Objective To study the expression of DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) in human cervical carcinoma tissue and cells, analyze the relationship between the expression level of DNMT1 and the clinicopathologic features of cervical carcinoma, and explore the role DNMT1 plays in tumorigenesis of cervical carcinoma. Methods The expression levels of DNMT1 protein in 3 cervical cancer cell lines, 89 samples of cervial cancer tissue, 20 samples of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and 20 samples of normal cervix were determined by immunohistochemistry method. The expression levels of DNMT1 mRNA in all the cell lines and 79 paraffin sections of cervix tissue were determined by RT-PCR. OBJECTIVE: To study the effects of Wenyang Chubi Decoction (WYCBD), a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine, on connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and collagen-I (COL-I) in a mouse model of scleroderma. METHODS: Scleroderma was induced in BALB/c mice by daily local injection of bleomycin for three weeks and the mice were randomly divided into untreated, WYCBD-treated and normal saline (NS) treated groups, with another group of BALB/c mice as normal control. WYCBD and NS were given orally for one month respectively. Histopathology in the skin and lungs of the mice were examined. The CTGF and COL-I expressions in the skin or skin lesions were detected by immunohistochemical Elivision assay. RESULTS: The expression levels of CTGF and COL-I in the untreated group were significantly higher than those in the normal control group (P<0.05). Compared with the NS-treated group, the WYCBD-treated group had significant improvement in the skin and lung histopathology and remarkably decreased expression levels of CTGF and COL-I (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Scleroderma mice showed high expressions of CTGF and COL-I in the skin. WYCBD had the effects of decreasing the CTGF and COL-I expressions and improving the skin fibrosis.

To evaluate the treatment effect of the late avascular necrosis of femoral head with concentrated autologous bone marrow and impaction autologous bone graft. The clinical data of 35 patients with late avascular necrosis of femoral head treated with the above methods was analyzed retrospectively with the University of Pennsylvania staging system, and evaluated with Harris hip score system. Among the 35 patients, there were 8 at stage Ⅲ, 23 at stage Ⅳ and 4 at stage Ⅴ. The preoperative Harris hip scores ranged from 43-72 with the average scores of 49. The patients were followed up for at least one year with the mean time of 2 years and 3 months. Two patients (preoperative at stage Ⅴ) had received total hip replacement duo to severe pain and ostarthritis. The imageology in 5 patients showed that the femoral head appearance collapsed little compared with that before operation, but their subjective feelings were well. All the femoral heads of left patients remained the shape after operation, complains of pain disappeared or lessened. The overall successful rate was 94% (33/35). In Harris scale, there was 1 patient with 92 scores, 17 with 80-89 scores, 3 with 70-79 scores and 2 patients

Objectives: The survivors of first-ever stroke are at a high risk of recurrent stroke. The time interval between first-ever stroke and first recurrence of stroke, however, have not been well studied. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the time interval between first-ever and first recurrence of stroke and the risk factors of stroke that were related to the length of time interval. Methods: Patients admitted in our hospitals during 2014 with first recurrence of stroke were included in the study. A total of 377 patients were enrolled and a standardized questionnaire was used to collect data in this retrospective study. Results: The mean time interval among all the subjects was 58.42 months (median, 36.01 months; range 0.16months to 455.98months). The mean time interval was shorter in hemorrhagic stroke group (56.78 months) than in ischemic stroke group (58.75 months), but the difference was not significant (p=0.819). The median of time interval was similar in the two groups. The associated risk factors to the length of time interval were age over 60 years, subtype of first-ever stroke, the length of history of hypertension. Age was the only associated risk factor to the time interval among patients with first recurrence of hemorrhagic stroke. Conclusion: Factors associated with the time interval are different among different types of recurrent stroke. This provides the basis for preventive treatment for recurrent stroke after their first-ever stroke

