Fused teeth is defined as the union of enamel and dentin of two or more teeth germs, yielding a single tooth during tooth develop-ment.Their treatment is complex and usually need multidisciplinary approaches. This report presents a case of fused teeth treated by he-misection and discusses the clinical features and treatment options.

Objective To evaluate the clnical value of percutaneous nephrolithotomy combined with flexible cystoscope in the treatment of complicated renal calculi. Methods Data of 53 cases of complex renal calculi treated with single channel percutaneous nephrolithotomy combined with flexible cystoscope from July 2011 to September 2013 were analyzed retrospectively. There were 31 males and 22 females.Their age ranged from 26 to 74 years with a mean age of 49 years.Thirty-two cases were located on the left side,19 cases right,2 cases bilateral,21 cases of staghorn calculi and 32 cases of multiple stones. All the stones were filled in 2 or more calyces, with 7 cases in upper ureteral stones at the same time and 2 cases in solitary kidney. The longest diameter of stones was between 2.5 cm to 4.6 cm,with an average of 3.7 cm.There were 39 cases with hydronephrosis and the separation of the collection system was 2.0-5.1 cm with an average of 3.8cm.The period which patients suffered from stones was from 1 month to 6 years.Fourteen cases underwent ESWL and 6 cases underwent open operation before percutaneous nephrolithotomy. All patients underwent single channel percutaneous nephrolithotomy under the guidance of color Doppler ultrasound, and the channel of puncture was expanded to 24 F.Results Fifty-three cases (55 sides) were performed successfully in one-stage sugery and the operation time was between 85 to 170 min, with an average of 119 min.Thestone clearance rate was 89% (49/55) and postoperative hemoglobin decreased 3.9-9.2 g/L with an average of 6.1 g/L.The hospitalization time was 8 to 12 days with an average of 9.2 days. Two cases had hemorrhage of about 500 ml after surgery and the renal hemorrhage stopped after clamping of renal fistula without blood transfusion. Two patients suffered from fever on surgery day and 1 patient on one day after surgery, and the body temperature returned to normal level after anti-infection treatment for 2 or 3 days.No renal perforation, fluid pneumothorax or damaged surrounding organs occurred.6 patients had residual stones, among which 2 were treated by two-stage operation and 4 were treated with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. Conclusion Percutaneous nephrolithotomy combined with flexible cystoscope has little trauma and high stone clearance rate in the treatment of complex renal calculi with high clinical value.

Objective:To explore the research status of artificial intelligence in nursing in China, so as to provide reference for conducting research domestically. Methods:The relevant literature collected from January 1, 2003 to May 1, 2023 was searched on China National Knowledge Infrastructure, WanFang Data, and VIP. CiteSpace and VOS viewer were used to visually analyze the research status, hotspots, and frontiers of artificial intelligence in nursing in China from the aspects of annual publication volume, region, institution, author, high-frequency keywords, and emerging words. Results:A total of 494 articles were included. In terms of publication volume, domestic research showed an overall upward trend, with publishing institutions mostly concentrated in economically developed and medically advanced regions. The authors of the articles often collaborated with research groups, with a co-authorship rate of 81.17% (401/494), but there was relatively little collaboration between groups. Research hotspots were focused on the application of artificial intelligence in geriatric nursing, rehabilitation nursing, Operating Rooms, and drug formulation, with a majority of research related to robots. Conclusions:The research enthusiasm in related fields in China is currently on the rise. Research on artificial intelligence in nursing management, nursing education, and psychological nursing can be strengthened, and the application of artificial intelligence can be enriched. At the same time, research institutions and personnel should strengthen mutual cooperation, and relevant national departments should improve laws and regulations to promote the vigorous development of this research field.

Objective:To analyze the current research status of ideological and political education content in domestic nursing courses and facilitate nursing education reform. Methods:Using purposeful sampling, 25 exemplary cases of ideological and political education in nursing courses from Xinhua Net were selected. NVivo 12 software was employed for content analysis, summarizing the ideological and political elements, carriers of these elements, and types of integration methods in nursing courses. Results:Nursing educators have thoroughly explored ideological and political elements, with the most attention given to professional ethics, though less focus was placed on personality development. A variety of carriers for ideological and political elements were utilized, with practical experience being the most common, but there was a lack of integration with policy and regulations. Various integration methods were applied, with interactive methods being the most frequently used, while practical approaches were less common. Conclusions:Future nursing education should emphasize fostering students' sense of national identity and focus more on personality development. It is important to promote a more balanced use of carriers for ideological and political elements, paying particular attention to policy-related content. The use of information technology in teaching should also be explored to flexibly apply various teaching methods, achieving the subtle integration of ideological and political education within nursing curricula.

A novel RNA virus, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is responsible for the ongoing outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Population genetic analysis could be useful for investigating the origin and evolutionary dynamics of COVID-19. However, due to extensive sampling bias and existence of infection clusters during the epidemic spread, direct applications of existing approaches can lead to biased parameter estima-tions and data misinterpretation. In this study, we first present robust estimator for the time to the most recent common ancestor (TMRCA) and the mutation rate, and then apply the approach to analyze 12,909 genomic sequences of SARS-CoV-2. The mutation rate is inferred to be 8.69 × 10-4 per site per year with a 95% confidence interval (CI) of [8.61 × 10-4, 8.77 × 10-4], and the TMRCA of the samples inferred to be Nov 28, 2019 with a 95% CI of [Oct 20, 2019, Dec 9, 2019]. The results indicate that COVID-19 might originate earlier than and outside of Wuhan Seafood Market. We further demonstrate that genetic polymorphism patterns, including the enrichment of specific haplotypes and the temporal allele frequency trajectories generated from infection clusters, are similar to those caused by evolutionary forces such as natural selection. Our results show that population genetic methods need to be developed to efficiently detangle the effects of sampling bias and infection clusters to gain insights into the evolutionary mechanism ofSARS-CoV-2.
