It is very necessary to apply case-teaching method to Emergency Medicine in Universities of TCM. To establish the case-teaching system,we ourselves have written teaching materials, trained teachers, and designed all sorts of the medical records. Moreover, we have deployed other methods and principles to put this teaching into practice, used clinical skill practising as a essential supplement of teaching effect. Comparing with the traditional teaching method, it is clear that case-teaching method could make students' learning initiative and positivity improved significantly, their test scores promoted obviously. Thus, carrying out case-teaching method in Emergency Medicine could advance students capability of acquisition of knowledge and their clinical thinking .

Host genes involved in lipid metabolism are differentially affected during the early stages of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Here we demonstrate that artificial up-regulation of fatty acid biosynthesis has a positive effect on the replication of the HCV full-length replicon when cells were treated with nystatin.Conversely, the HCV RNA replication was decreased when fatty acid biosynthesis was inhibited with 25-hydroxycholesterol and PDMP(D-threo-1-phenyl-2-decanoylamino-3- morpholino-1-propanol).In agreement with these results, the expression level of GlcT-1(ceramide glucosyltransferase),a host glucosyltransferase in the first step of GSL (glycosphingolipid) biosynthesis, was found to be closely associated with the expression and replication of HCV RNA.On the other hand, the viral RNA can also activate GlcT-1 in the early stage of viral RNA transfection in vitro. To identify viral factors that are responsible for GlcT-1 activation,we constructed ten stable Vero cell lines that express individual HCV proteins.Based on the analyses of these cell lines and transient transfection assay of the GlcT-1 promoter regions,we conclude that HCV proteins, especially NS5A and NS5B,have positive effects on the expression of GlcT-1.It is possible that NS5A and NS5B stimulate transcription factor(s) to activate the expression of GlcT-1 by increasing its transcription level.

OBJECTIVETo dynamically assess drug targeting of Yougui Pill (YP) and Zuogui Pill (ZP) using infrared thermography.
METHODSIn this self-control experiment, five healthy volunteers were recruited. By using infrared thermography 10 to 11 thermal images of different body locations were taken from each participant after they took warm water, YP, ZP, and their dissembled prescriptions at 30, 70, 100, 130, and 160 min, respectively. The heat values in the lower quadrant abdomen, uterus, Du channel, and Shenque (CV8) were statistically analyzed after scanning for 125 times.
RESULTSAdministration of YP and its disassembled prescriptions enhanced the heat value of the locations of the Du channel and Shenque (CV8), but did no enhance the heat value of the lower quadrant abdomen at 30 min. Administration of ZP and its disassembled prescriptions reduced the heat value in the locations of the lower quadrant abdomen, uterus, Du channel, and Shenque (CV8) at each time point.
CONCLUSIONThe drug targeting of ZP and YP focused on the locations of the Du channel and Shenque (CV8), not on the locations of the lower quadrant abdomen or uterus.

Objective:To investigate the expression and relationship of differentiated embryo-chondrocyte expressed gene1(DEC1) and the signal tranducers and activator of transcription3 (STAT3) in gastric cancer tissues, and the significance of the two genes in gastric carcinogenesis. Methods:Immunohistochemistry method of SP was adopted to discover the expression of DEC1 and STAT3 in 59 gastric cancer tissues,19 normal tissues distant from tumor were regarded as control. Results:The positive expression rate of DEC1 in gastric cancer tissues was 71.2%(42/59),which was significantly higher than that in normal para-cancer tissues(26.3%)(P0.05). STAT3 expression was associated with TNM staging, invasion depth, lymph node involvement and tumor grade (P0.05). Conclusions:DEC1 expression was higher in gastric cancer tissues than that in normal para-cancer tissues distant from tumor, and was correlated with STAT3 in gastric cancer. DEC1 and STAT3 are both transcription factors, therefore the co-activation of DEC1 and STAT3 may play an important role in the carcinogenesis and development of gastric cancer.

Objective: To determine the rate of lymph node metastases in women with endometrial carci-noma and to compare the pattern of lymphatic spread of endometrial carcinoma with that of cervical carcino-ma. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the lymphatic spread in 104 patients with endometrial carcinoma and 253 patients with cervical carcinoma. All of the patients underwent a complete pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy from caudal to the median circumflex to the level of renal vessels. Results: The incidence of lymphatic metastases in the endometrial carcinoma group was higher than that in the cervical carcinoma group (22.1% vs 16.2 %). The pathologic grade (G_1: 12.1%; G_2: 21.4%; G_3: 34.5%) and depth of myometrial in-vasion (≤1/2: 11.9%; >1/2: 29%) were correlated with lymph node metastasis. The rates of para-aortic node involvement, pelvic lymph node involvement and involvement of both were 4.3%, 34.8% and 60.9% in the en-dometrial carcinoma group and 0%, 68.3% and 31.7% in the cervical carcinoma group. The rates of obturator node involvement were 73.9% and 70.7%, respectively; the rates of suprainguinal node involvement were 8.7% and 7.3%, respectively. Compared with cervical carcinoma, endometrial carcinoma showed higher rate of para-aortic and sacral node involvement (65.2% vs 31.7%, and 21.7% vs 17.1%) and lower rate of extamal iliac node involvement (17.4% vs 41.5%). Conclusion: Compared with cervical carcinoma, endometrial carcino-ma has a distinct lymphatic spread pattern and can directly metastasize to both pelvic lymph nodes and pa-ra-aortic lymph nodes with pelvic lymph node metastases being dominant. Positive lymph nodes are common-ly seen in cases of all pathological grades.

AIM: To investigate the role of NFAT in cyclosporine A downregulating IFN-? gene transcription after liver transplantation. METHODS: Rat orthotopic liver transplantation model was employed and 3 groups of experiments were performed in this study. GroupⅠ: syngeneic control (Wistar-to-Wistar); GroupⅡ: acute rejection (SD-to-Wistar). GroupⅢ: acute rejection treated with cyclosporine A intramuscularly (SD-to-Wistar+CsA). EMSA and RT-PCR were used to analyze NFAT activity of splenocytes and IFN-? gene transcription intragraft of recipients with or without CsA treatment after liver transplantation. Histopathological assessment was also performed for reference. RESULTS: No noticeable rejection was detected in GroupⅠ while only low level of IFN-? mRNA transcription and faint NFAT activity were measured. In contrast, a marked rejection reaction was demonstrated from day3 postoperation in GroupⅡ. IFN-? mRNA transcription was significant and NFAT activity was intensive. In comparison to GroupⅡ, rejection grade in Group Ⅲ significantly decreased (P
