The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of different posts on the fracture mechanics of endodontically-treated teeth with open apex. Forty-eight human maxillary anterior teeth were collected, and the root was transversely sectioned 12 mm under the cementoenamal junction (CEJ). These samples were then randomly divided into two groups, i.e., minor diameter open apex root (group A) and major diameter open apex root (group B), with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) placed into the apical 4 mm in the root canals. Subsequently, both groups were respectively further divided into three subgroups as follows: fiber-post (subgroup 1), metal post (subgroup 2) and non-post (subgroup 3) group. Teeth were restored with a composite resin crown and tested by using a universal testing machine at the rate of 1 mm/min cross-head. Values of the maximum fracture resistance and failure patterns were recorded and compared among all subgroups. In addition, the changes of MTA properties were carefully examined via X-ray photography. Our results indicate that (1) In group A, the mean value of fracture resistance for teeth restored with fiber posts were statistically higher than that with either metal post or non-post; (2) In group B, there was no statistically significant difference in the mean value of fracture resistance among three subgroups; (3) No statistical significance in the mean value of fracture resistance was found between group A and group B; (4) The failure modes of most samples (58%) were irreparable; (5) MTA in two teeth developed cracks after loading tests. In conclusion, endodontically-treated teeth restored with fiber posts are more resistant to fracture than those restored with either metal posts or non-post, and most of the fracture modes are catastrophic in nature.

Objective To explore the contamination by Legionella pneumophila in cooling water of centralized air condi-tioning system in hospitals and hotels.Methods In Aug2001,the water from cooling towers of centralized air conditioning sys-tems in4hospitals and2hotels were sampled in W city.The membranes filtering the cooling water samples were treated by hy-drochloric acid.After treatment,the mixed treated solution was inoculated into GVPC plate and cultured in candle jar.The susepectable colonies were identified by biochemical test,serological test and PCR test respectively.Results5strains of L pneu mophila in cluding3strains of Lp1type and2strains of Lp5type were isolated from water samples of the cooling towers of centralized air conditioning systems in2hospitals and one star-grade hotel in W city.Conclusion The contamination by le-gionella in water of cooling tower of centralized air conditioning system in hospitals and hotels should be monitored closely.

OBJECTIVETo investigate clinical effects of arthroscopy in the treatment of medial meniscal cyst.

METHODSFrom June 2011 to January 2013, 7 patients with medial meniscal cyst were treated with arthroscopy. There were 3 males and 4 females,ranging in age from 27 to 63 years old,with a mean age of (43.93±2.10) years old. The cysts have been discovered for 3 to 30 months,with a mean time of (10.6±1.3) months. All the patients complained of knee pain,especially in the medial joint gap. The Pisani sign, Caklin sign and medial McMurray sign were all positive. Preoperative MRI examination confirmed the diagnosis. Lysholm score changes and clinical efficacy were observed through a six-month follow-up.

RESULTSThe postoperative Lysholm scores were all significantly higher than the preoperative scores. According to Sarimo standard, 6 patients got an excellent result, and 1 good.

CONCLUSIONArthroscopic treatment of medial meniscal cyst has replaced the traditional method, which could retain the normal meniscus as much as possible and repair the meniscus injury simultaneously, as well as get a good curative effect and a good recovery of knee function. This method is worthy of clinical application.

Biotrickling filter often offers a cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional air pollutant control technologies,but major problems with clogging of the filters due to a high biomass accumulation will provent it from the industried uses.In this paper,the effect of the high biomass accumulation in an air pollution treatment with a biotrickling filter is discussed.Two parameters with specific surface area with biofilm growth(?_ f ) and the bed porosity with biofilm(?_ f )are used to analyse its principle of accumulation.Finally,some control measures including chemical methods,physical machine-made methods and other control methods are overviewed.

Toxic effects of L7 lyophilized powder of extracellular active components (L7-LPEAC), extracted from the Algae-lysing bacteria L7, on Chlorella pyrenoidosa were studied according to the changes of effective photosynthesis rate (EPR), the protein content, the chlorophyll a content and the MDA content of algae. The results showed that the growth of alga was promoted at low concentrations of L7-LPEAC (0.80 g/L, 1.25 g/L). The 96 h-EC50 and 120 h-EC50 upon Chlorella pyrenoidosa are 5.75 g/L and 2.55 g/L, respec tively. Objective To investigate early nasogastric nutrition on patients with acute decompensated chronic heart failure,and observe its influence on patient's disease outcome.Methods From January 2012 to December 2013,100 cases with acute decompensated chronic heart failure were used as the research subjects,were randomly divided into experimental and control groups with 50 cases each group.Patients of two groups adopt expansion of blood vessels,strong heart,diuresis,and routine anti-infection treatment;Based on this scheme,experimental group adopt early nasogastric nutrition.The cardiac function index,the change of nutritional status and clinical curative effect and the result of follow-up within 1 year after discharge of two groups were compared.Results Left ventricular end-diastolic dimension (LVEDD) and left ventricular end-systolic dimension (LVESD) in two groups after treatment were decreased,and the descender of experimental group was superior to that of the control group with statistically significant difference (P ＜ 0.05).After treatment,left ventricular ejection fractions (LVEF) of two groups were improved,and the rise of experimental group was superior to that of control group with statistically significant difference (P ＜0.05).In the two groups after treatment,the serum brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels were significantly decreased,and the descender of the experimental group was more than that of control group with statistically significant difference (P ＜ 0.05).After treatment,body mass index (BMI),the level of serum prealbumin (PA),transferrin (TRF),and the total number of lymphocytes of two groups were increased significantly (P ＜ 0.05);and BMI,the level of serum PA and TRF,and the total number of lymphocytes of the experimental group were significantly better than those of the control group (P ＜ 0.05).The total effective rate of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P ＜ 0.05).The exacerbation rates,readmission and mortality rate of experimental group follow-up within 1 year after discharge were significantly lower than that of the control group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The early nasogastric nutrition on the patients with acute decompensated chronic heart failure was better able to improve patients' nutrition state,more conducive to patients with cardiac function recovery,improve the clinical curative effect,and reduce the exacerbation rates,and readmission and mortality rate.
