1.Gene therapy and cutaneous wound healing
International Journal of Surgery 2009;36(4):281-284
Cutaneous wound healing is a complicated multiatep process with numerous mediators that act in a network of activation and inhibition processes. Nonhealing chronic wounds decrease the quality of Life. Recombinant growth factors, currently used in clinic, fail to provide a sustained repair function at the wound due to their inadequate biological availability and transient half-time. Recent attention has focused on gene therapy, which might become a significant treatment modality for those wound healing pathologies refractory to other wound management approaches. This review discusses the potentials and limitations of current genetherapy for the treatment of wounds, current ongoing clinical trials, and possible future directions in this exciting field.

APOBEC3 is a class of cytidine deaminase, which is considered as a new member of the innate immune system, and APOBEC3G belongs to this family. The research about APOBEC3G is a new direction of innate immune defense mechanism against virus. APOBEC3G has the restrictive activity on many viral replications, which deaminates dC to dU in the viral genome and then induces extensive hypermutation. APOBEC3G can also interrupt viral replication at several phases such as reverse transcription, replication, nucleocapsid and so on by non-deamination mechanisms. However, virus can encode viral proteins to counteract the restriction activity of APOBEC3G. Elucidation of the antagonistic interaction between APOBEC3G and the virus will be contributed to development of new antiviral drugs in the future.

Objective To evaluate the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma. Methods The clinical, pathologic and follow-up data of 39 cases with ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma were analyzed retrospectively. Results 39 patients with ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma had a median age of 45 years at diagnosis. The percentage of patients on stage Ⅰ was 59 % (23/39),and all patients had the symptoms of ovarian cystic neoplasm or solid mass. There were 24,12,3 cases in grade Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,respectively.Among 15 cases recieved appendectomy,2 cases were appendix infiltrated. The 3-year survival rate of the patients was 63 %.The result of single-factor analysis showed that the FIGO stage and residual disease after surgery were the correlative factors both in progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).The result of Cox proportional hazards regression model analysis indicated that residual disease after surgery was the independent prognostic factor of ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma. Conclusion Ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma has a better prognosis than other pathological types of ovarian epithelial carcinoma.Appendectomy should be suggested during the surgical treatment of ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma. The FIGO stage and residual disease after surgery are the important prognostic factors of ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma.

OBJECTIVE:To learn the application and tendency of hepatoprotective drugs in a third grade class A hospital dur-ing 2011-2014,and to provide reference for rational drug use. METHODS:DDDs analysis and consumption ordering method were adopted to analyze the change of DDDs,DDC and other index of hepatoprotective drugs in this hospital from 2011 to 2014. RE-SULTS:2011-2014,the amount and DDDs of Hepatoprotective injection in this hospital increased year by year, while oral dosage form decreased year by year. DDC order of each drug kept stable during 2011-2014;DDC and DDDs of drugs for promoting ener-gy metabolism were all in high level, and ornithine aspartate and ademetionine always took up the first 2 places in 4 years. Polyene phosphatidylcholine and Reduced glutathione injection were cheap, but had higher DDDs. Except Glutathione tablet,DUI of other hepatoprotective drugs had no great difference in 3 years, and fluctuated in 2014;hepatoprotective drugs with DUI>1 and DUI<1 occupied a large proportion. From 2010 to 2014,compared with previous year, the drugs with consumption sum/DDDs ratio num-ber close to 1 reduced significantly in the next year, decreasing year by year. CONCLUSIONS:In this hospital, injections are used too frequently, and overuse of drugs for promoting energy metabolism exist. Polyene phosphatidylcholine and Reduced glutathione injection can be used as a valuable drug in the clinic, and their cost are more acceptable, but not in excess.
