Objective Tofollowupandanalyzetheoccurrenceofcerebrovascularischemiceventsin patientswithinternalcarotidarteryocclusion(ICAO).Methods Atotalof144consecutivepatients with ICAO admitted to the Department of Neurology,the Air Force General Hospital from January 2007 to January 2012 were enrolled retrospectively. All patients were confirmed as unilateral ICAO with DSA and they were divided into either a symptomatic group (n=74)or an asymptomatic group (n=70)according to whether they had the symptoms of ischemic cerebrovascular disease or not. Both patients of the 2 groups were followed up for at least 2 years. Their transient ischemic attack (TIA)and endpoint events were observed,including new symptomatic cerebral infarction,death from any cause,as well as patency of collateral circulation,andthefollow-upresultsbetweenthetwogroupswerecompared.Results Twenty-one patients (28. 4%)of the symptomatic group had new attack of cerebral infarction,10 cases (13. 5%)had TIA,and 4 cases (5. 4%)died;9 patients (12.9%)of the asymptomatic group had new attack of cerebral infarction,4 cases (5 . 7%)had TIA,and no patients died. Risk of recurrent stroke in patients of the symptomatic group was higher than that of the asymptomatic group (P=0. 025). Kaplan-Meier curves showed that the incidence of endpoint event of the symptomatic group was higher than that of the asymptomatic group (χ2 =8. 428,P =0. 004). There was significant difference in the patent ratio of the primary collateral circulation between the symptomatic group and the asymptomatic group (64. 9%[48/74] vs. 91. 4%[64/70];P=0. 000);the patent ratio of the primary collateral circulation in patients with new cerebral infarction was significantly lower than that in patients without new cerebral infarction (60. 0%[18/30]vs.82.5%[94/114];P=0.013).Conclusion ThepatientswithsymptomaticICAOaremore likely to have cerebral infarction,and they are likely to die. After ICAO,the primary collateral circulation patent has a significant effect on the prognosis.

Objective To compare intraindividual higher-order aberrations(HOA)after implantation of aspherical and spherical intraocular lenses(IOL).Design Prospective,case-controlled study.Participants 33 patients(66 eyes)were between 50 and 76 years of ages.The patients with bilateral senile cataracts were operated with phacoemulsification and IOL implantation.All the patients had no other ocular pathologies and no previous ophthalmic surgery.Patients with keratometric astigmatism higher than-2.0 diopters(D)were excluded from the study.Methods Wavefront aberration measurements of 33 patients(66 eyes)after implantation of a spherical IOL(Canon Staar KS-3)in one eye and an aspherical IOL(Cannon Staar KS-3Ai)in the contralateral eye were analyzed.The eyes were randomly assigned to groups of the spherical IOL or the aspherical IOL.Third-order,4th-order,5th-order,total HOA root-mean-squares(RMS),and 4th-order spherical aberrations(Z40)were compared 3 months after surgery.Main Outcome Measures Visual acuity(VA),the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),the centrality of IOL,refraction data,diameter of pupil size,3rd-order,4th-order,5th-order and total HOA RMS,and 4th-order spherical aberration(Z40)RMS were measured.Results Fourth-order aberration RMS(0.193?0.098?m),Z40 RMS(0.037?0.099?m),total HOA RMS(0.498?0.072?m)in the aspherical IOL group were lower than those with the spherical IOL(0.403?0.155?m,0.381?0.142?m,0.737?0.164?m,respectively)at 6mm pupil diameter.For 3rd-and 5th-order RMS at 6mm pupil diameter,total HOA RMS(at 5mm pupil diameter),no significant difference was found in both IOLs.Under mesopic conditions,ten patients(30%)with an aspheric IOL had better contrast sensitivity.The average myopic shift were(-0.29?0.09)D and(-0.87?0.16)D in the aspherical and spherical IOL groups at 6mm pupil diameter(P

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between the variation of chloroplast DNA gene sequences and the geographical origins of Polygonum capitatum in order to provide the molecular evidence for its excellent germplasm resources.

METHODPCR direct sequencing was applied to detect the chloroplast psbA-trnH, trnL-trnF gene sequence of 11 samples collected from 11 populations of P. capitatum.

RESULTThe psbA-trnH gene sequence of P. capitatum from different populations was 402 bp in length, there were 6 variable sites. TrnL-F gene sequence was 875 bp, there were 5 variable sites. The clusters diagram by UPGMA method showed that P. capitatum groups in Yunnan and Guizhou existed a considerable variation.

CONCLUSIONP. capitaturni which is located in the east of Yunnan and the west of Guizhou is helpful of screening the germplasm resources.

OBJECTIVETo study the biomass structure of Epimedium acuminatum Franch in the different ecological environments for the development and protection.

METHODThrough the scientific investigation in four typical habitats, the sampling spots were set up, the functional modules' biomass structure and relationship of E. acuminatum were researched.

RESULTThe average of rhizome, as the largest biomass, and the average total biomass had the same pattern: the open areas of forest edge > shrub lumber > shrub-weed > stream drains. The ratio of the functional modules' biomass had different rates under different habitat conditions. By analyzing and combining investigation, the aerial part of E. acuminatum in the shrub-weed were comparative advantage, and the roots of nutrient accumulation of E. acuminatum in the open areas of forest edge were the highest efficient. Under different ecological condition, the distribution of water metabolism was different strategies.

CONCLUSIONIn the open areas of forest edge, E. acuminatum growing well, followed by shrub-weed. These two habitats are the ideal ecological environments while the rhizome or the whole plant used as medicine, but also the protection of E. acuminatum.

