BACKGROUND:Shape memory polymer is a new type of functional material. The applications of shape memory polymers in the biomedical field have increasingly been paid close attention. OBJECTIVE: To summarize the characteristics and applications of shape memory polymers. METHODS: SpringerLink and China Journal Ful text Database were searched for articles related to shape memory polymers. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: As a new type of inteligence material, shape memory polymers have lots of advantages compared with shape memory aloy and shape memory ceramics, such as low density, light weight, low cost, high shape-recovery rate, easy to regulate the shape memory temperature, to dye, to shape and to be stimulated under expected switch temperature. Especialy for polyurethane, the structure-property relationships are extremely easy to control, the shape memory temperature can be set in a wide range from-30℃ to 70℃, and it has the biocompatibility. Due to these, shape memory polymers have great potentials in applications of biomedical engineering. But the comprehensive properties of the developed shape memory polymers are not satisfactory. For example, the polynorbornene has big recovery stress, fast recovery velocity and high recovery precision, but its relative molecular mass is very big, the molecularchain is long, and processing is difficult. Furthermore, most of shape memory polymers have smal recovery stress, slow recovery velocity, low recovery precision and unsatisfied repeat memory effect. The key problems for shape memory polymers include optimization of the function of shape memory and improvement of the comprehensive properties based on the technologies of molecular design and material modification.

Objective To analyze the prevalence and risk factors of anemia in a general population in Kailuan. Methods Working and retired employees m Kailuan Company who had participated in biennial physical examination from 2006-2014 were investigated by questionnaire and blood test.Hemoglobin levels< 120 g/L in male and< 110 g/L in female are defined as anemia. The trend of prevalence of anemia was analyzed by chi square test.Multivariable logistic regression was used to analyze the factors associated with anemia. Results (1) The biennial prevalence of anemia in Kailuan during 2006-2014 were 3.7%,3.1%,2.4%,1.3%,1.5%.The corresponding proportion were 3.3%,2.3%,1.9%,0.8%,1.0% in males and 5.3%,5.9%,4.2%,3.1% and 3.3% in females, respectively. The differences between males and females were statistically significant (all P<0.05).The prevalence of anemia declined over time (P for trend<0.05).(2) The results of multivariable logistic regression showed that aging and elevated hs-CRP were positively associated with anemia, with OR=1.01 (95%CI 1.01-1.02)and 1.03 (95%CI 1.02-1.03),respectively.While male,BMI,physical exercise, smoking, hyperlipidemia were negatively associated with anemia with OR=0.60(95%CI 0.55-0.65),0.99 (95%CI 0.98-0.99),0.91 (95%CI 0.82-0.98),0.87 (95%CI 0.81-0.95)and 0.87(95%CI0.81-0.94),respectively.Conclusions The prevalence of anemia in a large general population in Kailuan has been analyzed.Prevalence of anemia is higher in males than females and declines over time.Several demographic and clinical characteristics are associated with anemia.

ObjectiveTo explore the mechanism of Jiawei Wendantang in preventing and treating diabetic atherosclerosis by observing the effect of this prescription on the nuclear factor-κB / NOD-like receptor protein 3(NF-κB/NLRP3) pathway and related inflammatory cytokines in rat model of diabetic atherosclerosis. MethodFifty-four SPF-grade rats were randomized into blank, model, atorvastatin (0.9 mg·kg-1·d-1), and high-, medium-, low-dose (18.2, 9.1, 4.55 g·kg-1·d-1, respectively) Jiawei Wendantang groups. The rats in other groups except the blank group were modeled for diabetic atherosclerosis by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin and feeding with a high-sugar high-fat diet, and those in the blank group were injected with an equal dose of citric acid buffer and fed with a regular diet. The drug administration lasted for 4 weeks, and the blood glucose level in the tail vein was measured every 6 days. After the last administration, the rats were anesthetized for sample collection. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was employed to measure the serum levels of interleukin-18 (IL-18), C-reactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1). Western blot was employed to determine the relative protein levels of NF-κB p65, NLRP3, and ICAM-1 in the abdominal aorta. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction was employed to determine the mRNA levels of NLRP3 and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in the abdominal aorta. The pathological changes in the thoracic aorta were observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining. ResultCompared with the blank group, the model group showed elevated levels of IL-18, CRP, TNF-α, and ICAM-1 in the serum and blood glucose (P<0.05, P<0.01), up-regulated protein levels of NF-κB p65, NLRP3, and ICAM-1 (P<0.01), and up-regulated mRNA levels of NLRP3 and IL-1β (P<0.05). Compared with model group, Jiawei Wendantang lowered the levels of IL-18, CRP, TNF-α, ICAM-1 and blood glucose (P<0.05, P<0.01), down-regulated the protein levels of NF-κB p65, NLRP3, and ICAM-1 (P<0.01), and down-regulated the mRNA levels of NLRP3 and IL-1β (P<0.05, P<0.01). Moreover, Jiawei Wendantang alleviated the pathological injuries in the thoracic aorta. ConclusionJiawei Wendantang may modulate the NF-κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway to reduce the release and adhesion of inflammatory cytokines and regulate the blood glucose level to treat diabetic atherosclerosis.

As guided by the policy of building national regional medical centers, it is imperative to advance the construction of the national regional medical centers for mental health to achieve the sustainable and balanced development of the mental health cause of the country. The authors summarized the current status of national regional medical centers, and analyzed challenges faced in management and operation mode, government investment and compensation mechanism, expansion of high-quality psychiatric medical resources, as well as research and innovation of mental diseases of these centers. On such basis, the authors put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions for the next stage of development.
