Purpose To investigate 1H-MRS in differentiating intracranial lymphoma from tumor-like demyelinating lesions. Materials and Methods Thirty-three cases of intracranial lymphoma confirmed by pathology and 18 cases of tumor-like demyelinating lesions confirmed by pathology or clinic were recruited in this study. Imaging data including single-voxel (TE=144 ms) 1H-MRS was retrospective analyzed. The Cho/Cr and Cho/NAA area ratios were calculated. The lipid and lactate peak was visually categorized into 5 grades based on the ratio of Lip-Lac peak to the height of the Cr peak. 1H-MRS findings of the intracranial lymphoma and the tumor-like demyelinating lesions were compared. The differentiation of the two diseases diagnosed by 1H-MRS and conventional MR were evaluated by use of receiver operating characteristic curves. Results There were significant difference of Cho/Cr, Cho/NAA ratio and Lip-Lac peak level between the intracranial lymphoma and tumor-like demyelinating lesions (P<0.001). It was more likely to be intracranial lymphoma when Cho/Cr ratio was>2.56, Cho/NAA ratio was>1.71, and Lip-Lac peak grade was>3. Cho/Cr, Cho/NAA ratio and Lip-Lac peak grade were found higher in atypical intracranial lymphomas when compared with those of tumor-like demyelinating lesions. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of conventional MR was increased from 0.827 to 0.870 when Cho/NAA ratio was added for analysis in the 28 uncertain cases. Conclusion 1H-MRS has great clinical significance for differentiating intracranial lymphoma from tumor-like demyelinating lesions. The values of Cho/Cr ratio>2.56, Cho/NAA ratio>1.71 and Lip-Lac grade >3 suggest intracranial lymphoma rather than TDLs. When the conventional MR imaging features can not do the differentiation, Cho/NAA ratio is a useful complement.

Objective To observe the effect of somatostatin combined with transcatheter arterial infusion chemotherapy in the treatment of malignant intestinal obstruction. Methods 60 patients with malignant intestinal obstruction were enrolled in our hospital from January 2013 to June 2015.The rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: the conventional group(n=15),the growth inhibition group(n=15),the low dose intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy group(n=15)and somatostatin plus low-dose intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy group(n=15).The clinical symptom remission time, duration of clinical symptom remission and survival time were compared between the four groups. Results The study showed that somatostatin group of gastrointestinal decompression and symptom remission time were significantly better than the conventional group.Especially the symptom remission time is significantly faster than the conventional group and chemotherapy group(P< 0.05); the duration of chemotherapy group and somatostatin+artery perfusion chemotherapy group in survival time and relieve symptoms, were significantly better than the conventional group and somatostatin group(P< 0.05).Conclusion Somatostatin is beneficial to reduce the amount of gastrointestinal decompression in the treatment of malignant intestinal obstruction.Celiac artery infusion chemotherapy can help to improve the maintenance time and prolong the survival time of patients with malignant obstruction. The combination of somatostatin and celiac artery infusion chemotherapy is beneficial to relieve the symptoms and prolong the time interval, and improve the survival time of patients.
3.Research progress of the association between Hp polymorphism and diabetic vascular complications
Chinese Journal of Diabetes 2017;25(11):1046-1050
Haptoglobin (Hp),also known as hemopexin,is an acute phase protein expressed predominantly in the liver.Hp binds to free Hemoglobin (Hb),and this Ht-Hb complex is degraded via CD163 (macrophage scavenger receptor)-mediated endocytosis, which subsequently blocks Hb-induced oxidative damage. There are three major human Hp genotypes:HP1-1,HP2-1,and HP2-2.Studies have shown that different HP genotype has distinct impact on diabetic vascular complications. In this review,we focus on the association between HP polymorphisms and diabetic vascular complications.

BACKGROUND: Zinc, an inorganic antibacterial material, has a suitable degradation rate and good antibacterial property. Adding alloying elements can improve the mechanical properties and biocompatibility of the material, which is the development direction of novel medical biodegradable metal materials. There is still lack a comparable research on the antibacterial properties among zinc-based materials. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the antibacterial properties of pure zine and zinc-based alloys in vivo. METHODS: Eighty Sprague-Dawley rats, SPF grade, were randomized into two groups (n=40/group) , and all rats were injected with Staphylococcus aureus or Escherichia coli solution to prepare infection models. Different materials (Zn, ZnAl, ZnSr, Zn3 Mg, Zn3 Ag, Zn3 Ca and Zn4 Cu; five rats for each material) were implanted into the medullary cavity of femur. The control group without any material was set. At 1, 4, 7 and 14 days after implantation, the changes of body temperature, white blood cell count, serum tumor necrosis factor α and serum zinc content in rats were detected. The secretions and tissues of the surgical site were collected to identify the bacterial species. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) The body temperature in all the rats was increased to different extents after bacterial infection, but the temperature of the rats implanted with zinc and zinc alloys was always lower than that in the control group at 7 and 14 days (P < 0.05) . The temperature in the Zn3 Ag group was significantly lower than that in the other groups at 7 and 14 days (P < 0.05) . (2) The white blood cell count and tumor necrosis factor α level in the zinc and zinc alloys groups were significantly lower than those in the control group at 7 and 14 days after implantation (P < 0.05) . The white blood cell count and tumor necrosis factor α level in the Zn3 Ag group were significantly lower than those in the other groups (P < 0.05) . (3) The serum zinc content in all groups has no significant difference (P> 0.05) . (4) The bacterial culture results showed S.aureus (+) in the Staphylococcus aureus infection group and E.coli (+) in the Escherichia coli infection group. (5) To conclude, degradable zinc-based alloys exert marked antibacterial effects, and Zn3 Ag alloys have the best antibacterial activity.
