Journal of China Medical University 2015;(6):557-561
Objective To investigate the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 7(MMP7)in paraquat(PQ)?induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats. Methods Forty?eight SD rats were randomly divided into the control group and the pulmonary fibrosis model group(PQ model group),each group of twenty?four rats. Rats in the PQ model group received single intraperitoneal injection of 4 mg/mL PQ dilute solution and the control group were in?traperitoneal injected with the same dose of saline. Eight rats of each group were sacrificed on day 7,day14 and day 28 respectively. The pathological changes of lung tissues were observed and the hydroxyproline(HYP)content in lung tissues was determined. The severity of pulmonary fibrosis was observed. The expressions of MMP7 in lungs were observed by immunohistochemistry. Results The observation of general state of the experimental animals showed that except one rat died at day 28 d,all other rats survived to the end point of observation. After intraperitoneal injection with PQ,the weight of rats in the PQ model group gradually declined, and then increased around day 14,yet still much lower than that in the control group at day 28(P<0.05). After intraperitoneal injection with PQ,the pulmonary index in the model group increased gradually and then decreased after reach?ing the peak on day 14. The content of HYP in rat lung tissues in the PQ model group was remarkably higher than in the control group at day 7,day 14,and day 28,with statistical significance(P<0.01). In the PQ model group, the content of HYP was significantly up?regulated with the extension of infected time and reached the peak value at day 28. The results of HE staining showed significant pulmonary alveolitis at day 7,hyperplasia of abundant collagen fibers in alveolar septum at day 14,and obvious pulmonary fibrosis and collapse of alveolar structure on day 28 in the lung tissues of the PQ model group. A weak expression of MMP7 was measured in the lung tissues in the control group and the expression of MMP7 was higher in the PQ model group than in the control group at day 7,day 14,and day 28,with statistical significance(P<0.05). Conclusion Paraquat poison?ing was mainly manifested in inflammatory reactions of lung tissues in the early stage together with increase of fibroblasts and mainly in fibrosis in the late stage. The expression of MMP7was increased along with the severity of pulmonary alveolitis or fibrosis and showed significant changes compared to the control group at day 28 after poisoning, indicating that MMP7may be the marker of paraquat?induced pulmonary fibrosis.

Objective To investigate the present status and developments of Chinese military neurosurgery, make an objective analysis about the achievements and deficiencies, and propose a developing trend for the field of Chinese military neurosurgery. Methods The scientific literatures of neurosurgery published domestically and abroad in recent 5 years were partially reviewed. The advances and achievements in basic researches and clinical works of neurosurgery acquired during the period of the 11th Five Year Plan were analyzed. Results During the period of the 11th Five Year Plan, Chinese military neurosurgery was still in the lead position in traditional areas such as traumatic brain injury. In the meantime, great achievements were obtained in the researches of brain and spinal cord tumors, endovascular treatment and functional neurosurgery, and 47 items of Army Science and Technology Advancement Prizes or Military Medical Achievement Awards were acquired. A great progress was made in personnel training. However, unbalanced development in neurosurgery field still existed within military departments, between military and civil departments and between different regions, so an enhanced technical interchange and cooperation is needed. Conclusions On the coming period, the research work of military neurosurgery should focuse on basic and clinical research of gene therapy to keep in step with neurosurgical trends in the world. On the other hand, attention should be paid to technological innovation with military features such as professional and general treatment of traumatic brain injury and researches on the development of protective equipments.

Journal of Peking University(Health Sciences) 2004;0(02):-
Objective: To study whether the bond strength between enamel and composite resin could be enhanced by intraoral sand abrasive. Methods: Ten human maxillary first incisior teeth were divided into 2 groups The experimental group was sandblasted with 30 ?m Al 2O 3 (CoJet Sand, pressure 300 kPa) from a distance of 5 mm for 5 seconds, and the control group were not sandblasted. The Herculite composite resin composite cylinders were bonded with Coltene system. Bonded specimens were stored in 37 ℃ distilled water for 24 h, then were subjected to shear force in a testing machine Stress at failure was calculated in Mpa, and mode of failure was recorded. The Student t test was applied to the data. Results: The shear bond strength of experimental groups was (33.0?1.8) MPa , and that of control groups was (26.7?5.2) MPa ,there was significant difference between these two groups. All the adhesive failures happened at the enamel composite resin interface , except that cohesive failure happened in one sandblasted specimen. Conclusion: Intraoral sandblasting could significantly enhance the shear bond strength between enamel and composite resin.
