Objective To investigate if the 23 strains of highly-resistant P.aeruginosa isolated from different patients in the in- tensive care unit (ICU) have the same origin;and explore the related mechanisms of carbapenem resistance in these multidrug- resistant P.aeruginosa.MethOds Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed using disk-diffusion technique.The strains were genotyped by rep-PCR with the primer ERIC2 followed by electrophoresis in agarose gel.We used a previously described imipenem-EDTA double-disk test for screening MBL-producing P.aeruginosa.Polymerase chain reaction for amplification of blaOprD, blaIMP, and bla VIM were performed to detect corresponding mutants.Results The result of antimicrobial suscepti- bility testing showed that 20 of the 23 P.aeruginosa isolates were muhidrug-resistant and highly resistant to imipenem and meropenem, and at least 5 antimicrobial agents tested in this study.The analysis of the rep-PCR products indicated that all the 19 carbapenem-resistant strains had an identical band pattern, which was different from that seen in the sensitive strains.Al- though imipenem-EDTA double-disk test identified 5 MBL-producing strains, PCR found that all the 23 strains were negative for bla VIM and blaIMP.Only one OprD-deficient mutant was identified.Conclusions The 19 highly-resistant strains of P. aeruginosa derive from a common origin.More researches are needed to clarify their mechanism of carbapenem resistance.

Objective To investigate the effect of probiotic supplement on the microbiology,bacterial translocation,and gut barrier function of the rats with abdominal infection. Methods After making the models of cecal ligation and perforation,the SD rats were divided into two groups.The rats in the control group were administrated with parenteral nutrition.The rats in the experimental group were administrated with parenteral nutrition and probiotics via the needle jejunostomy and neck vein for 5 d.The feces in the cecum were cultured by anaerobic bacterial growth.The vena cava blood and the homogenated tissues of the lives,hungs and mesenteric lymph nodes were cultured to determine bacterial translocation. Results The quantity of normal intestinal bacteria in the experimental group and the control group had significant difference except Enterobacteriaceae.The quantity of L.acidophilus and Bifidobacteria in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group.The quantity of C.perfrigens,the potential pathogenic germ in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group(P

[Objective] To study the inhibition effect of berberine on cell proliferation in acute T lymphocytic leukemia cell line Molt-4,and its mechanisms.[Methods] The logarithmic growing cell lines were incubated with 0,10,100 μg/ml berberine for various hours.The apoptosis induced by berberine was detected by flow cytometry,eletrophoresis and microscopy.The protein pro-Caspase-3 and p65 were determined by Western bolt assay.[Results]Treated with berberine,Molt-4 cells were found with apoptosis bodies by microscopy.By flow cytometry,it was found that number of G2/M cells was increased and number of S cells was reduced.Necrosis band was found in DNA ladder electrophoresis.The expression of pro Caspase-3 was activated partly and p65 was down-regulated in Molt-4 cells treated with berberine.[Conclusion]Berberine can induce Molt-4 cells apoptosis, and NF-κB、Caspase-3 have been shown to regulate the apoptosis programme.

Objective To evaluate the value of interventional embolism therapy for metastatic carcinoma of adrenal gland.Methods Fifty four patients with metastatic carcinoma of adrenal gland were treated with interventional catheterization perfusion and embolism therapy.Results Except one case with failure of finding the feeding artery, totally 76 sessions of interventional therapy were performed on 53 patients. Technical successful rate was 98.1% with 100% of complete release of clinical sign in 14 patients. Good deposition of iodized oil in tumor area reached 75.4% in three months after the procedure. Severe complication rate ocurred in 1.88%. Conclusion Interventional therapy seemed to be safe and effective for patients with metastatic carcinoma of adrenal gland.

