AIM: To investigate curative effects of excimer laser corneal refractive surgery for adults or older adolescent with hyperopic anisometropic amblyopia.METHODS: From March 2014 to March 2016, we selected 26 cases 26 eyes of adults or older adolescent with hyperopic anisometropic amblyopia in our hospital.All eyes underwent laser in situ keratomileusis, observed for the uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), diopter and stereopsis.RESULTS: At the end of the follow-up, the patient`s spherical equivalent and anisometropia were 1.47±0.51D and 1.15±0.22D, were significantly lower than that before operation (P<0.05).At the end of the follow-up, the distance and near UCVA and BCVA were 0.26±0.13 and 0.23±0.09, 0.42±0.09 and 0.31±0.16, which were significantly higher than those before operation (P<0.05).At the end of follow-up, the visual function of the patients was significantly improved (P<0.05), the rate of postoperative visual function < 100 eyes was 23%.CONCLUSION: In adult or older adolescent with hyperopic anisometropic amblyopia, excimer laser corneal refractive surgery has a certain effect.

AIM:To investigate the effect of intravitreal injection of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) drugs combined with other methods in the treatment of Coats disease.METHODS:Selected 13 patients 13 eyes with Coats disease in our hospital from May 2013 to May 2016.All eyes were treated with intravitreal injection of ranibizumab and combined with scleral drainage, laser photocoagulation and so on.We observed visual acuity and retinal reattachment.RESULTS:In 13 eyes, the treatment of 4 eyes with intravitreal injection of ranibizumab and combined with scleral drainage, 3 eyes combined laser photocoagulation, 6 eyes combined vitrectomy, membrane peeling, freezing, silicone oil filling or other treatments.Eyeball retention rate was 100%.Visual acuity at 6mo after treatment significantly improved compared with before treatment (P<0.05).The visual acuity was ≥0.05-0.1, 0.01-<0.05, counting finger, light perception and hand moving before treatment in 0, 0, 38%, 38% and 23%, after treatment were 23%, 23%, 38%, 15% and 0.Complete retinal reattachment was achieved in 5 eyes, accounting for 38%;basic reset in 3 eyes, accounting for 23%;5 eyes were not reset, accounting for 38%.CONCLUSION:Intravitreal injection of anti-VEGF drugs combined with other methods for the treatment of Coats disease have a certain effect, can improve or maintain the limited visual function, avoid enucleation of eyeball due to disease progression.

Compared with traditional drying methods for Chinese materia medica, microwave drying technology is not only with the features of easy and convenient to operate, rapidity, good effects, well remained appearance of medicine and low energy consumption, but also with the feature of extraordinary sterilization effects at the same time with drying. This article introduced the features and effects of microwave drying and sterilization technology, reviewed its application in the TCM field, and proposed existing problems and prospects in the recent research by targeting security problems (microwave radiation and microwave residue).

Objective To investigate the spectrum and features of parkin gene mutations in Chinese patients with sporadic early-onset Parkinsonism (EOP) in southern China.Methods All 156 Han Chinese patients with sporadic EOP were screened for mutations in parkin gene using SYBR Green Ⅰ Real-time PGR combined with sequencing of the entire coding region of the gene.Results Nineteen cases carried parkin mutations, including 2 homozygous, 2 compound heterozygous and 15 heterozygous mutations.Seventeen parkin gene rearrangement mutations ( 12 exon deletions and 5 exon duplications) and three small sequence mutations (ⅣS9 + 18C ＞ T,c.202-203delAG and c.813delT) were identified.The c.813delT is a novel mutation.The segment between exon 1 and 7 are mutational hot spot.Cases with parkin mutations showed no difference in initial symptoms, cardinal symptoms and disease severity, compared with cases without parkin mutations.But patients with parkin mutations showed significant earlier onset age ( ( 40.9 ± 6.8 ) years vs (35.5 ± 10.0) years, Z = -2.271, P ＜0.05) and longer disease duration ( (4.4 ±3.6) years vs (7.6 ±4.0) years,Z = - 3.680, P ＜ 0.05 ) than those without parkin mutation.Conclusions The frequency of parkin gene mutation was 12.18% in Han Chinese patients with sporadic EOP.Rearrangement mutation may be the predominant type of mutations.The exon deletion is a main mutation style.The sequence fragment between exon 1 and 7 of the parkin gene are mutational hot spots.There were no significant differences in clinical features between cases with parkin mutation and those without.However, our patient with parkin mutations showed a significantly earlier onset age, longer disease duration and slower progression than those without parkin mutation.

