Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2010;33(3):1-3
Objective To determine quantity of type Ⅰ collagen and mRNA expression of decorin and transforming growth factor (TGF)- β_1 in the upper portion of the anterior vagina in women with pelvic organ prolapse (POP). Methods Transvaginat biopsies were obtained from the anterior vaginal wall in 27 POP(POP group) and 21 non-poP(control group). The concentration of type Ⅰ collagen was determined by ELISA technique. RT-qPCR was used to verify the mRNA level of decorin and TGF- β_1. Results The mean concentration of type Ⅰ collagen in the premenopausal women in POP group [(47.94 ± 6.82) mg/g total protein (TP)]was significantly lower than that in control group [(62.33±6.57) mg/g TP],in the postmenopausal women in POP group, it was (41.82±5.96) mg/g TP, significantly lower than that in control group[(61.21 ± 4.84)mg/g TP](P< 0.01). The mRNA expression of decorin was 1.61 ± 0.10 in POP group, significantly lower than that in control group 2.77±0.60 ,while that of TGF-β_1 was higher in POP greup10.86 ± 0.23 than that in control group 9.87 ± 0.92 (P < 0.05). In the postmenopausal women in two groups, there were no significant difference in the mRNA expression of decorin and TGF-β_1 (P > 0.05). Conclusions A decrease in quantity of type Ⅰ coUagen in the connective tissue of anterior vagina may compromise the tensile strength and an increase susceptibihty to prolapse. Deeorin might be involved in the pathogenesis in premenopausal women with POP. The pathogenesis of POP is muhifactorial.

China Oncology 2000;0(06):-
Purpose: To enhance one's ability to diagnose intracranial microcystic meningioma. Methods: Fifteen cases of intracranial microcystic meningioma have been studied either clinicopathologically, or ultrastructurally or immunohistochemically. Results: The results indicate that electron microscopy and immunohistochemically are very helpful for the diagnosis of the tumor. There was no predilection as to location, however the tumor was more common on the base of skull. Vacuole-like structure and/or vesicular dilatation could be seen in the cytoplasm and capillaries could be observed in between the spindle cells by light microscopy. Under electron microscopy, the processes separated from each other and formed into a cystic structure, and bundles of collagenous fiber could be found in it. In immunohistochemistry, the stains with vimentin and epithelium membrane antigen (EMA) were positive. Conclusions: Intracranial microcystic meningioma has some characteristics under the microscope, immunohistochemistry is helpful in its diagnosis, and election microscopy can confirm this diagnosis.

Objective To investigate the effect of Suanzaoren Decoction on hippocampus, cortex BDNF and TrKB gene expression in depression model rats. Methods Depression rat models were established by social-isolated raise and chronic stress stimulation. Suanzaoren decoction was administrated to the models. RT-PCR was adopted to detect the expression of mRNA BDNF and TrKB genes. Results The mRNA expression of BDNF and TrKB in cortex of Suanzaoren decoction high dose group、medium dose group and clomipramine group(0.213±0.094, 0.639±0.023, 1.032±0.015, 1.089±0.014, 1.580±0.012, 1.860±0.019)were all higher than the model group(0.032±0.008, 0.001±0.000), showing a significant difference among four groups (P<0.01), and the mRNA expression of BDNF and TrKB in hippocampus of Suanzaoren decoction high dose group, medium dose group and clomipramine group(0.213±0.094, 0.639±0.023, 1.032±0.015, 1.089±0.014, 1.580± 0.012, 1.860±0.019)were higher than the model group (0.021±0.015, 0.125±0.013), there was a significant difference between four groups(P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the mRNA expression of low-dose group of Suanzaoren decoction in both cortex and hippocampus of BDNF and TrKB was not significantly different to the model group(P>0.05). Conclusion Suanzaoren decoction can increase the expression of BDNF and TrKB gene, promote neuronal proliferation, and resist depression.

?AIM:To investigate the correlation between dry eye and different degrees of diabetic retinopathy ( DR ) in type 2 diabetic patients.?METHODS: In the cross-sectional study, 340 patients (340 eyes) with type 2 diabetes were enrolled. Tear film function tests including tear meniscus height, tear film breakup time ( BUT ) , fluorescein staining, Schirmer Ⅰtest were performed followed by surveying questionnaires about dry eye. Retinal status was evaluated by retinal color photography and indirect ophthalmoscopy exam with dilated pupils to evaluate DR and whether companied by macular edema.?RESULTS:The prevalence of dry eye was 49. 41%. The mean duration of diabetes in patients with dry eye was 11.15±7.07a, while 6.92±5.45a without dry eye(P<0.01). Dry eye had the positive correlation to the development of DR. The incidence of dry eye in people with mild nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy ( NPDR ) , moderate NPDR, severe NPDR and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) was 1. 097 times, 1. 724 times, 2. 86 times and 5. 43 times respectively, compared with people without DR. The occurrence of dry eye in people with macular edema increased by 3. 697 times compared with people without macular edema.?CONCLUSION: Dry eye was more prevalent in people with type 2 diabetes. The incidence of dry eye increased gradually with the occurrence and development of diabetic retinopathy.
