BACKGROUND: Current treatmemt strategy cannot efficiently relieve or reverse the disk degeneration, and neither surgical treatment nor nonsurgical treatment has gained satisfactory long-term effect. Therefore, more and more researches have focused on the cell therapy. OBJECTIVE: To explore the present states and application prospect of cell therapy, especially stem cells for degenerative intervertebral disc repair.METHODS: A computer-based search for related articles in PubMed database published between January 2011 and January 2016 using the English keywords of stem cell, intervertebral disk degeneration. Literatures addressing cell therapy for degenerative intervertebral disc repair were selected, and the articles published lately or original researches in authoritative journals were preferred.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: A total of 205 articles were selected firstly, and 50 eligible articles were enrolled finally in accordance with the inclusion criteria. The mixtures of stem cells and carrier are injected into the degenerative intervertebral disk, to repair or displace abnormal cells. This strategy has been accepted by many researchers, and considered as a promising treatment. However, there is little evidence about the safety of clinical treatment with cell therapy, which still needs to be explored in depth.

Objective To discuss the selection and clinical efficacy of operative methods for subaxial cervical dislocation without spinal cord injury. Methods A retrospective study was performed on 11 patients with subaxial cervical dislocation without spinal cord injury treated from January 2004 to June 2009. According to Allen' s classification, all patients suffered from retracted flexion injuries, including seven patients with Ⅰ degree dislocation, one with Ⅱ degree dislocation and three with Ⅲ degree dislocation. There were eighth patients with old dislocation and three with fresh dislocation, both of which were simple cervical trauma without other organ injuries. Open reduction, internal fixation and iliac bone graft spinal fusion were performed in seven patients and combined posterior and anterior open reduction, internal fixation and iliac bone graft spinal fusion in four. All the patients were followed up for observation of clinical effect. Results All operations were completed successfully. There were 11 patients at Frankel grade E preoperatively and 11 at grade E postoperatively. X-ray photographs showed that the sequence and curvature of the cervical spine recovered to normal after operation. All patients were followed up for 3-31 months postoperatively, which showed no redislocation or symptoms of spinal cord injury. Conclusion For lower cervical dislocation combined with locked facet, one-stage combined anterior and posterior reduction and internal fixation should be performed. While for those without locked facet, simple anterior reduction and bone graft spinal fusion is needed. Open reduction, internal fixation and bone graft spinal fusion are effective method for treatment of subaxial cervical dislocation without spinal cord injury.

Based upon previous theoretical research, the author puts forward the characteris-tics of excellent teaching team of clinical psychology in universities. According to the situation and the problem of the talents cultivation of clinical psychology in medical university, such as the teachers has lesser skill in clinical psychology, the vague cultivation goal, the faulty curriculum setting and the in-sufficiency practice teaching, the methods improving the teachers' ability and exploring the model and the means of the talents cultivation of the clinical psychology are important during constructing teach-ing team of the clinical psychology.

Plateau refractory wounds are affected by adverse conditions such as hypoxia, strong ultraviolet rays, and frigid, which can cause serious cell function damage, hinder re-epithelialization, and delay or even stop the healing of wounds. Conventional debridement and drainage, functional dressings and other traditional treatments have poor efficacy on this type of wound. Not only do patients have to endure long hospital stays, but they may also suffer from other complications due to long-term non-healing of wounds. In this paper, we report a patient with a plateau refractory wound that had not healed for 2 months. After two applications of platelet lysate gel treatment, the wound healed completely. This treatment method provides a new treatment approach for patients with plateau refractory wounds, which is worthy of clinical reference.

Objective To evaluate the short term outcome after mitral valve replacement with the Perimount bovine pericardial valve. Methods Eighty-eight patients underwent mitral valve replacement with the bovine pericardial valve in hospital were included in this study. Postoperative general condition including mortality and cerebral hemorrhage was observed. The hemodynamic and New York heart disease association (NYHA) heart function classification were recorded by Doppler echocardiograms before operation, postoperative 1 week, 3 months and 1 year after mitral valve replacement. Values of the different time points of NYHA, left atrial diameter (LA), left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVDD), left ventricular end systolic diameter (LVSD), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) were compared. The hemodynamic parameters were also compared including the peak cross valve pressure (PG), mean cross valve pressure (MG), peak cross valve velocity (PV) and effective orifice area (EOA) 1 week, 3 months and 1 year after surgery. Results There were two cases (2.3%) dead in one year (one died of cerebral hemorrhage and another one died of thromboembolism). There was 1 perivalvular leakage (1.2%). There was no endocarditis or structural valve deterioration. NYHA cardiac function was improved at postoperative 3 months and 1 year (P < 0.05). The values of LA, LVDD and PAP were significantly decreased at postoperative 1 week, 3 months and 1 year compared with those before operation (P<0.05). Values of LVSD and LVEF were significantly decreased at postoperative 1 week compared with those before operation (P<0.05). The value of LVEF was significantly increased at postoperative 3 months and 1 year (P<0.05). Compared with postoperative 1 week, the values of LA and LVEF were significantly increased at postoperative 3 months and 1 year (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in PG, MG, PV and EOA between postoperative 1 week, 3 months and 1 year. Conclusion With the excellent performance of cardiac function recovery, left ventricular restoration and hemodynamic, the Perimount bovine pericardial valve remains a reliable choice as a mitral tissue valve.

Objective To explore the repair possibilities of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs)in peripheral blood in patients with different extents of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) through measuring the levels of pro-angiogenic factors and different subgroups EPCs in peripheral blood in patients with OSA. Methods Ninety adult patients with OSA, 30 healthy controls with matched age and gender were enrolled for this study. The subjects performed Polysomnography, were divided in-to four group based on Apnea Hypopnea Index (AHI). The serum levels of HIF-1α, SDF-1αand VEGF were assessed by ELISA. Mononuclear cells were isolated from peripheral blood with density gradient centrifugation, and flow cytometry was used to detect levels of CD133+KDR+EPC, CD133+CD34+EPC, CD34+KDR+EPC and ALDHloCD34+KDR+EPC based on AL-DH activity, and CD133, CD34, PE-KDR related cell surface markers. Results The levels of CD133+KDR+EPC, CD133+CD34+EPC, CD34+KDR+EPC were higher in OSA groups than those of control group, both of which were higher in severe OSA group than those of in mild and moderate OSA groups. The levels of ALDHloCD34+KDR+EPC were higher in mild and moderate OSA groups than that of the control groups, and the levels of ALDHloCD34+KDR+EPC were significantly lower in se-vere OSA group than those of control, mild and moderate OSA groups. Serum levels of HIF-1α. VEGF were significantly high-er in OSA groups compared to those in control groups, both of which were higher in severe OSA group than those of mild and moderate OSA groups. Serum levels of SDF-1αwere significantly lower in severe OSA groups than those of mild, moderate OSA and control groups (P<0.05). Conclusion The mobilization and recruitment of different subtypes of EPCs are obvious-ly increased in patients with OSA, but ALDHloCD34+KDR+EPC with vascular repair capacity keeps to invariability, even de-creases in patients with severe OSA, which results in endothelial damage, and increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
