The electrical pain perception were determined in healthy Chinese adults and factors were assessed. The anxiety-depression state of one hundred healthy Chinese were evaluated and the general information was recorded. Then electrical pain perception (perception threshold, pain threshold, pain tolerance) were assessed by neuromuscular monitor at the same time. Further study of influence factors such as gender, age, body mass index (BMI), left and right sides, degree of anxiety and depression, etc. were carried out on the pain perception. The results showed that 95% of the reference range of electrical perception threshold, pain threshold, pain tolerance were 4-7mA, 7 26mA and 15-60mA, respectively. The bilateral pain perception in males were significantly higher than that in females. There was no difference of effect between left and right sides. Age was positive related to pain perception, degree of depression was negative related to pain perception. BMI, degree of anxiety did not show association with pain perception. Therefore, gender, age and degree of depression were significantly related to electrical pain perception in healthy Chinese adults.

Objective This study describes the protective effect of myocardial isehemic post- conditioning on ischemic-reperfused myocardium (I/ R) of diabetic rat and its Signaling mechanism. Methods Healthy SD rats weighing 25O-30Og were divided into 6 groups; (1) Blank control; (2) Ischemia-reperfusion; (3) Post conditioning; (4) Diabetic postconditioning ; (5) Diabetic ischemia-reperfusion; ( 6) Diabetic blank control group. Ten rats in each group were randomly selected. Introduction of diabetic rat model: 65 mg/kg STZ was injected into the intraperitoneal cavity, until 2 consecutive blood glucose measurements≥ 16.65 mmol/L were reached after48h. The diabetic model was successful when rats had following symptoms, such as more drinking, more eating, polyuria, weight loss and epilation. Langendorff isolated rat heart perfusion was used for the experiment. Following parameters were measured and compared: Coronary perfusion flow, myocardial infarct size, western blot for measurement of P-Akt, changes in myocardium and mitochondrian observed by Electron microscopy. Results Blood glucose concentration in diabetic group was (23. 15±2. 16) mmol/L and (4. 16±0. 31) mmol/L in non-diabetic group. There was a significant difference (P <0. 01) between the two groups. There were more coronary flow in post-conditioning groups (Post group and Dpost group) than ischemia-reperfusion groups (IR group and DIR group) (6.5±1.2、5.6±1.0 vs. 3.4±1.0、2.0±1.3). The myocardial infarction size was smaller in post-conditioning groups than in ischemia-reperfusion groups (25.2±2.1、34.2±3.6 vs. 47.5±3.5 、65.2±4.5). There was more expression of P-Akt and the myocardial fibers and mitochondrian in post-conditioning groups were better preserved. Conclusion Postconditioning has protective effects in diabetic rat hearts. The mechanism may be associated with Akt activation.

AIM: The purpose of this study was to determine whether the signal transduction systems were activated at the molecular atrial tissue level in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and whether atrial expression of extracellular-signal regulated kinase (ERK) and protein phosphatases is altered. METHODS: Atrial tissue sample of 30 patients undergoing cardiac surgery were examined. 20 patients had AF, 10 patients had no history of AF. The mRNA expression of calcineurin B and MKP-1 were detected by semi-quantitative RT-PCR. ERK1 and phospho-ERK1 were analyzed at the protein level by Western blot. RESULTS: Western blot analysis showed that atrial fibrillation did not induce significant change in ERK1 expression level in the left atrium. In contrast , phospho-ERK1 content was increased in the patients with AF in comparison with those who had sinus rhythm (SR). The mRNA expression of calcineurin B and MKP-1 in the patients with AF were significantly higher than that in patients with SR. CONCLUSION: The activation of extracellular-signal regulated kinase and protein phosphatases may have correlation with the initiation or maintenance of atrial fibrillation.

