Objective: To observe the expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) in the retina of rabbits with acute high intraocular pressure and to investigate the mechanism of systemic domestic recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) protecting the retina from ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods: First, control group and model group were established in rabbit eyes. The acute high intraocular pressure model was established by saline perfusion into anterior chamber, and then hypodermic injection of domestic rhEPO was made. HIF-1α protein in the retina was observed by immunohistochemical staining method on days 1, 3, 7 and 14 after retinal ischemia-reperfusion, respectively. Results: No cells with HIF-1α positive expression were observed in the retina of the control group. Cells with HIF-1α positive expression in the model group outnumbered those in the control group (P < 0.01). The resemblance pattern occurred in EPO group but its degree was slightly greater than that in the model group from day 3 after ischemia-reperfusion (P<0.05). Conclusion: Domestic rhEPO can down-regulate the expression of HIF-1α in the retina with acute high intraocular pressure, which may be one of the mechanisms that rhEPO protects the retina from ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Objective To evaluate the effect and safety of Xiaoyin Ointment for blood-heat syndrome of psoriasis and to study further its effect on single symptoms of psoriasis such as erythema,scale,infiltration,pruritus and lesion area. Methods The 99 selected patients were randomized into 3 groups and were treated by Xiaoyin Ointment,Shidu (Damp and toxin removal) Ointment,and Vaseline Ointment respectively for 8 weeks. All patients of 3 groups took the Keyin Yifang (First prescription for psoriasis) as the basic medication. Objective To investigate the influence of human chorionic gonadotropin on testicular germ cell apoptosis of bilateral cryptorchidism in rats.Methods Immature male rats (22 day-old Sprague Dawley) were subjected to bilateral cryptorchidism and injected with 20 U human chorionic gonadotropin from the 22th day to the 34th day every other day. Sham operation rats were as control group. At age 35 days and 60 days, rats were sacrificed for detection germ cell apoptosis by terminal- deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated d-UTP nick end labeling (TUNEL). Results There were significant difference of apoptosis index (AI) between bilateral cryptorchidism and sham operation groups(P0.05).Conclusion AI of cryptorchidism increases and HCG addes the number of apoptotic germ cells.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD)is a common childhood behavioral disorder,and it is characte-rized by the core symptoms of attention deficit,hyperactivity and impulsivity.In recent years,a variety of neuropsychological deficits related to ADHD have been confirmed,including intelligence,attention and inhibition,verbal and spatial working memory,set shift,planning and monitoring.Some important theories related to the metal mechanism of ADHD have been put forward,and the representatives include behavioral inhibition theory,cognitive-energetic model,dual pathway theory and state regulation theory.

AIM:To compare the efficacy and safety of intravitreal ranibizumab to those of triamcinolone acetonide ( TA ) injection for the treatment of macular edema secondary to central retinal vein occlusion ( CRVO) .
METHODS:This retrospective study included 40 eyes of 40 patients with macular edema associated with CRVO. Twenty patients 20 eyes were treated with intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide (1mg, 0. 1mL), the other 20 patients 20 eyes accepted intravitreal ranibizumab (0. 5mg, 0. 05mL). The change of best corrected visual acuity ( BCVA ) , central macular thickness ( CMT ) , and intraocular pressure ( IOP ) before treatment and at 1, 2wk, 1, 2,3,6mo post-injection in the two groups were observed.
RESULTS:BCVA was improved at 1, 2wk, 1, 2,3,6mo post-injection in the TA group (P<0.05) and ranibizumab group ( P<0. 05 ). No significant difference was found between the two groups ( P > 0. 05 ). CMT decreased significantly within each group ( P < 0. 05 ), and no significant difference between groups was found ( P >0.05). In the TA group, the IOP was significantly higher at 2wk and 4wk than before treatment (P<0. 05). In the ranibizumab group, no elevated IOP was observed at 1, 2wk, 1, 2,3,6mo (P>0. 05). However, the IOP at 1mo was significantly higher in the TA group than that in the ranibizumb group (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION:Intravitreal ranibizumab is an effective and safe treatment method for macular edema secondary to CRVO. It can effectively improve BCVA and reduce CMT without ocular and systemic complications compared with intravitreal TA.
