【Objective】 To analyze the causes of immune hemolytic transfusion reaction in one case, identify related antibodies, and explore transfusion compatibility testing. 【Methods】 ABO/Rh blood group identification, unexpected antibody identification of serum and diffusion fluid, direct antiglobulin test(DAT) and cross matching were conducted by saline method and/or microcolumn gel method. 【Results】 The patient′s blood group was O, and Rh phenotype was identified as DCCee. The DAT was negative, with strong anti-E antibody and weak anti-c antibody detected. Acute hemolytic transfusion reaction occurred in the patient after the last transfusion. 【Conclusion】 Currently, immune hemolytic transfusion reaction in China are mainly caused by Rh blood group system antibodies. The absence of unexpected antibody screening before blood transfusion and the weak anti-c antibody which resulted in missed detection of non compatibility in cross matching led to acute hemolytic transfusion reaction. It is recommended to conduct unexpected antibody screening before blood transfusion, and to collect blood sample for testing as soon as possible to improve the accuracy of DAT when acute hemolytic transfusion reaction is suspected.

Objective To investigate the effects of air pollution on non-accidental death of residents in Yancheng City. Methods Data of daily air pollutions (PM_2.5, PM₁₀, NO₂, SO₂ and O₃), average temperature, average relative humidity, and daily death information during 2014-2019 were collected. The time series semi parametric generalized additive model was used to analyze the impact of short-term exposure of air pollutants on non-accidental death in Yancheng City. Results The average daily non-accidental deaths of the entire population, respiratory system, and circulatory system were 154, 25, and 51, respectively. With the increase of 10 µg/m³ SO₂, the risk of the estimated non-accidental death and respiratory death was increased by 1.19% (95%CI: 0.26%-2.12%) and 2.37% (95%CI: 0.65%-4.12 %), respectively. With the increase of 10 µ g/m³ NO₂, the risk of the estimated non-accidental death, circulatory system death and respiratory death was increased by 1.50%（95%CI:0.94%-2.05%）, 1.11%（95%CI:0.08%-2.16%）, and 1.53%（95%CI:0.71%-2.36%）, respectively. With the increase of 10 µg/m³ O₃, the risk of the estimated non-accidental death, circulatory system death and respiratory death was increased by 0.64%（95%CI: 0.25%-1.04%）, 0.81%（95%CI: 0.04%-1.58%）, and 0.78%（95%CI: 0.18%-1.37%）, respectively. Conclusion The short-term exposure of air pollutants affects the non-accidental death of the residents in Yancheng, and there are lag effects, of which NO₂, SO₂ and O₃ have a greater impact.

Objective: To study the molecular epidemiology and genetic variation of coxsackievirus B5 (CV-B5) in certain areas in China. Methods: MEGA 6.0 software was used to analyze the complete VP1 region of CV-B5 isolated strains from certain areas of China by retrieving the GenBank nucleotide database. Besides, the phylogenetic tree was constructed, the homology of nucleotide and amino acids were calculated and the rate of evolution was estimated. Results: A total of 189 Chinese CV-B5 isolated strains were included in this study. Most of Chinese CV-B5 isolated strains belonged to genotype C, accounted for 90.5%. Compared with the genotype A, the homology of nucleotide sequences and amino acid sequences of complete VP1 region of 189 Chinese isolated strains were 79.8%-82.8% and 92.6%-97.9%, respectively; moreover, the nucleotide and the amino acid homology of 189 Chinese CV-B5 isolated strains among themselves ranged from 80.3% to 100.0% and ranged from 91.5% to 100.0%, respectively. The estimated rate of evolution of the CV-B5 was 4×10^-3 substitutions/site/year. Conclusions The majority of CV-B5 isolated strains belonged to genotype C, and subgenotype C1 and C2 were co-circulating together in certain areas of China.

The production efficiency of microbial cell factory is determined by the growth performance, product synthetic capacity, and stress resistance of the strain. Strengthening the stress resistance is the key point to improve the production efficiency of microbial cell factory. Tolerance engineering is based on the response mechanism of microbial cell factory to resist stress. Specifically, it consolidates the cell wall-cell membrane barrier to enhance the defense against stress, accelerates the stress response to improve the damage repair, and creates tolerance evolutionary tools to screen industrial microorganisms with enhanced robustness. We summarize the regulation strategies and forecast the prospects of tolerance engineering, which plays an important role in the microbial cell factories for sustainable production of natural products and bulk chemicals.

