To observe the clinical efficacy of diclofenac sodium eye drops for postoperative recurrence of pterygium, and to provide safer drug regimens to prevent the recurrence of pterygium.
● METHODS: From November 2011 to September 2013, 124 patients 134 eyes who underwent surgery because of pterygium in our hospital were randomly divided into trial group ( diclofenac sodium eye drops and sodium hyaluronate eye drops) and control group ( tobramycin dexamethasone eye drops and sodium hyaluronate eye drops), all patients were followed up for 3mo ( once a week ) and the cornea, intraocular pressure and recurrence of pterygium were observed and compared between the two groups.
●RESULTS: Followed up for 3mo, 43 cases (45 eyes) in the trial group and 38 cases (39 eyes) in the control group had done the follow up as planned, in which 14 cases (15 eyes) showed the signs of recurrence, 2 cases (3 eyes) recurred eventually in the trial group, and in the meantime there were 12 cases (13 eyes) with signs of recurrence and 2 cases ( 2 eyes ) with a recurrence eventually in the control group, but no statistical difference was found between the two groups (P>0. 05);there were 6 cases (9 eyes) dropped out of the study with a higher intraocular pressure in the control group, compared to trial group (0 cases of 0 eye), the difference was statistically significant ( P < 0. 05); cornea conditions between the two groups had no statistical significance (P>0. 05).
●CONCLUSlON:Diclofenac sodium eye drops is effective and safe in preventing the recurrence of pterygium.
2. The effects of radiotherapy and concurrent chemoradiotherapy on cell proliferation, apoptosis and cell cycle of cervical squamous carcinoma
Tumor 2007;27(8):642-645
Objective: To clarify the molecular mechanism underlying the response of locally advanced cervical squamous carcinoma to radiotherapy or concurrent chemoradiotherapy. Methods: Forty-nine patients were divided in to two groups. The 25 patients in radiotherapy (RT) group were given radiotherapy alone. The 24 patients in the concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) group were given 3 cycles of chemotherapy (DDP + 5-FU) in addition with RT. The specimens of the cervical tumors were obtained by biopsy before and during the treatment (10 Gy irradiation for RT group and 10 Gy irradiation plus one cycle of DDP + 5-FU chemotherapy for CCRT group). The cell cycle distribution was analyzed by flow cytometry (FCM). The apoptosis and PCNA expression in both groups were detected by TUNEL and immunohistochemical methods. Results: Apoptosis index (AI) and the positive rate of apoptosis were significantly increased after initiating RT and CCRT, respectively (P < 0.05, P < 0.001). There were also marked reduction of PCNA after 1 week of RT and CCRT (P = 0. 000 and P = 0.000). The CCRT significantly increased the apoptosis rate and decreased PCNA expression than RT (P = 0.03 and P = 0.005). Most cervical cancer cells were arrested in G2/M phase during RT treatment. However, CCRT induced S and G2/M phase arrest in a majority of cervical carcinoma cells. Conclusions: The additive or synergistic effects between chemotherapy and radiotherapy may be the mechanism for the effect of CCRT on locally advanced cervical squamous carcinoma CCRT induces apoptosis of tumor cells by inhibiting cell proliferation, inducing S and G2/M phase arrest, and synchronizing cell cycle.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) refers to tne transition during which epithelial cells undergo the loss of apical-basal polarity, acquisition of migration capability and transformation into mesenchymal cells. EMT induces breast cancer in situ to developing into metastasis and associates with the drug resistence. The multiple elements including signal pathways, transcriptional factors and downstream genes orchestrate the transition. Among them, the transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) signaling pathway plays a key role in the regulation of EMT in breast cancer. And this paper reviews the development of TGF-β signaling pathway induced EMT in breast cancer.

Objective To investigate the values of CD21 and CD43 proteins in the differential diagnosis of mucosa-associated marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (MALToma) from benign lymphadenosis. Methods The expression of CD21 and CD43 proteins in the tissues of 25 MALToma (case group) and 25 benign lymphadenosis (control group) was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results Abnormal CD21+follicular dendritic cells (FDC) meshes were found in all patients of case group. Most of the FDC meshes were sparse and broken, and a few were enlarged or fused into pieces. Intact CD21+FDC meshes were all found, and abnormal FDC meshes were not found in control group. The positive rate of abnormal FDC meshes in case group was significantly increased compared with that in control group (χ2 = 46.080, P= 0.000). The expression rate of CD43+in CD20+cells was 24 % (6/25) in case group, but it was negative in control group (χ2=4.375, P=0.030). Conclusions Abnormal CD21+FDC meshes and CD43+expression in CD20+cells are useful in the differential diagnosis between MALToma and benign lymphadenosis. The abnormal FDC meshes of MALToma are enlarged or fused in the minority of cases.