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of precursor of gastrin‐releasing peptide(ProGRP) for the differen‐tial diagnosis between small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and non‐small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) and efficacy assessment .Methods The levels of ProGRP were detected by ELISA in 210 healthy adults ,200 patients with lung benign disease ,260 patients with NSCLC and 182 patients with SCLC before treatment and after chemotherapy .Results The level of ProGRP in the SCLC group was significantly higher than that in the NSCLC group ,healthy control group and lung benign disease group(P<0 .01) .The sensi‐tivity of ProGRP for detecting SCLC was 56 .3% and the specificity was 92 .6% .When combination detection of ProGRP and NSE was used ,the sensitivity increased to 82 .6% ;the level of ProGRP in the patients with SCLC after 2‐cycle chemotherapy was signifi‐cantly lower than before treatment (P<0 .01) .Conclusion The tumor marker ProGRP has very important guidance significance to assisted diagnosis ,differential diagnosis and efficacy assessment of chemotherapy in the patients with SCLC .

Background Clinical research showed that the corneal endothelial cell density value from different corneal specula microscopies exist diversity.The relevant literature of SP02,Tomey EM-3000 and SP3000P is still seldom up to now. Objective This research was to assess the repeatability of endothelial cell density measurements by SP02,Tomey EM-3000 and SP3000P respectively and the agreement among 3 kinds of endothelial microscopes.MethodsFifty-four healthy volunteers with the age 17-38 years old were included this research.The written informed consent was obtained from each subject before examination.The corneal endothelial cell densities in the right eyes were analyzed with SP02,Tomey EM-3000 and SP3000P respectively for 3 times under the automatic mode,and the analytical procedure of SP3000P measurement were divided into automatic mode SP3000P (A) and manual correction modes SP3000P( M).The repeatability of each specula microscopy was analyzed by calculating the intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) and coefficient of variation ( CV ),and the 95％ confidence intervals and plotting Bland-Altman graphs were used to analyze the agreement among these methods.ResultsThe mean corneal endothelial cell densities in the population ＜24 years were significantly higher than the ones ≥ 24 years (t =3.692,P＜0.05 ),but no statistical difference was found between different gender ( t =0.335,P =0.739 ).The mean corneal endothelial cell densities were ( 3058 ± 260 ),( 2954 ± 229 ),( 2668 ± 258 ),( 2734 ± 268 ) cell/mm2 ; the ICCs were 0.957,0.940,0.972 and 0.972 and the CV were 0.063,0.061,0.056,0.058 for SP02,Tomey EM-3000,SP3000P (A) and SP3000P ( M ) respectively.The 95％ confidence intervals were ( - 100.8 - 306.8 ),( 162.6 - 617.4 ),( 109.9-494.1 ) and ( -0.6 - 132.6 ) cell/mm2 for between SP02 and Tomey EM-3000,SP3000P ( A ) and SP02,SP3000P(A) and Tomey EM-3000,SP3000P(A) and SP 3000P(M) respectively.ConclusionsSP02,Tomey EM-3000 and SP3000P(A) have good repeatability in the measurement of corneal endothelial cell density,however the outcome is different.Therefore,it is not interchangeable for the detection of corneal endothelial cell density.The differences of corneal endothelial cell density obtained from these instruments shall be paid high attention for their differences.SP3000P(A) and SP3000P(M) can be used interehangeably and SP3000P(A) is a preferable choice due to its convenience and quickness.

Shanghai University of TCM was the first Chinese medicine university that established field-grade experimental teaching center in China.And both of the Chinese medicine and Chinese herbs experimental teaching centers became national experimental teaching demonstration centers.There is general improvement in laboratories conditions,so the experimental teaching team building is the critical factor of improving experimental teaching quality.The experimental teaching team of Shanghai University of TCM consists of excellent teachers as its backbone,and lecturers and technicians from fields in traditional Chinese medicine Chinese herbs and clinical practices.The team members cooperate with each other by setting up experimental teaching research groups to improve teaching quality,which plays an important role in building experimental teaching demonstration center.
