Objective To investigate the effects of captopril on cardiac function and levels of energy-rich phosphates in pressure overload induced left ventricular hypertrophy rats. Methods One hundred and twenty SD rats were randomly divided into three groups: sham operation group (SH group, n=40),coarctation of abdominal aorta group (CAA group, n=40) and captopril treatment 1 mg· 1001·d-1) group (CAP group, n=40). Left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP), left ventricular mass index (LVMI), levels of energy-rich phosphates and morphological changes of the myocardial mitochondria were compared at the 6th and 8th week after operation. Results At 6th week, in CAA group, LVMI and LVEDP were increased and ±dp/dtmax was decreased, while ATP and ADP were decreased and AMP was increased (P<0.01). These changes were much obvious at 8th week (P<0.01). Compared with those of CAA group, the parameters of heart function and energy-rich phosphates (ATP, ADP, AMP, TAN) in CAP group were improved significantly(P<0.01) at the 6th and 8th week. In CAP group, the parameters of heart function and energy-rich phosphates (ADP, AMP, TAN) were much better at 8th week than those at 6th week. The morphological change of mitochondria was less in CAP group than that in CAA group. Conclusion Captopril significantly improves myocardial energy metabolism in pressure overload rats and protects the function of myocardial mitochondria.

Objective To evaluate the lung protective effect of sustained inflation(SI)and its mechanism for exogenous acute lung injury(ALI) animal models. Methods Exogenous acute lung injury animal models were replicated using intravenous injection of oleic acid. Immunohistochemis?try and double antibody sandwich ELISA were carried out to detect IL?10 and IL?6 protein levels in lung tissues and serum. Western blot was used to detect the expression level of SP?A in lung tissue and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF). The expression of ICAM?1 and SP?A mRNA in lung tis?sue was measured by reverse transcription PCR. The apoptosis of lung tissue cells was detected by flow cytometry. Results The maintenance of 20 s lung recruitment method of 35 cmH2O pressure could improve PaO2 and PaO2/FiO2,reduce PaCO2,and improve oxygenation and pulmonary com?pliance. The re?expansion effect of sustained inflation for exogenous acute lung injury was good. The IL?10 and IL?6 levels in lung tissue and serum for SI group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05). The SP?A expression level of lung tissue and BALF in SI group was significantly reduced compared with the control group(P<0.05). Flow cytometry analysis showed that the apoptosis rate of SI group was significant?ly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Sustained inflation played an important role in lung protection against exogenous ALI through inhibition of apoptosis, lightening of inflammatory response, reduction of pulmonary edema and SP?A degradation in lung tissue,as well as promotion of SP?A synthesis and secretion in pulmonary alveolus.

BACKGROUND:Acel ular tracheal matrix is similar to the native trachea with structure and biological performance preserved after decel ularization, and it is an important aim in tissue engineering to find an effective method of decel ularization.
OBJECTIVE:To select the optimal decel ularization method through comparing chemical extraction method with detergent-enzymatic method for preparing rabbit tissue engineering trachea matrix.
METHODS:Thirty tracheas from New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divide into three groups. Twenty of rabbit tracheas were subjected to decel ularization using 2%TritonX-100 combined with deoxyribonuclease I and ribonuclease (chemical extraction method group), and sodium deoxycholate combined with deoxyribonuclease I (detergent-enzymatic group), respectively. The other ten were given no intervention as controls. Samples were col ected and observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining, Masson-trichrome staining, safranin O staining, DAPI staining and scanning electronic microscope.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Hematoxylin-eosin staining demonstrated that compared with the control group, almost al cel ular components of the mucosal epithelium were removed in the detergent-enzymatic and chemical extraction groups, and there were few remnant chondrocytes. Masson-trichrome staining indicated that compared with the control group, components of the mucosal layer chondrocytes in the chemical extraction and detergent-enzymatic groups were completely removed, with only part of remained chondrocytes in the cartilage zone. Glycosaminoglycan was slightly decreased both in the chemical extraction and detergent-enzymatic groups shown by Safranin O staining, but more reduction was found in the chemical extraction group. DAPI staining reveled that only a smal amount of cartilage cel s remained in the dense layer of cartilage and lacuna both in this two methods. Scanning electronic microscope showed that using the detergent-enzymatic method there were the hierarchical structures of native trachea, but slight disruption using the chemical extraction method. In conclusion, decel ularized rabbit trachea matrix obtained by detergent-enzymatic method is better, with little disruption to the matrix.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2014;28(13):948-952
OBJECTIVE:
To observe waveform differences among ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (ACS-oVEMP) elicited by different types of air conducted sound in normal young Chinese subjects.
METHOD:
Twenty-two adult volunteers (44 ears) were recruited as research subjects including 12 males and 10 females aged between 18 and 35. Five hundred Hz tone burst, 125 Hz tone burst and click were employed as stimulus for conventional ACS-oVEMP examinations in bilateral ears of each subject. The response rate, threshold, n I latency, p I latency, n I-p I latency interval, amplitude and inter-aural asymmetry were recorded and compared among groups.
RESULT:
The response rate was 100% (44/44) in 500 Hz tone burst group, 40.9% (18/44) in 125 Hz tone burst group and 29.6% (12/44) in click group There were statistical significant differences between the 500 Hz tone burst group and the other groups (P < 0.05). Waveform amplitude was the largest in the 500 Hz tone burst group (7.3 +/- 5.5) muV than that in the 125 Hz tone burst group (3.8 +/- 1.5) muV and that in the click group (5.8 +/- 1.3) muV, which had statistically significant differences between the former and the later two groups (P < 0.05). Other waveform parameters presented similar differeces.
CONCLUSION
ACS-oVEMP waveforms could be largely affected by different stimulus. 500 Hz tone burst was the best stimulus with highest response rate, biggest amplitude and therefore most easily recognizable waveform in ACS-oVEMP examination.
