1.The spread and influence of YunQi theory of TCM in Japan
International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2009;31(2):111-112
With the frequent culture communication between china and Japan, YanQi theory of TCM spread to Japan and exerted an influence on Japanese medicine. From the volume of"YunQi" in "The literature investigation of TCM", we can tell YunQi theory occupied a major position in the Japanese medical literatures which spread from china. The primary books of YunQi edited by Japanese scholars reveal Japanese doctors are apt to use this theory to promote their clinical practice. The accordant cognition of Chinese and Japanese scholars is that Japanese doctors accept the value of YunQi theory and beware of it's deficiency in clinic.

Objective To investigate the changes in small-diameter sensory neuron (SNS)/ peripheral nerve type 3(PN3) Na+ channel transcript and in tetrodotoxin-resistant (TTX-R) Na+ current in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons in a chronic constriction injury (CCI) model of neuropathic pain. Methods Eighteen rats were divided into 6 groups of 3 animals each. Chronic constriction injury model was established after Dib-Hajj et al. Pain threshold was significantly lowered after CCI as compared with that in control group. The animals were deeply anesthetized and rapidly decapitated 14 days after surgery. The L4-5 DRG of the operated side was removed and crushed and total RNA was extracted with trizol reagent. The DRG of the contralateral side was used as control. The change in SNS/PN3 Na + channel expression was determined by semi-reverse transcriptase-PCR. The DRG neurons were isolated enzymatically and the change in voltage-gated TTX-R Na+ current was recorded using whole-cell patch clamp technique. Results Sensory neuron specific TTX-R Na+ channel transcript SNS/PN3 was down-regulated by 60% 14 days after CCI as compared with that in control group. TTX-R Na+ current density was significantly reduced but its activation and steady state inactivation were unchanged. Conclusions Na+ channel SNS/PN3 is involved in the hyperextability of the primary sensory neurons after CCI.

Objective To investigate the effects of 1% ropivacaine injected epineurally or intraneurally on the recovery of sciatic nerve from acute injury in rats. Methods Seventy-two healthy male Wistar rats weighing 220-250 g were xandomly assigned into 4 groups ( n = 18 each): group Ⅰ epineural injection of normal saline(NS)(group C1); group Ⅱ intraneural injection of NS (group C2); group Ⅲ epineural injection of 1% ropivacaine (group Epi-R) and group Ⅳ intraneural injection of 1% ropivacaine (group Intra-R). The animals were anesthetized with intraperitoneal 3% pentobarbital 60 mg/kg. The sciatic nerve was exposed and crushed with blood vessel clamp for 2 min. NS or 1% ropivacaine 0.2 ml was injected epineurally or intraneurally after release of the clamp.Sciatic nerve function was measured and sciatic nerve function index (SFI) was calculated at day 1, 3, 7, 14, 21and 28 after operation. Six animals in each group were anesthetized on the 14th and 28th day after operation and the nerve conduction velocity (NCV) of the sciatic nerve was measured. The sciatic nerve was then removed for histologic examination. Results There was no significant difference in SFI and NCV at all time points among group C1 , C2 and Epi-R. SFI was almost normal on the 28th day after operation in the 3 groups. The NCV was significantly slower at day 14 and 28 after operation in intra-R group than in the other 3 groups. Conclusion Intra-neural injection of ropivacaine can significantly delay the recovery of sciatic nerve from acute injury.
