Purpose To investigate the clinicopathologic characteristics of colorectal metastatic tumors. Methods Cases which were clinically diagnosed as metastatic tumors to the colorectum were retrieved from the data base of the Department of Pathology, Peking U-niversity Third Hospital. The clinicopathologic features were studied and immunohistochemical stains were performed on some of the ca-ses for differential diagnosis. Results Fifty three cases which showed intestinal wall involvement were studied. In 43. 4% (23/53) of them, only serosa/subserosa was involved and mucosal involvement was observed in 37. 7% (20/53) of the cases. Sigmoid colon and rectum were the most frequently involved intestinal segments (24/53, 45. 3%). Female reproductive system was the most common ori-gin of the metastatic tumors (33/53, 62. 3%), followed by the digestive system (15/53, 28. 3%). The most common histological type was ovarian serous carcinoma (22/53, 41. 5%). 96. 2% (51/53) of the metastatic tumors were centrally located at the serosa/subserosa or the muscular propria and prominent lymphovascular invasion was observed in 26. 4% (14/53) of the cases. In cases with mucosal involvement, 35% ( 7/20 ) had foci that were lack of desmoplastic reaction, 20% ( 4/20 ) exhibited in-situ growth and/or paradoxical maturation of tumor cells which led to misdiagnosis in 2 of the 17 pre-operative biopsies. Conclusions Metastatic carcino-ma in the colorectum can be highly informed by predominantly involving the serosa/subserosa or muscular propria and prominent lym-phovascular invasion. In-situ growth and paradoxical maturation of tumor cells in the mucosa are diagnostic pitfalls in pre-operative co-lonic biopsy and should be aware in practice.

Acta Anatomica Sinica 1955;0(03):-
Based on the principle of binocular stereopsis, three-dimensional reconstruction of the nucleus isthmus (NI) in the frog (Rana nigromaculata) has been realized by using a microcomputer system. The histological techniques used were somewhat different from conventional ones in that two pin holes, which were regarded as fiducial points to ensure an accurate alignment of the outlines of microstructures in the serial sections during three-dimensional computer reconstructing, were made in the tissue block with a micropipette before it was cut. All operations such as collection of outline-data of the microstructures, data processing and drawing output were all under control of the software. Three-dimensional morphology of NI and its location in the midbrain have been demonstrated by the stereopairs. Its dimensions measured on the basis of the reconstruction is 500 (caudorostal)?810 (dorsoventral)?810 (mediolateral)?m. The significance of three-dimensional computer reconstruction for accurately measuring the dimensions of NI and other biological microstructures and for the study of histological morphology are discussed.

Acta Anatomica Sinica 1953;0(01):-
According to the principle of shading, the nucleus isthmi (NI) from the frog (Rana nigromaculata) and lizard (Gekko gekko) were reconstructed in three-dimensions by using a microcomputer system. The dimensions and volume of NI in the two species were measured. A comparison of the three-dimensional structure of NI from the frog, lizard and pigeon indicates that the more advancedis is the species of lower vertebrates in evolution, the more complex is the three-dimensional structure of their NI.

Taking mesoporous molecular sieve MCM-41 as a substrate, baicalin (BA) as template, acrylamide (AM) as the functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as a cross-linking agent, ethanol as solvent, under thermal polymerization initiator of azobis isobutyronitrilo (AIBN) , a kind of selective recognition of baicalin surface molecularly imprinted polymer was synthesized. The surface morphologies and characteristics of the MIPs were characterized by infrared spectroscopy (IR) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The adsorption properties of polymer microsphere for the template were tested by the dynamic adsorption equilibrium experiments and static adsorption equilibrium experiments. The experiment showed that the imprinting process was successfully and the well-ordered one-dimensional pore structure of MCM-41 was still preserved. Furthermore, molecularly imprinted polymers had higher selective ability for BA, then provided a new method for the efficient separation and enrichment of baicalin active ingredients from medicinal plants Scutellaria baicalensis.

Objective To explore the potential role of endogenous vascular elastase (EVE) in pathogenesis of coronary ar-tery lesions (CAL) in Kawasaki diseases (KD). Methods A total of 60 children with KD admitted from Jan. 2012 to Apr. 2013 were enrolled, and at the same time 60 febrile children with respiratory infection were enrolled as controls. The left and right coro-nary artery diameter value was measured by ultrasonic cardiogram. The levels of EVE, matrix metalloproteinases (MMP)-9 and transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and their correlations with coro-nary artery diameter were analyzed. Results The levels of EVE, MMP-9 and TGF-β1 in KD children in the acute phase were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.01). Meanwhile, the level of EVE in KD children with coronary artery le-sion (CAL) is significantly higher than that in KD children without CAL. The results of correlation analysis indicated that the levels of EVE, MMP-9 and TGF-β1 were positively correlated with coronary artery diameters (r=0.64~0.79, P<0.01). Conclu-sions EVE plays an important role in the CAL of KD may through inducing the produce of MMP-9, TGF-β1 and finally caus-ing the formation of CAL.

Objective To investigate the changes of QT dispersion and heart rate variability in children with ventricular contraction. Methods 50 healthy children who came for medical examinations at Chengdu Women′s and Children′s Central Hospital from January 2012 to January 2014 were selected as control group. 147 children with ventricular contraction admitted in Pediatric Intracardiac Department of Chengdu Women′s and Children′s Central Hospital from January 2012 to January 2014 were divided them into Benign Group (LownⅠ&LownⅡ) and Malignant Group(LownⅢ, LownⅣA, LownⅣB&LownⅤ) according to the results of Lown classification. Benign Group contained 90 cases while Malignant Group contained 57 cases. Difference in QT dispersion and indices of heart rate variability of the three groups were compared. Results There were no statistically differences between control group and benign group in QT dispersion (P > 0.05). QT dispersion of malignant group was much longer than that of control group and the differences had statistically meaning(P<0.001). SDNN(standard deviation of NN intervals) , SDANN (standard deviation of the averages of RR intervals ), SDNN index (index of standard deviation of the averages of NN intervals), rMSSD(root mean square of successive differences) and PNN50(percentage of successive normal sinus RR intervals>50 ms) of malignant group was much shorter than that of control group and benign group and the differences had statistically meaning (P< 0.01). SDNN, SDANN and SDNN index of benign group was shorter than that of control group and the differences had statistically meaning (P<0.05). Conclusions Heart rate variability of children with malignant ventricular contraction becomes significantly shorter and QT dispersion becomes significantly longer. Detection of QT dispersion and heart rate variability can effectively predict the risky degree of ventricular contraction in children.
