The mechanism of chromium accumulation and microstructure transformation of the fused yeast were studied in this paper. The result showed that the process of Cr6+ reduction and adsorption was accom-panied by the H+ consumption. The main adsorptive groups on the strain surface included amino, hydroxyl, phosphate group and amide, among which phosphate group played vital role in the chromium accumulation. The removal rate of chromium and reduction rate of hexavalent chromium declined 70% and 46%,respec-tively,when phosphate group was masked.During the adsorption process the chromium ions complexed on the surface of fused yeast was transported into the cell wall and combined with inclusion to form steady spe-cies and this took 90 min to reach the equilibrium. The biosorption and reduction of Cr on the cell surface would alter microstructure of cell surface, reduce cell membrane potential and increase cell membrane per-meability.

The stability of microbial flocculant (MBF) produced by Aspergillus sojae and its application to municipal thickened sludge dewatering were studied. The results showed that the MBF had high heat and acid-base endurance with high flocculating activity in a wide range of pH from 1.5 to 12. The MBF retained 96% of flocculating activity after 35 days preservation at 4℃, but in different pH the flocculating activity difference was very apparent after 35 days store at room temperature. The experimental results also demon- strated that the MBF was better than PAM and PAC in reducing specific resistance filtration. The optimal dose of MBF used for intensifying thickened sludge dewatering is 7%(volume fraction). And the more the volume of sludge is treated, the less the cost of MBF for unit volume sludge treatment.

Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (M .hyopneumoniae) and Mycoplasma hyorhinis (M .hyorhinis) infections are common in China .To investigate the prevalence of M .hyorhinis and M .hyopneumoniae in Jiangsu Province of China ,a mo-lecular epidemiological survey was conducted from 399 nasal swab samples of unvaccinated pigs using nested Polymerase Chain Reaction (nested PCR) .Nasal swab samples were collected from Jiangquhai porcine lean (JQHPL) strain pigs and other West-ern breeds .Clinical samples were taken from each pig and divided into different groups based on ages of pigs (7 ,14 ,21 ,28 , and 35 days) .Results indicated that the prevalence of M .hyorhinis was 70 .9% from different herds in Jiangsu Province in China ,while the prevalence of M .hyopneumoniae was 13 .5% .M .hyorhinis infection was more common in pigs for less than 5 weeks of age compared to M .hyopneumoniae infection .Co-infection was also observed in 30 samples (7 .5% ) in which both M .hyorhinis and M .hyopneumoniae were detected .The M .hyorhinis infection increased as the animals grew from 7 to 35 days .The M .hyopneumoniae infection did not change significantly as the pigs grew older .Significant difference of M .hyorhi-nis infection was observed between other Western breeds and JQHPL pigs (P<0 .001) .JQHPL pigs appear to be more sensi-tive to the M .hyorhinis infection as compared to the other Western breeds .However ,there is no obvious relationship between the breed type and M .hyopneumoniae infection (P>0 .05) .

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relaxative characteristics of resveratrol on thoracic aortic artery in the rat and its mechanism.
METHODWe perfused the isolated rings and observed the response of NA-induced artery contraction to resveratrol under the Ca2+-contained and Ca2+-free bath solutions. In the same way were the effect of reveratrol on the vascular smooth muscle observed by adding two different concentration of KCl (30 and 80 mmol x L(-1)), and the effect on the contraction of the vascular smooth muscle depending on the intracellular calcium and extracellular calcium were also observed by adding NA. We also observed the effect of resveratrol on the contraction of rings induced by NA in the presence of L-NNA and Glibenclamide.
RESULTResveratrol relaxed rat aorta rings precontracted by NA in a dose-dependent manner. The relaxant effect of resveratrol on the rat rings of endothelium-denuded group was reduced compared with that of endothelium-intact group; the relaxant effect of resveratrol on rat rings was higher under the condition of Ca2+-free bath solution than that under the condition of Ca2+-contained bath solution. Resveratrol had a repressive effect on the aorta's contraction induced by intracellular calcium, but had no effect induced by extracellular calcium. Resveratrol relaxed the contractions induced by KCl 30 mmol x L(-1) as well as KCl 80 mmol x L(-1), but the contraction curve of KCl 80 mmol x L(-1) was shifted upward significantly. In the L-NNA group, the relaxant effect was attenuated by (26.0 +/- 4.6) %; but there was no change in the group of Glibenclamide ( P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe results indicate that resveratrol relaxes vascular smooth muscle in an endothelium dependent manner. The mechanisms for this phenomenon seem to be related with promoting synthesis and release of NO, opening Ca2+ activated K+ channel (KCa channel) as well as the inhibition of Ca2+ influx and release of Ca2+ from intracellular stores.
