[Objective]To discuss the midterm effects of bipolar artificial femoral head arthroplasty in treatment of elder femoral neck fracture.[Method]From September 1995 to Febuary 2005,73 elderly patients with femoral neck fracture were operated with domestic bipolar artificial femoral head arthroplasty (average 74 years old).Forty-seven cases had been followed up for average 65 months.Harris score system and X-ray had been used for evaluation.[Result]There was no vessel and nerve injury,no infection and dislocation,no perioperative death. The complications included one greater trochanteric fracture,3 cases with pneumonitis,2 urinary infection,1 cerebral infarction,1 dysfunction in central nerve system and 1 case with deep venous thrombosis.Of all the 36 X-rays there were 3 cases with prosthesis subsidence, lucent line lesser 2mm in 2 cases, narrow joint space in 21 cases, protrusion in 1 case.According to the Harris scoring system, there were excellent in 12,good in 26,fair in 7,poor in 2.[Conclusion]Bipolar artificial femoral head arthroplasty are reasonable choice for treatment of femoral neck fracture in the elderly.Proper indication and perioperative management is critical to get good results.
3.Comparison of Global Field Power Measurement and Conventional Method in Multi-channel Auditory Event Related Potential P300 Determination.
Journal of the Korean Society of Biological Psychiatry 2000;7(2):180-185
OBJECTIVE: The present study was designed to compare Global field Power Measurement and conventional method in P300 determination. METHOD: The subjects were composed of patients(N=20) with schizophrenia by DSM-IV and normal controls(N=20). The auditory event related potential P300 was measured by "oddball paradigm". P300 components were determined by Global Field Power Measurement and conventional method at 5 electrodes(Fz, Cz, Pz, T3, T4). RESULTS: P300 amplitudes of patients were smaller than those of controls across all electrodes and in both methods, but there was no differential power in P300 determination between two methods. Asymmetry of auditory event-related potential P300 was not shown between patients with schizophrenia and normal controls. CONCLUSION: It is implicated that it depends on clinical situations and research purposes what method of P300 determination will be more appropriate for patients with schizophernia.

[Objective]To observe the bone repairing efficacy of large segmental femur defects in rabbits with calcium phosphate cement(CPC)combined with bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)and massive bone allograft, which may benefit the clinical application of large segmental bone allograft transplantation.[Method]Fifty-four New Zealand white rabbits were divided into three groups and a 2 cm femur defect was created on one side of each rabbit, followed by implantation with:CPC combined with BMP and massive bone allograft(Group A),bone allograft only(Group B)and autograft transplantation(Group C).Intramedullary nails with a 3 mm diameter fixed all the grafts transplanted. The bone defect repair efficacy was evaluated by radiology and histology exam at 4,8 and 12 weeks after operation.[Result]The bone reparation capacities of allograft with CPC/BMP complex was better than that of the allograft alone after 4 ~8 weeks of transplantation, which were similar to the result of autograft transplantation.Complete bone union was achieved for all the groups after 12 weeks of operation, with better bone remodeling for group A and group C transplantation. The healing process of CPC/BMP combined with allograft transplantation was featured with large amount of bone callus forming surrounding the graft-host bone union area and the surface of allograft, which composd the extra cortical bone bridge and ingrowth(EBBI).Bone invasion, resorption as well as new bone genesis were seen in the surface of bone allograft at early stage, companied by expansion of Haversians canal, with more lanner cells, osteoblasts, osteoclasts and blood cells inside the allograft.CPC was slowly biodegraded with the bone graft resorption and new bone regeneration.[Conclusion]CPC combined with BMP can improve the bone reparation and substitution process in massive bone allograft transplantation for the treatment of large segmental bone defects.

Alteration in the hormone level associated with menstrual cycle influences the interaction between the urethra and bladder as well as detrusor function, maybe due to the common embryological origin of lower female genital and urinary tract. We tried to investigate the effect of the menstrual cycle on cystometric diagnosis through this retrospective study. 60 women with regular menstruation were enrolled in this study. The study groups were divided into 2 groups, Group I was women whose symptoms were not influenced by the menstrual cycle, Group II was women whose symptoms were adversely affected premenstrually. The majority of normal cystometric diagnosis were made in the luteal phase (Group I: 42.9% vs 4.4%, p<0.05; Group II: 50.0% vs 22.2%, p<0.05). But diagnosis of genuine stress incontinence, detrusor instability, mixed genuine stress incontinence and detrusor instability were frequently made in the follicular phase of mentruation. Normal cystometric diagnosis in the group II were more commom than the group II ( 36.8% vs 19.7%, p<0.05 ). The results of this study reveal that the timing of cystometric evaluation may influence the the detection of a positive diagnosis. In patients whose symptom are influenced by their menstrual cycle, the luteal phase may not be the correct time to make an accurate diagnosis.

188Re (beta=22 MeV; gamma=155 keV; T1/2=16.9 hours) is an attractive therapeutic radioisotope which is produced from decay of reactor-produced tungsten-188 parent (T1/2=69 days). 188W has been produced from the double neutron capture reaction of 186W. 188Re can be easily obtained by elution of saline on alumina based 186W/188Re generator, which is commercially available. Complexes labelled with 188Re have been developed for the radiotherapy treatment of diseases because of the desirable nuclear properties of the radioisotope and it's chemical properties similar to those of technetium, a well established diagnostic agent.

Kosin Medical Journal 2021;36(2):161-168
Transarterial chemoembolization is often the first-line treatment for multiple hepatocellular carcinomas. However, hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy is a treatment option for hepatocellular carcinoma refractory to multiple sessions of transarterial chemoembolization. Hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy requires implantation of an appropriate port into the hepatic artery. However, it may be impossible to implant a port due to hepatic artery variation. We report a case of hepatocellular carcinoma refractory to transarterial chemoembolization and hepatic artery variation treated successfully with hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy and radiofrequency ablation with complete response after implantation of ports in both liver lobes.

Korean Circulation Journal 1981;11(1):103-111
Parameters of the left ventricular performance were evaluated by echocardiographic examination in 66 normal subjects. Effects of pulse rate, systemic arterial pressure, peripheral resistance and left ventricular end-diastolic dimension on the parameters were also observed. Normal value(mean+/-SD) of fractional shortening was 34.0+/-5.2%, ejection fraction 0.71+/-0.07, mean rate of circumferential fiber shortening 1.15+/-0.19 circ/sec, mean posterior wall velocity 4.05+/-0.70cm/sec, maximal posterior wall velocity 6.31+/-1.26cm/sec, mean normalized posterior wall velocity 0.82+/-0.14/sec, and maximal normalized posterior wall velocity 1.28+/-0.24/sec. There were negative correlations of peripheral resistance to fractional shortening, ejection fraction and mean rate of circumferential fiber shortening. Pulse rate and left ventricular end-diastolic dimension did not have significant effects on these parameters. Mean and maximal posterior wall velocity had negative correlations to peripheral resistance and positive correlations to left ventricular end-diastolic dimension. But mean and maximal normalized posterior wall velocity had no correlations to any of them.
