Objective To summarize the therapeutic effect of recombinant human growth hormone and early enteral nutrition in severely burned patients. Methods 35 cases were randomly divided into group EN and group PN.Group EN was treated with early enteral nutrition(EEN) and recombiant human growth hormone(rhGH) ,while group PN was given parenteral nutrition. The plasma levels of pre-albumin (PA), C-reactive protein (CRP) , tunmor necrosis factor α(TNFα) ,fasting blood glucose(FBG) were measured after burn injury. Comparision was made in length of hospital stay, wound healing time, incidence of burn sepsis, gastrointestinal stress ulcer bleeding and enteral nutrition intoleranc. Results Incidence of burn sepsis, gastrointestinal stress ulcer bleeding and enteral nutrition intoleranc in group EN were significantly lower than those of group PN(P < 0.05). The serum levels of CRP、TNFα、FBG in group EN were significantly lower than those of group PN (P < 0.05). The serum PA was decreased at all times in two periods and was markedly decreased in group EN(P <0.05). Length of hospital stay and the healing time of donor site, deep partial thickness burn wound, skin transplantion area were significantly shortened in group EN compared with group PN. Conclusion Early enteral nutrition was beneficial for the improving of nutrition state of the burn patients, and the reduction of the incidence of burn sepsis and the hospitalization time.

AIM: To investigate the effects of simvastatin on myocardial fibrosis and connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) in renovascular hypertensive rats. METHODS: The experimental rats were randomly divided into three groups, such as sham operation group rats, hyperpiesia rats and hyperpiesia rats treated with simvastatin (5 mg㎏kg -1 ?d -1 ). Systolic blood pressure (SBP) was measured and collagen concentration (Coll) was also detected in terms of hydroxyproline concentration. VanGieson and immunohistochemistry staining combined with computed morphometry were used to evaluate the total collagen volume fraction (CVF) and CTGF expression in left ventricular tissue. RESULTS: Compared with sham operation group rats, the SBP,CVF, Coll and CTGF expression increased markedly in hyperpiesia rats (P

Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacy of acupuncture at myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) in treating cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type. Methods Ninety-eight patients with cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type were randomized into a treatment group of 51 cases and a control group of 47 cases. The treatment group was intervened by acupuncture at the MTrPs, while the control group was by injection of medical solution for anti-inflammation and analgesia. The positive rate of rotate-cervix test, dizziness score, and visual analogue scale (VAS) of the head and neck pain were compared before and after intervention. Results After intervention, the positive rate, dizziness score, and VAS score were significantly changed in both groups (P<0.05). There were significant differences in comparing the positive rate, dizziness score, and VAS score between the two groups after intervention (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 96.1%in the treatment group versus 76.6%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture at the MTrPs can improve the dizziness and head-neck pain in patients with cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type.

This paper introduces such information of a LCD graphic display system based on SED1335 as its hardware link with the singlechip computer Atmega128 and the design of system display software. With a simple, compact and stable circuit, this system can be applied to portable medical signal monitoring and controlling equipments.

For the purpose of monitoring real-time information of infant bed-wetting,this paper presents a medical digital wireless monitoring system with low-cost and high-performance. Its hardware is based on micro-controller,MSP430 ultra low-power and RF IC,nRF905 single wireless chip. With this wireless system,real-time information of infant bed-wetting can be monitored, and thus the nurses' work load can be reduced.

Power analyses(samples size calculation)is critical in protocol design for clinical trials.Adequate power ensures the credibility and reliability of the clinical trial results. In this article,omega-3 fatty acid supplementation study is chosen as an example to explain the power analysis in practice during the study design.First, obtaine the parameter estimates from the high-quality literature review and relevant systematic review(meta analyses)results. Then, calculate the sample size under different parameter settings and select the final patient number according to the clinical practice.Based on the above information, statistical simulation is performed to assume diverse possible combination of the outcome in real clinical trial.Further, under the specific determined sample size, the simulation pointing out the different positive or negative results when the real clinical trial is conducted. The determination of sample size of a clinical trial should be based on both the clinical and statistical considerations.

Objective To analyze the effect of a combined strategy of enteral nutrition in the prevention and treatment of patients with severe bum sepsis. Methods 46 cases were random divided into combined group (group C) and routine group (group R). Besides general supportive treatment, group C was treated with early enteral feeding (EEF) ,recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) and gluta-mine (Gln), while group R was given general supportive treatment only. The plasma concentration levels of pre-albumin (PA) , C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT) and tumor necrosis factora (TNFα) were measured immediately after hospitalization and postbum day (PBD)7, 14,28. Results The survival rate of group C was significantly higher than group R. The incidence of sepsis, the complication of heart and gastrointestin in group C was significantly lower than group R ( P < 0. 01 ~ 0.05). The days in hospitalization of group C was shorter than that of group R. Plasma PA levels was decreased in two groups and was markedly decreased in the group R( P < 0. 01 ~ 0.05). Plasma CRP, PCT and TNFαlevels were both increased in two groups and markedly increased in the group R ( P < 0.001 ~ 0.05). Conclusions We have shown that a combined method including rhGH, EEF, Gln and anisodamin can effectively reduce the morbidity and mortality rates of burn sepsis and improve prognosis.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of heat-sensitive moxibustion in treating post-stroke urinary incontinence. Method Ninety patients with post-stroke urinary incontinence were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 45 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by heat-sensitive moxibustion at Qihai (CV 6), Guanyuan (CV 4), and Sanyinjiao (SP 6), while the control group was by moxa-box moxibustion. After 4-week treatment, the two groups were compared with each in the incontinence grading and Activities of Daily Living (ADL).Result After treatment, the incontinence grading and ADL scores were significantly changed in both groups (P<0.05). The incontinence grading and ADL scores of the treatment group were significantly different from that of the control group after treatment (P<0.05).Conclusion Heat-sensitive moxibustion can improve the post-stroke urinary incontinence and ADL.