Objective To employ intraoperative discography to determine the injured intervertebral disc segments that can not be identified on the preoperative MRI in patients with cervical spinal cord injury without fracture and dislocation for confirming the responsible segments needing surgical decompression and fusion.Methods The study involved 85 patients with cervical spinal cord injury without fracture and dislocation treated from January 2007 to December 2011,among which sixteen patients had not been identified with the responsible segments by preoperative MRI.The average preoperative Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) score was (9.1 ± 1.8) points.There was no obvious fracture or dislocation of the cervical spine on preoperative X-ray film,CT and MRI,but all patients displayed high intense signal in cervical spinal cord on MRI T2 weighted imaging.Besides,MRI revealed hemorrhagic swelling of anterior cervical soft tissue in nine patients and cervical intervertebral disk hernia in all patients.Annulus fibrosus rupture of cervical intervertebral disc with contrast leakage in intraoperative discography of suspected injury segments in all patients under direction of C-arm X-ray machine was set as the injury criterion.The patients with pure ruptured discs received cervical discectomy,interbody fusion and titanium plate fixation.The patients associated with multilevel cervical intervertebral disc hernia or ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament underwent anterior cervical corpectomy,bone graft with titanium cageand titanium plate fixation of ruptured discs.Results Nineteen injured discs were identified eventually by discography,including 2 discs at C3/4,4 at C4/5,8 at C5/6 and 5 at C6/7.Moreover,anterior annulus fibrosus rupture with intact anterior longitudinal ligament was found in 11 patients.The follow-up lasted for (24.4 ± 10.0) months.JOA scores were (13.3 ± 1.5) points and (14.5 ± 1.6) points at two weeks and three months after operation,and (15.1 ± 1.5) points at the last follow-up,indicating a relevant improvement rate of 53％,68％ and 76％ respectively.Mean operation time was 110 minutes and blood loss was 120 ml.Three patients had pain on shoulder and back and one patient had hoarse voice,but all the patients were relieved in two weeks after conservative treatments.No serious complications,such as deep infection,deterioration of neurological dysfunction,vertebral artery injury or internal fixation failure were noticed intra-or post-operatively.Conclusion For the intradiscal rupture that is hard to be determined by the conventional imaging methods,intraoperative discography can be used as an auxiliary method of imaging diagnosis in early surgical determination of responsible segments for cervical spinal cord injury without fracture and dislocation.

OBJECTIVETo determine the role of 1,25(OH)2D3 on the secondary dentin formation and mineralization of the mice.

METHODSThe differences of the mandible mineralization between the wild-type and 1-alpha-hydroxylase gene knockout mice at 6 weeks old were assessed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, immunohistochemistry, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) histochemistry staining.

RESULTSThe ratio of caries were increased significantly, while the secondary dentin was reduced significantly, the deposition of type I collagen and osteocalcin on the secondary dentin of occlusion surface was decreased significantly, but the deposition of the Biglycan on the dentin was increased significantly, the active of ALP on the odontoblasts were reduced significantly in 1-alpha-hydroxylase gene knockout mice compared to that in the wild-type littermates.

CONCLUSION1,25(OH)2D3 deficiency lead to a defect in the secondary dentin formation and mineralization and caries of the mice.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficiency and safety of № I Empirical Prescription for Chronic Prostatitis (№ I EPCP) in the treatment of type Ⅲ refractory chronic prostatitis.

METHODSWe randomly assigned 53 cases of type Ⅲ refractory chronic prostatitis with damp-heat and blood stasis to an experimental and a control group to receive № I EPCP at 1 dose per day and saw palmetto extract at 160 mg bid), respectively, all for 8 weeks. Before and after 4 and 8 weeks of treatment, we obtained The National Institute of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index (NIH-CPSI) scores, Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Scores (TCMSS), maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), average urinary flow rate (Qavg), Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) scores and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA) scores, and compared them between the two groups of patients.

RESULTSTotally 48 of the patients completed the medication and follow-up, 25 in the experimental and 23 in the control group. Compared with the baseline, the NIH-CPSI scores after 8 weeks of treatment were significantly decreased in the experimental (27.82 ± 7.25 vs 15.46 ± 4.77, P <0.05) and the control group (25.98 ± 6.47 vs 21.06 ± 5.74, P <0.05), and so were the TCMSSs (24.64 ± 9.82 vs 16.42 ± 6.33 and 9.15 ± 3.74, P <0.05, and 23.67 ± 8.73 vs 18.55 ± 5.92 and 13.48 ± 4.45, P <0.05); the Qmax at 8 weeks were dramatically increased in the experimental group (［18.45 ± 7.81］ vs ［23.44 ± 8.73］ ml/s, P <0.05) and the control (［17.58 ± 6.92］ vs ［21.26 ± 8.32］ ml/s, P <0.05), and so was the Qavg (［11.27 ± 5.33］ vs ［16.51 ± 7.36］ ml/s, P <0.05 and ［10.66 ± 5.82］ vs ［13.44 ± 6.16］ ml/s, P <0.05); the HAMD scores were remarkably reduced in the experimental group (22.74 ± 6.37 vs 17.62 ± 5.71 and 12.54 ± 5.22, P <0.05) and the control (23.55 ± 7.14 vs 22.34 ± 6.88 and 21.62 ± 5.63, P <0.05), and so were the HAMA scores (21.37 ± 7.15 vs 18.42 ± 6.35 and 14.63 ± 7.11, P <0.05 and 20.54 ± 6.77 vs 19.87 ± 6.24 and 19.42 ± 7.04, P <0.05). No obvious adverse reactions were observed in either of the two groups during the medication.

CONCLUSIONS№ I EPCP deserves promotion and clinical application for its definite effectiveness and safety in the treatment of type Ⅲ refractory chronic prostatitis with damp-heat and blood stasis.

Objective To analyze the type and incidence of abnormal chromosome karyotype in peripheral blood of infertile patients with different semen quality.Methods Selectet 292 infertility patients who came to our hospital from January 2018 to December 2021 for G-banding karyotyping and semen analysis.According to the semen analysis results,the patients were divided into abnormal semen quality group and normal control group.We made statistics and analysis on the abnormal karyotypes.Results In the group with abnormal semen quality,20 cases(18.87%)of abnormal karyotypes were found.In the normal control group,9 cases(4.84%)had abnormal karyotypes were found.The comparison of the abnormal rates of peripheral blood chromosome karyotypes between the two groups showed statistical significance(P<0.05).The detection rate of chromosomal abnormalities in patients with Azoospermia was 50%,and sex chromosome abnormalities were the main types of abnormalities in this group.Conclusion Karyotype analysis of infertile patients can effectively analyze the causes of infertility,and has important clinical significance for assisted reproduction and primary prevention of birth defects.