OBJECTIVEIn our study, the function of the third-order branches of the mesentenc artery was measured by microvascular ring technique, which can be used to detect microvascular function in some disease related to microvascular dysfunction.
METHODSIsolated, fixed, standardized and then activated the third-order branches of rat mesenteric artery. Microvascular tone was measured by systolic and diastolic drags respectively, with the help of DMT tension apparatus and PowerLab data acquisition system.
RESULTSThe third-order branches of rat mesenteric artery showed excellent response to vasoactive drugs. The contraction effect of norepinephrine (NE) reached 19 in mN. When acetylcholine (Ach) or sodium nitroprusside (SNP) of 10(9)-10(5)mol/L was added, vascular tones showed gradient drop: 80% of maximal relaxation when adding ACh, while 95% of maximal relaxation when adding SNP.
CONCLUSIONThe third-order branches of the mesenteric artery function was successfully detected by using microvascular ring technique.

Objective:To report a case of McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS). Methods:Investigated one case's clinical data of McCune-Albright syndrome and reviewed related literatures. Analyzed the cause of disease, clinical manifestation, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Results: The diagnostic criteria of MAS are the fibrous dysplasia of bone (FD), in addition to at least a kind of typical hypercrinemia, and (or) special café-au-lait skin spots. A definite diagnosis can be made by discovering the mutation of Gs α-gene in cyst fluid from the ovarian follicle and exceptional bone tissue by gene diagnosis. Conclusion:MAS is a rare disease in clinic and the most of domestic doctors don't know it yet, so it is easy to be misdiagnosed or missed diagnosis. There is no specific treatment for MAS. We must consider it when encounter these patients with sexual precocity as well as with café-au-lait skin spots, and it will be helpful to treat by earlier discovery.

Synchronous multiple primary carcinomas refers to 2 or more than 2 kinds of different primary malignant tumors develop synchronously or in 6 months. The incidence of synchronous multiple primary carcinoma is low.A patient with esophageal basaloid squamous cell carcinoma (BSCC) and gastric adenocarcinoma was admitted to the First People's Hospital of Lianyungang in October 2011.The main symptom of this patient was dysphagia, and multiple lesions were found in esophagus, cardia and stomach fundus by gastroscopy respectively. On computed tomography image, eminence lesion in esophageal midpiece and wall thickening from esophagus-cardia to stomach fundus were displayed and were both enhanced slightly by enhancement scanning. The esophageal and cardia tumors were resected via left thoracic approach, and postoperative pathological examination revealed esophageal BSCC and moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of cardia respectively.Comedo necrosis and red basal membrane material were seen under light microscope. The expressions of cytokeratin 5/6 and P63 were positive, the expression of cytokeratin L was weak positive and the expressions of synaptophysin, chromogranin A and CD117 were negative. The patient suffered from pleural effusion and multiple liver metastases after 4 months follow-up and died of liver metastases in May 2012.Multiple primary carcinomas including esophageal BSCC and gastric adenocarcinoma are rarely seen in clinical practice.Their diagnosis and differential diagnosis mainly depend on histological morphology and immunohistochemical method.Surgical resection combined with postoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy is selectable, but the prognosis is poor.

The study was aimed to analyse and enumerate the dendritic cells (DC) subsets in peripheral blood and bone marrow (BM) of healthy individuals in China by using 2 panel 4-color flow cytometry (FCM). The percentage and absolute number of Lin-HLA-DR+CD11chiBDCA1+ myeloid DC (mDC) and Lin-HLA-DR+CD123hiBDCA2+ plasmacytoid DC (pDC) were detected in 35 normal BM (NBM) and 29 normal peripheral blood (NPB), the results were compared with the Lin-HLA-DR+CD11chimDC and Lin-HLA-DR+CD123hi pDC obtained by 3-color FCM. The results indicated that both absolute count of DC subset and relative count of pDC in BM were decreased along with increase of age, the absolute count of DC subset in male BM was higher than that in femoral BM (p<0.05). The DC subsets in NBM and NPB were different whatever by 3 or 4-color cytometric analysis, there were more mDCs than pDCs in PB and the ratio of mDC to pDC was 2.70 and 2.31 respectively. In contrast, pDCs predominated in BM, the ratio of mDC to pDC in BM was 0.90 and 0.71 respectively. The quantity of DC subsets significantly correlated to both frequency (mDC r=0.86; pDC r=0.96, p<0.05) and absolute number (mDC r=0.95; pDC r=0.98, p<0.05) between 3 and 4-color cytometric analysis. The quantity of DC subsets in PB and BM were significantly different, counted by 3 and 4-color cytometric analysis except pDC in PB (p<0.001). The quantity of DC subsets were much higher by 3-color than that by 4-color analysis. Since some Lin-HLA-DR+CD11chimDC and Lin-HLA-DR+CD123hi pDC were BDCA1- and BDCA-2dim/- respectively, that more were in BM than in PB. It is concluded that the DC absolute enumeration is correlated with sample type, gender, age and total nucleated cells (p<0.05). 4-color antibody combination may help to identify the real DC subsets in BM. DC subsets in NBM and NPB are different, that more mDC are in PB whereas more pDC in BM.
