Objective To investigate the CT imaging features of pancreatic fatty replacement and its clinical significance. Methods Three patients with pancreatic fatty replacement detected by CT were retrospectively analyzed. CT examination included plain scan and contrast-enhanced scanning at the arterial and portal venous phases. The shape, size, density, pancreatic lobulation and interlobular spaces, course of the pancreatic duct were carefully observed. The clinic and laboratory data were also analyzed to determine the clinical significance of pancreatic fatty replacement. Results ①Imaging features: Two patients had complete fatty replacement involving the entire pancreas, another one had most fatty replacement sparing the posterior aspect of head and tail. Two patients had regular configuration of pancreas. The size of pancreas was slightly enlarged in 2 patients. Lobular atrophy and widening of interlobular spaces were present in all 3 patients. The pancreatic duct was normal in 3 patients. ②Clinic findings: Chronic diarrhea was present in 3 patients. Two patiens had diabetes (one had chronic cholangitis with choledochal lithiasis), another one had small stone in the common bile duct. Serum lipase was low in 3 patients, of which one had low serum amylase. Conclusion Pancreatic fatty replacement demonstrates certain characteristic CT appearances, and is usually associated with disturbances of both the endocrine and exocrine functions of the pancreas.

Methods including stimulation, cauterization, of nuclei and measurement of pain threshold were used to clarify the role of paraventricular nucleus of hypothalamus (PVH) in pain regulation. Results showed that electrical or L-glutamate sodium stimulation of PVH could elevate the pain threshold in the rat dose-dependently, electrical cauterization of PVH could reduce the pain threshold; and removal of the pituitary gland could not influence the effect of L-glutamate sodium on pain threshold. These results suggest that PVH may play an important role in pain regulation.

Objective:To investigate the relationship of hypertension with osteoporosis(OP)and bone mineral density(BMD) in elderly type 2 diabetic women. Methods: A total of 179 elderly type 2 diabetic women were categorized into hypertension group(n=124)and non-hypertension group(n=55).Lumbar and hip BMD were measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry.Prevalences of osteoporosis were compared between the two groups using Chi-square test, and BMD was compared using covariance analysis. The correlation between the osteoporosis and risk factors was analyzed using binary logistic regression method. Results: The prevalences of osteoporosis(total OP,lumber OP and hip OP) in non-hypertension group were higher than that of the hypertension group(Pt=0.037,Pl=0.042 and Ph=0.051,respectively).Lumbar and hip BMD in the hypertension group was higher than that in the non-hypertension group, and there were significant differences in L3 and L4 BMDs between the two groups(P3=0.040,P4=0.021);however,the difference disappeared after adjustment for body mass index(BMD).After adjustment for C peptide, the P value also increased, but not as obvious as after adjustment for BMI.Binary logistic regression analysis showed that OP was associated with age,BMI and osteocalcin, but not with hypertension. Conclusion: OP is associated with the age,BMI,and osteocalcin, but not with hypertension in elderly type 2 diabetic women.

Objective To discuss the relation between level of Hs-CRP and glycometabolic disturbance in patients with acute coronary syndrom. Methods 155 patients with acute coronary syndrome were divided into 3 groups according to the WHO standard of diabetes diagnosis, normal glucose tolerance group(group A,44 cases),impaired glucose tolerance group(group B,60 cases),diabetes group(group C,51 cases). All cases were checked by the 75g glucose tolerance test, blood Glucose, insulin, HbA1c,lipid,hypersensitive C reaction protein(hs-CRP). 95 patients were checked by coronary angiography(CAG). Statistic comparison were measured among three groups including the levels of hs-CRP,insulin,HbA1c,lipid and coronary artery lesions. Results The levels of Hs-CRP,PBG, FINS, PINS,HbA1c,TC,LDL-C in both group B and C were higher than those in group A;The levels of TG,PINS were not found significant differences between group B and C. The level of Hs-CRP was correlated with the levels of PBG,PINS,HbA1c,TC,LDL-C. The coronary artery lesions showed by CAG in group B and C were more severe than those in group A,coronary multivessel changes in group B and C were more frequent than in group A,it had no significant difference between group B and C.Conclusion Compared with the patients of normal glucose tolerance, patients with glycometabolic disturbance have higher levels of hs-CRP,their coronary artery lesions are more severe.
