Objective To evaluate the importance of the prenatal diagnosis to fetus with mild ventriculomegaly ( MVM) in pregnancy outcome and prognosis. Methods The ultrosonographic results of 51 pregnant women who were admitted to our hospital were collected in this study. In each case,a thorough evaluation of fetal anatomy was performed,karyotyping or MRI was done if needed,and follow-up was done un-til afterbirth. Results In 51 cases of lateral ventriculomegaly fetal:ultrasonography indicated there were 26 fetuses with mild ventriculomega-ly. The incidence of MVM complicated with other abnormities was 46. 0%,and that complicated with chromosome disorder was 11. 5%. Con-clusion Ultrasonography plays an important role in the detection of MVM. Chromosome analysis should be carried out for elder pregnant women when their fetuses are diagnosed as MVM and other complicating abnormities.

Objective To establish the method of high performance liquid chromatography and hydrid genesis atomic fluorescence spectroscopy(HPLC-HGAFS) about arsenic species in urine of rats treated with sodium arsenite.Methods The solution containing 15 mmol/L(NH4)2HPO4(pH=6.0)was used as the chromatographic eluant,the flow rate of which was 1.0 ml/min.The parameters of HPLC-HGAFS consisted of multiplier negative high voltage,hollow-cathode lamp's joint current and co-current,the flow rate of carrier gas,the flow rate of barrier shield gas,supporting liquid and reducing agent,which were 285 V,80 mA,36 mA,400 ml/min,600 ml/min,7%HCl and the mixed liquor of 1.5%KBH4 and 0.35% KOH respectively.Results The linear range of method was 20-100 ?g/L,and the linearity of regression equation of iAs3+,iAs5+,DMA was better.The lowest detection concentration of iAs3 +,iAs5 +,DMA in urine were 12.03,6.67 and 8.66 ?g/L respectively and all of the coefficient correlation were ≥0.98.The average recovery rates of DMA were 96.5%-103.4% and RSDs were 0.39%-1.26%.Conclusion The method has been proved accurate,sensitive and is applicable to the determination of arsenic species in urine.

Objective To investigate the safety of different intensity anticoagulation therapy of warfarin in preventing thromboembolism in octogenarian patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). Methods The 130 patients with persistent or permanent NVAF were randomly divided into three groups: low-intensity warfarin group (35 cases, international normalized ratio, INR (1.5-2.0), moderate-intensity warfarin group (32 cases, INR 2.1-2.5) and aspirin control group (63 cases). The rate of hemorrhagic events and the effect on renal function were observed. Results The incidence of hemorrhage was the lowest in low-intensity warfarin group compared to the other groups with slight bleeding in one case. life-threatening bleeding in one case, severe bleeding in one case and slight bleeding in four cases occurred in moderate-intensity warfarin group. Life-threatening bleeding in three cases, severe bleeding in two cases and slight bleeding in six cases occurred in aspirin control group. There were significant differences in bleeding incidence among the three groups (χ2=5.13,P＜0.05). The low-intensity warfarin group and moderate-intensity warfarin group were superior to the aspirin control group in the effect on renal function (P＜0.05). Conclusions It is safe that the dose of warfarin is maintained at low anticoagulation intensity between INR 1.5 and 2.0 in octogenarians with NVAF.

Objective To study the changes of serum protein spectrum in patients with systematic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in order to screen specific protein markers. Methods Serum samples from 72 patients with SLE and 85 age- and sex-matched controls were assessed using surface-enhanced laser desorp-tion/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (SELDI-TOF-MS) with weak cation exchange (CM10) pro-rein chip. Forty samples from the patients and 50 control samples were randomly selected to serve as a pre-liminary training set; significantly different protein peaks were automatically chosen for the system training and development of a decision classification tree model. The validity of the model was then challenged with a blind test set (including another 32 samples from patients and 35 from human controls). Results A total of 73 effective protein peaks were detected within the mass/charge ratio (m/z) interval 2000 - 50000, among which, 15 protein peaks significantly differed between patients with SLE and controls (P < 0.01). Three pro-tein peaks with an m/z value of 4001, 6305 and 7356 were automatically chosen as a biomarker pattern in the training set that discriminated patients with SLE from controls with a sensitivity of 90.0% (36/40), speci-ficity of 92.0% (46/50) and accuracy rate of 91.1% (82/90). When the SELDI marker pattern was tested with the blinded test set, it yielded a sensitivity of 87.5% (28/32), specificity of 91.4% (32/35) and accuracy rate of 89.6% (60/67). Conclusions SELDI-TOF-MS protein chip could be used to screen serum protein for SLE, and the decision classification tree model with these biomarkers may favor the diagnosis of SLE.