OBJECTIVETo study the relationship between the genetic diversity and chemical variation of Cinnamomum migao.

METHODISSR marker technique was used to research the genetic structure of 9 population, GC-MS was used to analyze the main ingredients of the volatile oil in C. migao.

RESULTThe analysis on the main ingredients of the volatile oil showed that there were significant or extremely significant differences in 9 populations. The minimum variation index of population was Yunnan Funing and the maximum variation index of population was Guangxi Yueye. ISSR marker analysis showed that the average of polymorphic loci percentage (P) was 42.41%, expected heterozygosity (H) was 0.181 0, Shannon's information index (I) was 0.293 8, the Nei's genetic diversity (H(s)) in the group was 0.188 9, genetic differentiation index (G(st)) was 2.269 1. The relationship between the genetic diversity and chemical variation showed that there was no significant correlation between the main ingredients of the volatile oil and 4 indexes of genetic structure of C. migao.

CONCLUSIONThe genetic diversity of C. migao was relatively high at the population levels, while it is low within the population levels, the relationship between chemical variation and genetic diversity was not obvious, that may indicate that other factors causes the chemical variation of C. migao.

OBJECTIVETo detect genetic diversity of 48 population of Polygonum capitatum in Guizhou province.

METHODThe genetic diversity of 48 representational populations of P. capitatum including 240 individuals had been investigated by ISSR marker technique.

RESULTThe genetic diversity had been revealed as follow: A total of 8 293 bands were produced in 240 individuals, of which 7 962 bands were common in the 48 population. The value of the average percentage of polymorphic bands (PPB) was 79.09%, Nei's genetic diversity index (H(e)) was 0.245 8, Shannon's information index (I) was 0.396 2, and genetic differentiation index (G(st)) was 0.238 0 at population level, respectively. The genetic differentiation index (G(st)) was 0.072 2, genetic differentiation coefficient by Shannon's diversity (I(st)) was 0.044 2 within the population levels. Groups cluster analysis based on the UPGMA method indicated that although the 48 populations could be divided into 3 groups and the P. capitatum seed sources. The groups cluster showed that a cross clustering of P. capitatum between the southwest and southeast populations in Guizhou province, and no significant correlation was found between geographical and genetic distance among them.

CONCLUSIONThe genetic diversity of P. capitatum is relatively high at the population levels, while low within the population levels, a significant degree of genetic differentiation occurs among the populations. The groups cluster analysis indicated they has not apparent genetic variation in regional pattern between the place of origin populations and the migrate populations.

Objective: To study the value of unmethylated cytosine guanine dinucleotide oligodeoxynucleotide (DSP30) and IL-2 in the conventional cytogenetic (CA) detection of the chromosomal aberrations in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) . Methods: Bone marrow or peripheral blood cells of CLL patients were cultured with DSP30 plus IL-2 for 72 h, following which R-banding analysis was conducted. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was performed in 85 patients. CA results were compared with data obtained by FISH. Results: Among 89 CLL patients, the success rate of chromosome analysis was 94.38% (84/89) . Clonal aberrations were detected in 51 patients (51/84, 60.71%) . Of them, 27 (27/51, 52.94%) were complex karyotype. Among 85 CLL patients tested by FISH, chromosomal abnormalities were detected in 74 (74/85, 87.06%) patients, of which 2 (2/74) patients were complex karyotypes, accounting for 2.70%. Of the 85 CLL patients examined by FISH, 50 had abnormal karyotype analysis, 30 had normal karyotype, 5 failed to have chromosome analysis. Among them, 25 cases showed clonal aberrations by FISH assay but normal by CA, and 4 cases were normal by FISH but displayed aberrations in chromosome analysis, and totally 78 (91.76%) cases with abnormality detected by the combination of the two methods. The frequency of 13q- abnormality detected by FISH was significantly higher than that by CA analysis (69.41%vs 16.67%, P<0.001) , while the frequency of 11q-,+12 and 17p- detected by two methods showed no significant difference (P>0.05) . The detection rate of complex abnormalities in conventional karyotype analysis was higher than that in FISH (50.98%vs 2.70%) . In addition, 11 low-risk and 9 intermediate-risk patients according to FISH results showed complex karyotype by cytogenetics, and were classified into high-risk cytogenetic subgroup. Conclusion DSP30 and IL-2 are effective in improving the detection rate of CA in CLL patients (60.71%) and CA is more effective to detect complex karyotype. However, FISH had a higher overall abnormality detection rate (87.06%) than CA, especially for 13q-. The combination of CA and FISH not only enhanced the detection rate of clonal aberrations to 91.76%, but also provided more precise prognosis stratification for CLL patients, thus to provide more information for clinical implication.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of oral mucosal diseases (OMD) in patients with cerebrovascular disease. Methods: A total of 182 patients with cerebrovascular disease and 166 controls were examined for OMD to compare the differences of prevalence rates. Results: The prevalence of OMD in patients with cerebrovascular disease appeared higher than that in the control group. Oral candidiasis was most commonly seen (11.1%, 20/182), followed by fissured tongue (5.0%, 9/182), traumatic ulcer (2.8%, 5/182), herpes labialis (2.2%, 4/182), recurrent oral ulcer (1.6%, 3/182), chronic cheilitis (1.6%, 3/182) and oral leukokeratosis (1.6%, 3/182). Conclusion Patients with cerebrovascular diseases were susceptible to OMDs, especially to oral candidiasis that called for more attention.
