Objective: To analyze the relationship between high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and P wave dispersion (Pd) in patients with lone atrial ifbrillation (AF), and to explore the effect of inlfammation on atrial electrophysiological remodeling.
Methods: Our research included 2 groups. AF group, containing 71 consecutive paroxysmal lone AF patients, and Control group, containing 71 paroxysmal supra ventricular tachycardia patients with the matched age and gender. The clinical characteristics, electrocardiographic Pd assessment and plasma hs-CRP levels were compared between 2 groups. The relationship between hs-CRP and Pd was studied by linear and multi linear regression analysis.
Results: Compared with Control group, AF group showed increased left atrial diameter, Pd and hs-CRP, all P<0.05. multilinear regression analysis indicated that hs-CRP was positively related to Pd in both groups, P<0.01. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that hs-CRP was an independent risk factor for AF occurrence (HR=15.430, 95%CI 6.031-39.476, P<0.001), with adjusted Pd, multiple logistic regression analysis presented that both Pd and hs-CRP were the independent risk factors for AF occurrence, both P<0.001, while the HR for hs-CRP predicting AF occurrence was attenuated from 15.430 to 6.246.
Conclusion: Plasma hs-CRP level and electrocardiographic Pd were the important risk factors for paroxysmal lone AF, the interaction between hs-CRP and AF occurrence could be mediated by Pd, suggesting that inlfammation might be involved in atrial electrophysiological remodeling.

Objective: To study the safety and efifcacy of hematoma aspiration with manual compression for treating the patients of femoral pseudoaneurysm after cardiac catheterization under ultrasound guidance. Methods: A total of 27 patients suffering from post-catheterization iatrogenic femoral pseudoaneurysm were analyzed including 14 male and 13 female at the mean age of (53.5±11.4) years. The body, neck and blood supply area of pseudoaneurysm were located by ultrasonography; 18 gauge needle was punctured into the center of pseudoaneurysm to aspirate blood, meanwhile the neck and body of pseudoaneurysm were manually compressed to block blood supply for relevant artery under ultrasound guidance. Manual compression was conducted for 15 min followed by bandage compression; the patients were lie on the back and kept lower extremity straight for 12 hours. Ultrasonography was performed at 24 hours and 1 month after the operation in all patients respectively. Results: There were 24/27 (88.9%) patients having successful aspiration with manual compression at ifrst time; 2 (7.4%) having incomplete occlusion at ifrst time and the success was obtained by second time; 1 having incomplete occlusion due to coexisted femoral arteriovenous ifstula, while the body of pseudoaneurysm was obviously decreased. The overall success rate was 96.3% (26/27), no procedural complication occurred. Conclusion Ultrasonography guided hematoma aspiration with manual compression has been safe and effective for treating the patients of iatrogenic femoral pseudoaneurysm.

Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics, risk factors and prevention measures of nosocomial infection in senile patients with hematologic disorders. Methods The clinical data of 581 senile patients with hematologic disorders from July 2005 to June 2007 were retrospectively analyzed. Results The nosoeomial infection rate was 30.5%(177/581). The 581cases developed nosocomial infection for 254 times [43.7% (254/581)]. Lower respiratory tract infection was the most frequent infection site, followed by intestinal infection and upper respiratory infection. The species were predominated by Gram-negative bacillus (67.1%) . The risk factors of nosocomial infection were non-remission of malignant diseases, chronic underlying diseases, long time hospitaliation, community infection, granulocytopenia, invasive manipulation and application of adrenocortical hormone and antibiotic. Conclusions The nosoeomial infection rate is high in senile patients with hematologic disorders and it can be decreased by taking prevention measures according to the risk factors.

Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science 2010;19(5):436-439
Objective To investigate neural correlates of the generation, execution and inhibition of motor intention. Methods Behavioral performance and event-related potentials (ERP) of 14 participants were recorded when they performed a two-staged Go-Nogo task. At the stage of intention preparation, three kinds of the "what" cues were presented separately to the participants : (1) to press a response key by the left or the right hand (the instructed) ,(2) to decide freely which hand will be used (the free) ,(3) to wait for the second cue (the control). At the stage of intention execution, the "whether" cue suggested the participants execute (Go) or withdraw (Nogo) the previous intention either voluntarily or forcedly. Results The interaction effect between the "what" and the "whether" was significant(F(2,26) = 8.262, P=0.002). The forced responses were faster than those of voluntary action under both the instructed condition ((468.52 ±105.87)ms vs (546.67 ±146.33)ms) and the control condition ((536.78 ± 83.28) ms vs (589.75 ± 140.80) ms). No significant difference was found for the free condition((538.71 ± 127. 39) ms vs (561. 44 ± 146. 51) ms). At the stage of intention preparation, significant ERP effects between the instructed intention and the freely intention were revealed in bilateral frontal regions (150~200 ms) , frontoparietal area (300~700 ms)and right temporal area. At the stage of intention execution,ERP effects between voluntary inhibition and voluntary action were observed in left prefrontal area (160~220 ms) ,fro-nto-cento-parietal area and right frontoparietal area. (300~550 ms). Conclusion The motor intention may be generated in the prefrontal area and maintained in the frontoparietal network. The left prefrontal and fronto-centro-parietal areas inhibit intention in the early stage and the right frontoparietal area involves response inhibition lately.

Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science 2010;19(4):358-360
Objective To investigate neural correlates of the retrieval of temporal order. Methods ERP of 19 channels was recorded from 17 healthy young students while they performed a recency judgment task,a recognition task and a visual discrimination task separately, which were based on Sternberg paradigm.One-way ANOVA of repeated-measurement and post-hoc paired comparisons were carried out for both the task factor(temporal order, recognition and control)and the temporal distance factor correspondingly. The latter contains 3 intervals (1,2 and 3)between the targets. Results The temporal distance effect was significant:the closer targets correspond to longer reaction time((745.5±106.1)ms,(711.7±102.2)ms,(653.7±81.5)ms;F_((1.28,20.48))=43.37,P=0.00]and higher error rate((62.8±7.0)%,(72.5±5.4)%,(84.5±6.4)%;F_((1.32,21.11))=135.99,P=0.00].Significant behavioral effect of the task factor was also found for both reaction time(F_((1.32,21.11))=135.99,P=0.00)and error rate(F_((2,32))=200.31,P=0.00).No significant behavioral difference was found between the temporal order group and the recognition group. The spatiotemporal pattern of statistical parametric mapping(SPM)suggested the ERP effects of temporal order were presented in left temporal region (260~270 ms),bilateral parietal-occipital areas(280~290 ms),and bilateral parietal lobes(300~400 ms)prominently. No ERP effect was found between the temporal order task and the recognition task. Conclusions The neural correlates of the temporal distance effect exist in bilateral parietal regions.Temporal order as well as object information processing involves similar cerebral regions during the retrieval period.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2009;29(5):540-5
Overexpression of human ether-脿-go-go (eag) related gene (hERG) has been found in a broad range of human leukemia cell lines and primary human leukemia. The block of hERG protein might be a potential therapeutic strategy for leukemia. Gambogic acid (GA) has recently exhibited marked anti-tumor potency on solid tumors of various derivations. Here, we investigated the anti-leukemia effects of GA and its relation to the regulation of hERG in K562 leukemia cells in vitro. K562 cells were treated with various concentrations of GA (0.125-8.0 micromol/L) for 0-72 h. MTT assay was used to evaluate the inhibition effect of GA on the growth of K562 cells. Cell apoptosis was measured through both Annexin-V FITC/PI double-labeled cytometry and transmission electron microscopy. Cell cycle regulation was studied by a propidium iodide method. RT-PCR and Western blot were applied to detect the expression level of hERG in K562 cells. GA presented striking growth inhibition and apoptosis induction potency on K562 cells in vitro in a time- and dose-dependent manner. The IC(50) value of GA for 24 h was 2.637+/-0.208 micromol/L. Moreover, GA induced K562 cells arrested in G(0)/G(1) phase, accordingly, cells in S phase decreased gradually, and no obvious changes were found in G(2)/M phase cells. Under the transmission electron microscopy, apoptotic bodies containing nuclear fragments were found in GA-treated K562 cells. After treatment with GA of 2.0 micromol/L for 24 h, the percentage of apoptotic cells was increased from 4.09% to 18.47% (P<0.01). Overexpression of hERG channel was found in K562 cells, while GA could down-regulate it at both protein and mRNA levels (P<0.01). It was concluded that GA exhibited its anti-leukemia effects partially through down-regulating the expression level of hERG channel in K562 cells, suggesting that GA may be a potential agent against leukemia with a mechanism of blocking hERG channel.
