Lymphoma of the prostate is exceedingly rare. Much more common than primary lymphoma of the prostate id secondary involvement of malignant lymphomas originating at other sites. A variety of treatments have bee n used, including prostatectomy, radiotherapy or combinations of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Generally, the prognosis is very poor, and there is currently no consensus regarding treatment. We report on a patient with T-cell lymphoma who presented with symptoms of bladder neck obstruction. The patient has been asymptomatic and under complete remission after completion of doxorubicin-based chemotherapy for 2 cycles.

It seems best to view ADHD as a developmental disability that comprises impairments in persistence of effort(sustained attention), the ability to delay responding and inhibit behavior(impusivity), and the regulation of excessive activity level or responding in situations(hyperactivity). These problems tend to arise early in childhood, often during the preschool years, and persist in over half the cases into adulthood as adult ADHD. ADHD in adolescents and adults responds to treatment with stimulants, tricyclic antidepressants, etc. Nonpharmacologic modalities such as behavior modification, individual and family therapy and cognitive therapy are useful adjuncts to psychopharmacologic management. Without effective treatment, ADHD often results in increased risk of trauma, substance abuse, conduct disorder, marital dishamony, family dysfunction, divorce, and incarceration in adolesence and adulthood. Lifelong treatment with proper medication and counselling are important to ADHD.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to evaluate recent trends in gastric cancer incidence according to the age, sex, and tumor location in the Korean population. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Using data from the Korea Central Cancer Registry between 1999 and 2014, gastric cancer incidence, annual percent changes, and male-to-female incidence rate ratios (IRRs) according to tumorlocationwere determined. The distribution of disease extent according to the tumor location and its changes between 2006 and 2014 were also analyzed. RESULTS: Incidence of gastric cancer was stable until 2011 and decreased between 2011 and 2014. The age-standardized incidence rate of gastric cancer was 43.6 (per 100,000) in 1999 and 35.8 in 2014. The proportion of cardia/fundus cancer remained stable (5.9% to 7.1%), and that of body cancer increased (35.3% to 43.2%). The male-to-female IRR decreased in most age groups, except for those in their 60s. In the distribution of disease extent, the proportion of localized disease increased, and regional and distant disease decreased in all tumor locations (53.9% to 66.0%, 31.4% to 22.5%, and 14.8% to 11.5%, respectively; p < 0.001). For histological type, the proportion of carcinoid tumor and non-epithelial tumor increased (0.3% to 1.0%, and 0.8% to 1.4%, respectively). CONCLUSION: In the 15 years from 1999 through 2014, age-standardized incidence of gastric cancer started to decrease from 2012, and the proportion of cardia/fundus cancer remained unchanged. The trend of increasing localized cancer was observed in all tumor locations.

PURPOSE: To assess the technical feasibility of laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) focusing on the development of postoperative complications including pancreatic fistula (POPF). METHODS: From March 2001 to April 2010, 57 patients underwent a distal pancreatectomy. The patients were divided into two groups, LDP group (L group, n=15) and open distal pancreatectomy group (O group, n=42). The clinicopathological characteristics, surgical variables and postoperative outcomes of these 2 groups were compared retrospectively. RESULTS: Patients with a malignancy constituted 7% of the L group and 31% of the O group (p=0.084). The tumor size was significantly larger in the O group (2.6 vs. 5.3 cm). The body mass index (BMI) was significantly higher in the L group (24.9 vs. 22.9 kg/m2). One case of a pancreas pseudocyst in the L group was converted to open surgery due to intraoperative bleeding. The L group showed significantly less intraoperative bleeding, earlier start of solid meals and shorter hospital stay. There was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications and POPF between the 2 groups. POPF of ISGPF grade B developed in 0 and 2 patients in the L group and O group, respectively. One intestinal obstruction and 1 fluid collection that required intervention was encountered in the O group. One patient with adenocarcinoma who underwent LDP was alive 25 months after surgery without recurrence. CONCLUSION: LDP provides the advantages of minimal access surgery with a comparable rate of POPF to ODP. LDP is considered suitable for benign and borderline-malignant pancreatic lesions.

The generally accepted taste pathway in an animal projects ipsilaterally from the solitary nucleus. However, the path-way of gustatory fibers in the human brainstem has not been sufficiently clarified. A 57-year-old hypertensive man was admitted with sudden dizziness and hemiageusia. A neurological examination revealed also a diminution of taste on the left half of his tongue. A MRI showed a high signal intensity in the right lower pontine area. This case suggests that the unilateral lesion of the pons may lead to contralateral taste disturbances.
