclitaxel and nedaplatin for localadvanced NSCLC,which can improve nutritional status significantly, and reduce the incidence of ADR.

Objective:To investigate the changes in cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) characteristics before and after the outbreak of COVID-19 in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Methods:This is a cross-sectional study that included ACS patients who underwent PCI at the General Hospital of the Northern Theater Command from July 2018 to February 2023. Based on the timeline of the COVID-19 pandemic, patients were divided into two groups: the pre-pandemic group and the during-pandemic group, with January 2020 as the dividing line. Clinical data were collected from both groups, and a comparative analysis was performed on their postoperative CPET outcomes, including peak oxygen uptake (peak VO 2), peak metabolic equivalents (peak MET), and other indicators. Weber′s classification was used to assess cardiac function. In addition, the 7-tiem generalized anxiety disorder scale (GAD-7) and the patient health questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) were used to assess the patients′ psychological anxiety and depression states, respectively. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of CPET after PCI. Results:A total of 4 310 post-PCI ACS patients were included, with an average age of (58.7±9.1) years, and 3 464 (80.37%) were male. There were 1 698 patients in the pre-pandemic group and 2 612 patients in the during-pandemic group. The main indicator of the CPET, peak VO 2 (15.04±3.93) ml·min -1·kg -1 in the during-pandemic group, was lower than that in the pre-pandemic group (15.52±3.68) ml·min -1·kg -1, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.001). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that advanced age, female gender, high body mass index, elevated high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, smoking history, history of myocardial infarction, more severe ACS classification, and mild to moderate degree of depression were related to poor cardiopulmonary outcomes ( P<0.05). Conclusion:The COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on the cardiopulmonary outcomes of ACS patients after PCI. Reduced physical activity, and increased psychological stress should be given consideration and attention regarding their impact on patients′ cardiopulmonary function.