Objective To investigate the usage of distortion product otoacoustic emissions(DPOAE) in normal infants hearing screening.Methods One hundred infants(200 ears) without clinical condition of illness were checked in GSI 70 DPOAE screening.The pure tones were 2,3,4 kHz,the OAE screener scored the test result as a pass,when the responses were above the PASS/REFER line and the signal-to-noise was at least 10 dB.Results Ninty-four infants(188 ears) passed hearing screening. Four infants(8 ears) with ceruminous impaction didn′t pass screening;after extracting impacted cerumen from the external auditory meatus,the 4 infants(8 ears) passed screening.Two infants(2 ears) with secretory otitis media didn′t pass screening,but after medicine treatment for 1 week,they passed screening too.Conclusion DPOAE has advantages in infants hearing screening.J Appl Clin Pediatr,2006,21(3):168-169

Objective To observe the changes of serum anti-ganglioside M1 antibodies levels in childhren with autism,explore its relation of with severities of childhood autism to provide clue and evidence for pathogenesis and treatment of children with autism.Methods Fifty children with autism,received training in our special training institution from June 2012 to August 2012,were chosen in our study; another 50 healthy children,collected in our hospital at the same period,were used as control group.The serum anti-ganglioside M1 antibodies levels were detected by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).The severities of autism were assessed by childhood autism rating scale (CARS).The serum anti-ganglioside M1 antibodies levels were compared between the two groups,between different severities of childhood autism and between geder,and then,corelation analysis was performed.Results According to the highest cut-off value of serum anti-ganglioside M1 antibodies,increased serum levels of anti-ganglioside M1 antibodies were found in 24％ (12/50) of all autistic children and 4％ (2/50) of normal children,with significant difference (P＜0.05); 7.7％ (2/26) of children with mild to moderate autism and 41.7％ (10/24) of children with severe autism had increased serum levels of anti-ganglioside M1 antibodies,with significant difference between the two groups (P＜0.05).The serum anti-ganglioside M1 antibody level of children with autism [12.79 (146.02) ng/mL] was obviously higher than that of the healthy controls [11.35 (53.80) ng/mL] with statistically significant difference (P＜0.05).The anti-ganglioside M1 antibody level of the female autistic children [191.74 (216.18) ng/mL] was obviously higher than that of the male autistic children [11.11 (9.51) ng/mL] with statistically significant difference (P＜0.05).Correlation analysis showed that the serum level of anti-GM1 antibodies of autistic children had significantly positive correlation with CARS scores (r=0.866,P＜0.005).Conclusion The serum anti-ganglioside M1 antibodies level may be a biochemical sign of autism and is associated with the severity of childhood autism.

Objective To study the feasibility of using heat and moisture exchangers (HME)as an alternative to heated humidifiers (HH) in patients undergoing mechanical ventilation. Methods 266 pa-tients with mechanical ventilation admitted to our ICU over the recent 3 years were allocated to the experi-mental group (humidification with a heat and moisture exchanger) and the control group (with heated hu-midifier), and the effect of humidification, the reserved time of artificial airway, the time on mechanical yen-tilation, the time of stay in ICU, the ineidenee of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) and the mor-tality rate were comparatively studied and analyzed. Results Significant differences were found between the experimental and the control group in effect of humidification, insufficiency of humidification or excessive hu-midification, airway spasm and time on mechanical ventilation and time of stay in ICU. The incidence of VAP in the control group was significantly higher than that in the experimental group. There were no significant dif-ference between the two groups in the reserved time of artificial airway and the mortality rate. There were no accident of humidification occurred in the experimental group while there were one case complicated with air-way burn and 11 eases complicated with choking with water in the control group. Conclusions We conclude that HH can be replaced by HME on mechanical ventilation while disease evolution and effect of humidification should be monitored closely and keep HME unobstructed.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Schisandra chinensis lignans (SCL) on neuronal apoptosis and PI3K/AKT signaling pathway of rats in the cerebral ischemia injury model, and study its possible mechanism.

METHODRats were orally administered SCL high, middle and low dose groups (100, 50, 25 mg x kg(-1)) for 14 days. The cerebral ischemia injury model was established by using the suture-occluded method to rate the neurological functions. The cerebral infarction area was observed by TTC staining. The pathological changes in brain tissues were determined by HE staining. Bcl-2 and Bax expressions were detected by immunohistochemical assay. The protein expressions of p-AKT and AKT were assayed by Western blotting.

RESULTCompared with the model group, SCL high, middle and low dose groups showed reduction in the cerebral infarction area to varying degrees, improve the pathological changes in brain tissues, promote the expression of apoptin Bcl-2 and p-AKT, and inhibit the expression of apoptin Bax.

CONCLUSIONSCL shows a protective effect on rats with cerebral ischemia injury. Its mechanism may be related to the increase in p-AKT ability and antiischemic brain injury capacity and the inhibition of nerve cells.
