Objectives To describe the esthetic acceptance to dental fluorosis in the rural residents of eastern Guangdong Province and to explore whether the Dean's criteria is still suitable for modern society. Methods A survey was conducted in eastern areas of Guangdong Province in 1 237 cases of 9~17 and 35~44 years old rural residents who drank well water containing 0.1~2.5 mg/L of fluoride. Clinical examination and questionnaire investigation were performed to record dental fluorosis and the severity of perceived appearance of their teeth. Results While the study subjects perceived the appearance of their teeth as " no problem", the community fluorosis index (CFI) was 0.5 and prevalence rate of dental fluorosis was 10.1 %. While perceived "a little bit bad" and "bad" and "very bad", the CFI and prevalence rate would be 0.9 and 33.7 %, 1.3 and 75.8 % and 1.7 and 98.2 % respectively. Conclusion The acceptance to the severity was basically in accordance with Dean's criteria. The Dean's criteria about dental fluorosis is still suitable for rural areas of eastern Guangdong Province and therefore it can be used in setting criteria of fluoride concentration in drinking water in these areas.

Objective To learn the influence on the outcome of the pregnant by measuring the type Ⅲ antibody of Group B Streptococcus(GBS). Methods During December 31, 1997 to December 31, 2000, 28 pregnant women whose GBS screening were positive were selected as study group while 46 negative as control group. Vaginal swab cultures were conducted in 74 pregnant women at different gestational periods(before 20 gestational weeks, 20~28 weeks and after 34 weeks). After birth maternal and cord blood samples were collected immediately for the test of GBS IgG antibody with ELISA method. Results 28 of 74 women(37.8%)were GBS culture positive in the antenatal screening. The obstetrical complications such as gestational diabetes millitus, impaired glucose tolerance test, fetal growth retardation, premature rupture of membrane, threatened premature labor and asphyxia of newborn have no significant difference between the GBS carrier group and non-carrier group. The result was same for the newborns. The antibody(IgG)of GBS value of the 74 pairs of maternal and cord blood samples showed that the values of IgG in maternal blood samples and cord blood samples were (3.1?2.2) mg/L and (2.3?1.8) mg/L, respectively,r=0.86,P

Journal of International Oncology 2012;39(10):778-781
Treatment of gynaeeological cancer frequently results in the loss of ovarian function and menopausal syndrome. The most effective treatment is hormone replacement therapy (HRT).According to the current studies,HRT does not increase the risk of recurrence or death in patients with early stage endometrial cancer and uterine leiomyosarcomas. The safety of HRT in ovarian cancer patients is inconclusive. Cervical squamous cell carcinoma, vaginal cancer and vulvar cancer are not contraindications for HRT. Estrogen replacement therapy (ERT) is contraindicated for low-grade endometrial stromal sarcomas. Therefore, after integrated risk assessment and discussion, patients with severe menopausal symptoms can be treated with HRT to improve the quality of life.

Objective:To investigate the key mechanism of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) inducing the expression of interleukin-17D (IL-17D) in lung cancer-associated fibroblast (CAF) and promoting the recruitment of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs).Methods:C57BL/6 mice were established for B16 lung melanoma metastasis model (tumor model group), and control group was set up, 6 mice in each group. Flow cytometry (FACS) was used to detect the lung CAF and the changes of its ability to secrete IL-17D and the proportion of MDSCs in tumor mice. The changes of TGF-β level in lung tumor were examined by ELISA and quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR). Lung fibroblasts were screened by FACS, and the effects of TGF-β on the secretion of IL-17D, C-C motif chemokine ligand (CCL)2 and CCL7 in fibroblasts were detected by RT-PCR. The migration of MDSCs under the condition of TGF-β stimulating fibroblasts was detected by Transwell. Results:The proportion of CAF (CD45 -CD326 -CD31 -) in the tumor model group was higher than that in the control group [(28.02±2.23)% vs. (7.35±2.14)%, t=9.956, P<0.001]. The ability of CAF to secrete IL-17D in the tumor model group was significantly higher than that in the control group [(38.27±2.93)% vs. (19.04±3.16)%, t=5.995, P=0.001]. The proportion of MDSCs in the tumor model group was significantly higher than that in the control group [(12.93±1.27)% vs. (8.21±1.40)%, t=4.804, P=0.009]. Compared with the control group, the protein and transcription levels of TGF-β in lung of the tumor model group were significantly increased [(1 685.07±135.61) ng/L vs. (1 047.98±68.50) ng/L, t=5.051, P=0.002; 2.17±0.03 vs. 1.00±0.05, t=51.237, P<0.001]. In vitro, lung fibroblasts were stimulated with different concentrations of TGF-β (0, 5 and 10 μg/L) for 24 hours, the relative expressions of IL-17D mRNA secreted by stimulated fibroblasts were 0.42±0.01, 0.67±0.01 and 0.84±0.04 respectively, the relative expressions of CCL2 mRNA in each group were 0.89±0.08, 1.08±0.04, 1.19±0.01 and CCL7 were 0.53±0.05, 0.65±0.04, 0.74±0.03 respectively. With the increase of TGF-β concentration, the expression levels of IL-17D, CCL2 and CCL7 in fibroblasts were significantly increased ( F=57.384, P<0.001; F=15.802, P=0.004; F=14.544, P=0.005). In addition, compared with the control group (0 μg/L TGF-β), fibroblasts treated with 10 μg/L TGF-β for 24 hours could promote the migration of MDSCs in spleen of tumor mice [(9.59±0.21)% vs. (2.14±0.24)%, t=6.585, P<0.001]. Conclusion:TGF-β can induce high expression of IL-17D in lung CAF, which is an important factor in promoting the expressions of CCL2 and CCL7 and the migration of MDSCs in tumor microenvironment.

Since December 2019, the novel coronavirus (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, SARS-CoV-2) infection has broken out worldwide, causing enormous social and economic burdens.Sudden exacerbations in SARS-CoV-2 infected people may be caused by infection-related cytokine storms. The basic state of the body and the strength of the immune response determine the prognosis of SARS-CoV-2.The interaction between proinflammatory factors and anti-inflammatory factors, and continued proinflammatory response cause lung edema, exudation, progression to acute respiratory distress syndrome involving the lung tissues and organs, multi-organ failure, and even death. The efficacy of antiviral therapy alone for immune complications like cytokine storm during viral infection is not ideal, and the targeted therapy of cytokines has become a potentially popular therapeutic strategy.Early identification and appropriate treatment of immune complications contribute to reduce the morbidity and mortality of severe viral infections.
