Objective To investigate the value of endoscopy in the diagnosis and treatment of biliary obstructions on different sites with variable causes. Methods The clinical records of biliary drainages under duodenoscope in 104 patients with biliary obstruction from October 1998 to November 2002 was reviewed retrospectively. Results Drainage was successfully completed in 97 patients, with a success rate of 93.3%(97/104). The patients were relieved of their symptoms of biliary obstruction (abdominal pain, jaundice and fever), and the effective rates of ENBD and ERBD were 93.0% (66/71) and 93.3% (28/30), respectively. Conclusions Endoscopic drainage for biliary obstruction has advantages of minimal invasion, rapid recovery, short hospital stay and apparent efficacy. Emphasis should be placed on the site of drainage and proper selection of operative method to further elevate its success rate.

Objective To discussion the effect of endoscopic single nostril transsphenoidal pituitary tumor resection on improving clini-cal symptoms and related quality of life of patients. Methods Selected 114 cases of patients with pituitary tumors in our hospital from August 2013 to August 2015, and randomly divided them into the nasal endoscopic group and the microscopic group according to the random number table, with 57 patients in each group. Patients of the 2 groups were treated with nasal endoscopic and microscopic single nostril transsphenoi-dal pituitary tumor resection respectively. The operation situation, hormone decline, incidence of complications after surgery and SNOT-20 and VAS score of the two groups were compared. Results Operative time of nasal endoscopic group was significantly higher than that in the mi-croscopic group, whlie the blood loss, length of hospital stay in endoscopic group was significantly lower than the microscopic group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0. 05). The total resection rate of pituitary tumor of the two groups were of no statistically signifi-cance (P>0. 05). One week after operation, cerebrospinal fluid cell count, cerebrospinal fluid protein, adrenocorticotropic hormone, serum chloride, sodium, growth hormone, and prolactin levels of the nasal endoscopic group were lower than the microscopic group (P<0. 05). The complication rate was 14. 9% in the nasal endoscopic group, which was obviously lower than 59. 6% in the microscopic group (P<0. 05). One week after operation, the SNOT-20 scores and VAS scores were increased in both of the two groups, but the microscopic group increased more significantly (P<0. 05). Conclusion Endoscopic single nostril transsphenoidal pituitary tumor resection surgery cost longer operation time, but it lead to less trauma and less postoperative complications, which may delay the decline of patients’ quality of life and promote the improvement of prognosis.

Objective To study the differentiation and proliferation ability of the spinal neural stem cells (NSCs) at different gestational ages in fetal rats. Methods Sprague-Dawley fetal rats were divided into group A (12 days of pregnancy), group B (14 days of pregnancy) and group C (16 days of pregnancy). NSCs were separated with enzyme-assisted microdissection. The diameter and numbers of NSCs balls were measured at different time. The cell growth curve was drawn with CCK8 colorimeter. NSCs were identified with BrdU/Nestin immunohistochemical staining. They were induced with 10% fetal bovine serum for 10 days, and the expression of β-tubulinⅢ and glial fibrillary acidic protein was detected with immunocytochemistry. Results There were cells expressed BrdU, Nestin, β-tubulinⅢ and GFAP in all the group. The most cells (22.74±0.79%) expressed β-tubulinⅢ in the group B, but no significant difference between group B and group C. The cell vitality on the 5th day of third-generation neural stem cells was the most in group B. Conclusion For enzyme-assisted microdissection, it may obtain more neurons to isolate the neural stem cells from 14 days of pregnancy pregnant rats.