OBJECTIVE:To learn the application and tendency of hepatoprotective drugs in a third grade class A hospital dur-ing 2011-2014,and to provide reference for rational drug use. METHODS:DDDs analysis and consumption ordering method were adopted to analyze the change of DDDs,DDC and other index of hepatoprotective drugs in this hospital from 2011 to 2014. RE-SULTS:2011-2014,the amount and DDDs of Hepatoprotective injection in this hospital increased year by year, while oral dosage form decreased year by year. DDC order of each drug kept stable during 2011-2014;DDC and DDDs of drugs for promoting ener-gy metabolism were all in high level, and ornithine aspartate and ademetionine always took up the first 2 places in 4 years. Polyene phosphatidylcholine and Reduced glutathione injection were cheap, but had higher DDDs. Except Glutathione tablet,DUI of other hepatoprotective drugs had no great difference in 3 years, and fluctuated in 2014;hepatoprotective drugs with DUI>1 and DUI<1 occupied a large proportion. From 2010 to 2014,compared with previous year, the drugs with consumption sum/DDDs ratio num-ber close to 1 reduced significantly in the next year, decreasing year by year. CONCLUSIONS:In this hospital, injections are used too frequently, and overuse of drugs for promoting energy metabolism exist. Polyene phosphatidylcholine and Reduced glutathione injection can be used as a valuable drug in the clinic, and their cost are more acceptable, but not in excess.

Objective To provide scientific evidence for the effectiveness of upper limb training after stroke. Methods Surface electromyograms (sEMGs) of the triceps braehii and biceps brachii were recorded in stroke patients during maximum isometric voluntary contraction (MIVC).A total of 18 patients with hemiparesis were studied.During the elbow's MIVC,flexor and extensor peak torque were measured, and sEMGs of the biceps and tri- ceps brachii were recorded. Results During MIVC,the biceps braehius of the intact side registered a stronger EMG than that of the affected side when the elbow flexed, but the differenees in the triceps braehii readings were not significant. The triceps bracbius of the intact side gave a stronger iEMG than the affected side when the elbow extend- ed,but the iEMG form the biceps brachius of the affeeted side was higher than that of the intact side. The co-contrac- tion ratio (CCR) of the triceps brachius on the affected side was higher than that of the intact side.Though there was a tendency for the CCR of the biceps brachius on the affected side to be higher than the intact side, any difference was not statistically significant. For both flexor and extensor MIVC,the peak torque on the affected side was lower than that of the intact side. Conclusions Elbow spastieity in hemiplegic patients is mainly attributable to the flexor muscles. In the rehabilitation of the upper limb after stroke,it is important when training extensor strength to inhibit co-contraction of the antagonistic muscle.

Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the trieyelic antidepressant amitrip tyline in the treatment of patient with interstitial cystitis (IC). Methods Fifty-four patients diagnosed with IC were recruited in this prospective three-month clinical trial. The average course of patient's history was (40. 75±11.6)months, ranging from 19-72 months. All the 54 patients received oral administration of amitriptyline for 3 months. The initial dosage of amitriptyline was 25 mg per night. After 1 week, the dosage would be increased to 50 mg if the symptom didn't relief. After another 1 week, the dosage would be increased to 75 mg if the symptoms were still exist. The patients were kept on a minimum dosage which could relief patient's IC symptoms. Clinical symptoms, such as frequency per day, maximal voiding volume and odynuria degree score, O'Leary-Sant IC symptom and problem index and quality of life score were recorded and assessed at the beginning of the study and 3 months after the treatment. Results After 3 month treatment, the pre-treatment vs post-treatment parameters of frequency per day was 28.5±8. 4 vs 15.6±3.3, odynuria degree score was 6.4± 1.5 vs 2.2±1.5 and maximal voiding volume was 108.7±62.2 ml vs 171.0±53.9 ml respectively. There was significant improvement in all the above parameters comparing between the baseline and 3 months after the treatment. At the 3 months after treatment, the pre-treatment vs post-treatment O'Leary-Sant IC symptom and problem index and quality of life score was 26.9±4.0 vs 13.7±5.7 and 5.5±0. 5 vs 2.5±0. 6, receptively. There were significant decreases compared with the baseline. There was no serious adverse event after taking amitriptyline. Drowsiness occurred in 45 of the 54 patients at the first month administration. Of the 45 patients, 43 patients relieved and 2 patients quitted from the study. Mild weight increase was noted in 10 patients. Mild constipation was recorded in 11 patients. Mouth dryness was recorded in 9 patients. Three patients quitted because of suffering dysuria. Conclusions Oral administration of amitriptyline can effectively relieve clinical symptoms of IC and improve IC patients" quality of life. The side effects are well tolerated.