AIM: To establish the method for quality control of Gutongning Liniment(Herba Epimedii,Semen Strychni,Herba Ephedrae,etc.) METHODS: Herba Ephedrae,Radix Notoginseng,Ramulus Cinnamomi,Flos Caryophylli,Flos Daturae were identified by TLC,icariin content in Herba Epimedii and strychnine content in Semen Strychni were determined by HPLC. RESULTS: The identified characteristics of chromatography were distinct and the spots were clear.Icariin showed a good linear relationship at a range of 0.2-1.2 ?g,r=0.999 8.The(average) recovery was 10.3%,and RSD was 1.5%.Strychnine showed a good linear relationship at a range of 0.8-4.8 ?g,r=0.999 7.The average recovery was 99.17%,and RSD was 1.4%. CONCLUSION: The methods are accurate and reliable,and can be used to control the quality of this preparation effectively.

Objective:To investigate the relation of antiradiation effect of LJP and lymphocyte apoptosis. Methods:36 Wistar rats were randomly divided into 6 groups (n=6): control, model,and LJP given i.g.at 4 doses(100,200,300,400 mg/ kg bw) for 10d before whole-body irradiation with 9.0 Gy Co?-ray. 18h later,the effects of LJP on the indices of immune function of the irradiated rats 60 were measured. TUNEL and flow cytometry were used to study the effects of LJP on splenic lymphocyte apoptosis and immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the expression of Bcl-2 and the Bax protein. Results:LJP significantly modulated immune function in irradiated rats. The apoptosis ratio of splenic lymphocyte of the model group was higher than those of other groups. LJP could markedly inhibit the effects of irradiation on apoptosis and increase the ratio of bcl-2/bax protein in dose-effect manner. Conclusion:LJP could inhibit splenic lymphocyte apoptosis induced by irradiation, and its mechanism is associated with regulating the expression of bcl-2 and bax protein of splenic lymphocyte. Objective To evaluate the clinical curative effect of Qianlietai tablets on curing the chronic-abac- terial-prostatitis.Methods A 6 to 24 months observation was performed of 45 cases of sufferers of chronic-abacterial prostatitis who were supposed to take Qianlietai tablets 3 times per day with 5 pieces each time.The before and after treatment change of the chronic abacterial prostatitis symptom grade and the numbers of leucocytes examinated in the normal inspection of prostate succus were compared,the side-effects of the treatment were observed as well.Re- suits After the treatment,there were 16 cured cases,15 effective cases,8 markedly effective cases and 6 non-effec- tive cases in the total 45 cases of sufferers.Conclusion Qianlietai tablets has a clear curative effect on curing chronic abacterial prostatitis with a good tolerance.

Objective To evaluate the prognostic value of dynamic delta model of end stage liver disease(MELD)in patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis.Methods Ninty-seven patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis were enrolled in the study and followed for 1 year followed up.Child-Turcotte- Pugh(CTP)score and MELD score were calculated twice for each patient on the first day of admission and one month later.The difference between two MELD scores represented the delta MELD.The predictive value related with delta MELD,MELD and CTP scores was determined by the area under receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve.Results Ten patients died within 3 months,whose delta MELD(3.23?2.77) were higher than those of survivors(0.15?0.39)(P

Objective To analyze the clinical and immunological manifestations of antiphospholipid syndrome(APS)in a cohort of 100 patients.Methods The clinical and serologic features of APS(Sapporo preliminary criteria)in 100 patients were analyzed retrospectively.Results The cohort consisted of 79 female patients and 21 male patients witb a mean age of 36?13 years at diagnosis.Primary APS was presented in 37% of patients;APS was secondary to systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)in 46%,lupus-like syndrome in 14%. Eighty percent of the patients had thrombosis,43(54%)patients had venous thrombosis,18(22%)had arterial thrombosis,15(19%)had both arterial and venous thrombosis.4(5%)had thrombosis of microcirculation. Forty-two(52%)patients presented thrombosis at a single site,26(32%)at two sites,12(15%)at three or more sites.Forty-five(56%)patients experienced one thrombotic episode,20(25%)patients had only one re- currence,and 15(19%)had more thrombosis.The most common manifestations of thrombosis were deep vein thrombosis(36%),pulmonary embolism(30%)and stroke(26%),with heart,kidney,gastrointestinal tract and other organs involvements.Thirty-four(51%)female patients had spontaneous fetal losses including intrauter- ine fetus death and recurrent spontaneous abortion.Seventy-one(71%)patients developed thromboeytopenia. The presence of antieardiolipin antibody(ACL)was detected in 84 patients(84%).Among 90 patients with APS,alone ACL was detected in 38 patients(42%),both ACL and lupus anticoagulant(LA)were detected in 36(40%),LA alone in 16(18%).Patients with APS associated with SLE or lupus-like syndrome had higher frequency of arthritis,leukopenia,antinuclear antibodies(ANA)and low complement levels.Female patients had a higher frequency of leukopenia,ANA and ACL.Male patients had a higher prevalence of deep venous thrombosis in the lower limbs and LA.Conclusion APS is an autoimmune disorder characterized by recurrent arterial and venous thrombosis,fetal loss,or thrombocytopenia with the presence of ACL and/or LA.In APS secondary to with SLE,the patient's sex can modify the disease expression and define specific subsets of APS.