Objective To explore the learning and memory impairment and pathology in hippocampus in rats after spinal cord contu-sion. Methods 36 adult female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham group (n=18) and spinal cord injury group (n=18). Spinal cord injury model at T10 was established with modified Allen's technique (10 g × 25 mm). The hindlimbs behavior of rats was rated with Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan (BBB) scores once a week for 5 weeks. They were tested with motor evoked potentials (MEP) and Morris wa-ter maze 5 weeks after injury. The pathology of hippocampus was detected with HE staining 1 week, 3 weeks and 5 weeks after injury, 4 rats in a group, repectively. Results The BBB scores were significantly lower in the spinal cord injury group than in the sham group at each time point (P<0.05). The latencies of both N1 and P1 wave of MEP were significantly longer in the spinal cord injury group than in the sham group (P<0.001), while the amplitudes were significantly less (P<0.001). For the Morris water maze, the latency of arrival platform were sig-nificantly longer in the spinal cord injury group than in the sham group (P<0.001), and the time in target was significantly less (P<0.001), with more systematic positioning or annular positioning, while the sham group with more space-based positioning. Morphologically abnor-mal cells in hippocampus gradually increased since the first week after injury, with the decrease of cells survival, while it was normal in the sham group. Conclusion Spinal cord contusion can cause learning and memory impairment in rats, which may be related to injury in hippo-campus.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2007;21(4):169-171
OBJECTIVE:
To select the optimal method for developing experimental animal model of viral facial paralysis by comparing several inoculation methods.
METHOD:
One hundred and twenty Balb/c mice were divided into 4 groups, with each group having 30 mice. Group A, the posterior auricular branch of right facial nerve were incised and inoculated with 25 microl HSV-1; group B, 25 microl HSV-1 were inoculated into the posterior aspect of the right auricle by cutaneous scarification; group C, 25 microl HSV-1 were injected into subcutaneous tissue of the posterior aspect of the right auricle; group D, 100 microl HSV-1 were inoculated in the way similar to that of group C. The symmetry of mouse face was observed, and the incidence of paralysis and death were analyzed. The temporal bones of paralyzed mice were serially sectioned and stained with hematoxylin and eosin.
RESULT:
Thirteen (43.33%) mice developed the right facial paralysis and recovered from it 3-7 days later in group A. Six (20%) mice developed the paralysis and recovered from it 2-9 days later in group B. Group C had no signs of facial paralysis and group D had 1 paralyzed animal. Except for 12 mice in group D, there was no death in the other groups. Nerve swelling was observed in right temporal facial nerve of paralyzed mice. Facial nerve to facial canal cross-sectional area ratio (FN/FC) of the right side was much higher than that of the left side.
CONCLUSION
Inoculating HSV-1 into the posterior auricular branch of facial nerve can produce an acute and transient facial paralysis in mice. With the advantage of higher morbidity of facial paralysis and lower mortality in comparison to the other methods, it is an optimal method.

International Journal of Surgery 2021;48(10):671-675
Objective:To investigate the "V" -shaped anatomical approach in the prevention of bile duct injury during laparoscopic complex cholecystectomy and its clinical application value. Methods:The patients with complex gallbladder from June 2020 to June 2021 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology were selected as the research objects, and they were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 60 cases in each group. All patients underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The observation group underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy through the triangle "V" shape of the gallbladder, and the control group did not use the "V" shape anatomy. The operation status, complications and postoperative recovery of the two groups of patients were compared. The measurement data of normal distribution were expressed by ( Mean± SD), and t test was used for comparison between groups, and chi-square test was used for comparison between groups of count data. Results:The conversion rate to laparotomy, intraoperative bleeding and operation time of observation group were 3.33%, (97.31±13.27) mL, (65.27±13.82) min, which were significantly lower than those in the control group[8.33%, (111.27±25.18) mL, (81.35±12.12) min], the differences between the two groups were statistically significant( P<0.05). The incidence of biliary injury, total incidence of complications of the observation group were 0, 8.33%, which were significantly lower than those in the control group(6.67%, 28.33%), the differences between the two groups were statistically significant( P<0.05). The postoperative exhaust time, drainage tube retention time, hospitalization cost and hospitalization time of the observation group were (9.89±3.58) h, (32.58±5.17) h, (3 142.92±137.93) yuan, (4.73±1.42) d, and significantly lower than those in the control group [(11.65±2.45) h, (46.18±6.49) h, (3 424.29±156.34) yuan, (5.38±1.25) d], the differences between the two groups were statistically significant ( P<0.05). Conclusions:For laparoscopic complex cholecystectomy, the use of the triangular "V" -shaped gallbladder anatomical approach is more conducive to the operation, can reduce the patient's operation time and intraoperative blood loss, reduce the rate of intraoperative conversion to laparotomy, and reduce biliary tract injury and bile leakage. Such as the incidence of complications, prompting patients to recover as soon as possible, it is worthy of clinical application and promotion.