Objective To explore the quality of life ( QoL ) and muscle strength in patients with pseudohypoparathyroidism ( PHP ) under regular treatment. Methods Twenty-three patients with PHP regularly followed at Peking Union Medical College Hospital from June 2017 to June 2018 were included. Age- and gender-matched 23 patients with nonsurgical hypoparathyroidism ( nHPT) and 23 healthy controls were also included. Short Form 36 Health Survey questionnaire version 2 ( SF36v2) were used to evaluate the QoL. Grip strength and repeated chair stand ( RCS) were used to assess muscle strength for upper and lower limbs respectively. Results Except for physical functioning, patients of PHP group had reduced scores in all other subdomains of SF36v2 compared to healthy controls ( P<0.05) . Comparing to nHPT patients, PHP patients had a higher score in social functioning, while no difference was found in other subdomains of SF36v2. Grip strength and RCS tests were similar in PHP patients and healthy controls. Conclusions Comparing to healthy controls, patients with PHP still had impaired QoL despite regular management, no significant difference of upper and lower limb muscle strength was found between PHP group and healthy controls.

The inhibitory effect of hydroxyapatite ultrofine powder (HAUFP) on tumor and the effect on the immunity function of body were investigated. The levels of IL-2 in the spleen cells and serum TNF levels in the tumor-bearing mice at the 7th day and 14th after peritoneal injection of HAUFP were detected by using the methods of colorimetric analysis of MTT and crystal purple decoration, respectively. The disappearance of the ascites of the mice was observed. The results showed that the levels of IL-2 and TNF in the tumor-bearing mice were higher obviously in the drug-treated group than in the control group (P<0.01), the ascites growth was inhibited. It was suggested that HAUFP could increase the levels of IL-2 and TNF of the tumor-bearing mice and improve the immune function of body.

·AIM:To investigate the therapeutic effect of intravitreal injection of Ranibizumab combined with laser for diabetic macular edema (DME). ·METHODS: Totally 60 cases (60 eyes) of DME patients treated in ophthalmology department of our hospital from June 2014 to June 2016 were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group. The control group were treated with laser therapy, and the observation group received intravitreal injection of ranibizumab on the basis of the treatment of the control group. Comparison between two groups on the best corrected visual acuity before operation and at 1wk,1,3, 6mo after operation was taken. The non - contact tonometer was used to measure intraocular pressure before and after treatment. The optical coherence tomography(OCT) was conducted to assess preoperative and postoperative central macular thickness (CMT).The postoperative complications of two groups were recorded subsequently. ·RESULTS: The two groups' postoperative visual acuity was significantly improved,data of the observation group at 1,3mo after operation was sharply higher than that of the control group, there was statistical significance (P<0.05), and data at 1wk, 6mo after operation had no evident difference (P>0.05). After 1wk of treatment, the two groups'intraocular pressure increased,with statistical significance (P<0.05);there was no significant difference between the two groups on intraocular pressure before treatment and at 1,3,6mo after treatment(P>0.05). The postoperative CMT of two groups significantly decreased, data of the observation group at 1, 3mo after treatment was evidently lower than that of the control group, there was statistical significance (P<0. 05), and data before treatment, at 1wk, 6mo after treatment showed no significant difference(P>0.05). In the observation group, 5 cases (5 eyes) recurred within 6mo,the recurrence rate was 17%. In the control group, 10 cases (10 eyes) relapsed,the recurrence rate was 33%,the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). At postoperatively 2d, 2 cases(2 eyes) of the observation group and 3 cases (3 eyes) of the control group had high intraocular pressure, and then returned to normal by given the carteolol eye drops. ·CONCLUSION: Compared with laser therapy alone, intravitreal injection of ranibizumab combined with laser therapy has a significant and safe short-term treatment effective for DME patients with a fast visual acuity recovery.

Objective:To establish the HPLC fingerprint of raw products,rice-processed products and honey-processed products of Codonopsis Radix from Shanxi,and establish determination of their chemical constituents,which was used to analyze the changes of types and contents of chemical constituents in Codonopsis Radix from Shanxi before and after processing. Method:Agilent ZORBAX SB-C₁₈ column(4.6 mm×250 mm,5 μm) was adopted,the separation process was carried out using a binary gradient elution system composed of 0.5% phosphoric acid aqueous solution and acetonitrile,the column temperature was 30℃ and the detection wavelength was 220 nm. Result:Compared with the corresponding reference fingerprint,the similarities of HPLC fingerprint of 10 batches of raw products and processed products were >0.90.In raw products,rice-processed products and honey-processed products of Codonopsis Radix from Shanxi,the contents of lobetyolin were (0.33±0.049),(0.24±0.034),(0.18±0.047) mg·g^-1,the contents of atractylenolide Ⅲ were (0.20±0.046),(0.40±0.046),(0.31±0.060) mg·g^-1,the contents of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(5-HMF) were (0.74±0.16),(1.45±0.19),(1.54±0.12) mg·g^-1,respectively. Conclusion:Different processing methods have little effect on types of chemical constituents in Codonopsis Radix from Shanxi,but have great effect on the contents of some chemical constituents.
