Serum pepsinogen(PG)is an effective marker for evaluating gastric mucosa function and can be used as a supplement for screening and early diagnosis of gastric cancer. Recently,serum PG has become a hot spot of study in portal hypertensive gastropathy and functional dyspepsia. Serum PG detection is a noninvasive,simple and low cost investigation method with marked clinical value. This article reviewed the value of serum PG detection in warning gastric cancer and evaluating gastric mucosa function.

Aim To evaluate the effects of fibrinolytic enzyme FⅡ from agkistrodon acutus venom on an experimental model of kidney thrombus induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS). Methods The model of microvascular thrombosis in the rabbits kidney was performed by the method of Hermida, which was induced by infusing LPS. Treatments were begun simultaneously with LPS infusion, through the contralateral marginal ear vein. Six different groups were established: NS 10 ml?h~-1 was infused as the negative control group, urokinase ~20 000 IU?kg~-1 ?h~-1 as positive control group, FⅡwas infused with the dosage of 0.1(Low-dose), 0.3 (medium-dose),0.6 (high-dose) mg?kg~-1 ?h~-1 . The further rabbits, which were given neither LPS nor FⅡ, were infused with saline solution through both marginal ear veins. Kinney sections were examined for the presence of fibrin microthrombi. The measurement of FDP concentrations was used to assess the degradation of microvascular thrombosis. Results Intense fibrin deposition was also detected and FDP concentrations were (78.21?4.79)% and (84.27?6.21)% at 2 and 6 hours after LPS administration in LPS-control group. Little fibrin deposition was detected and FDP concentration also increased in urokinase control group. A lot of fibrin deposition was detected in Low-dose FⅡ group,little fibrin deposition was detected in medium-dose FⅡ group, and no fibrin deposition was detected in high-dose FⅡ group. Objective To investigate the anticancer effects and molecular mechanism of betulinic acid (BA)on Raji cells in vitro.Methods The effects of BA on the growth of Raji cells were studied by MTT assay.Apoptosis was assessed by Annexin-V/PI double-labeled cytometry.The influence on cell cycle was studied by flow cytometer.The cyclin D3 mRNA expression was checked by Western blotting and RT-PCR techniques.Results BA showed obvious inhibition on proliferation,as well as induction potency of apoptosis on Raji cells in vitro in a time-and dose-dependent manner by Annexin-V/PI double-labeled method.With the IC_(50)value for 24 h being(39.44?0.65)?g/mL,Raji cells treated with BA showed ac- cumulation in G_0/G_1 phase and reduction in the percentage of cells in S phase.The cyclin D3 mRNA ex- pression and protein were sharply decreased in Raji cells treated with BA.Conclusion BA could inhibit the proliferation of Raji cells by regulating the cell cycle that arrests cells at G_0/G_1 phase and induces apop- tosis of Raji cells.The antitumor effects of BA may be related to down-regulation of the expression of cy- clin D3.

Osteomyelitis,particularly chronic one,is still a huge challenge to orthopedic surgeons.The current treatment for osteomyelitis centers on sensitive antibiotic coverage and surgical debridement of nonviable tissue.However,treatment failure and recurrence are common.Recently,adjunctive therapies such as hyperbaric oxygenation have been widely applied in treatment of osteomyelitis to promote sanative effect on osteomyelitis.In this review,we will outline the rationales and current status of potential adjunctive therapies in osteomyelitis management.

Background Age-related cataract is the leading cause of visual impairment worldwide.To seek the effective prevention and drugs for management of cataract is important.Naphthalene-induced cataract of rat is an ideal animal model for the research of human age-related cataract,and aspirin has been proven to inhibit the development of human age-related cataract.ObjectiveThe present study is to investigate the role of aspirin on naphthalene-induced cataract.Methods Forty-five 150-160 g female SD rats were divided into three groups randomly.Naphthalene was orally taken with 0.5mg/kg per day for 3 days and then 1mg/kg per day for 70 days,and then 100mg/kg of aspirin was given per day for 70 days following four-day washout period in group A.In group B,the animals was given orally only naphthalene at the same way.No any intervention was used in group C.Naphthalene-induced cataract was examined under the slim lamp every week.The experimental animals were sacrificed and lenses were obtained in 70 days.α-Crystalline was extracted from lens homogenate and purified and identified using High Performance Liquid Chromatography(HPLC),2-dimentional electrophoresis gel and Western blot.Different abilities of α-crystalline to protect β low crystalline from aggregation were observed using ultraviolet spectrophotometer.Results Naphthalene-induced cataract formed at the third week in only naphthalene group but at the sixth week in naphthalene+aspirin group under the slim lamp.No significant difference was found in the degree of lenses opacity in the second week among these three groups(F=0.032,P=0.969).However,a statistically significant difference was seen in the degree of lenses opacity in the fourth,sixth,eighth and tenth week among these three groups(F= 5031.130,P=0.000;F=115964.000,P=0.000;F=169846.500,P=0.000;F= 195431.200,P=0.000).Themolecular chaperone-like activity was significantly higher than that of the naphthalene-induced group.Conclusion Aspirin delays the progression of lens opacification through protecting α-crystalline molecular chaperone-like activity.

Objective To prepare nanobubbles and analysis its application for enhanced ultrasound imaging of small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). Methods Nanobubbles were prepared using a thin-film hydration-sonication method. MTT assay was used to evaluate the cytotoxicity of the nanobubbles for SCLC H446 cell line. The contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) of xenografted SCLC tumors in 10 nude mice was performed using nanobubbles and micro-scale microbubbles, and compared with livers. The time-intensity curve (TIC) was obtained using the Gamma variate and the following parameters were calculated, including area under the curve, time to peak, arrival time, peak intensity, and half-peak time. Results Nanobubbles with spherical shape distributed homogeneously, without obvious aggregation, the mean diameters was (392.1 ±48.6) nm and average zeta potential was (-16.8 ±2.9) mV. The MTT results indicated that the nanobubbles had no obvious cytotoxicity toward H446 cell line within the concentrations used for in vivo ultrasound imaging with nanobubbles (5 μg/ml). CEUS with the nanobubbles showed significantly higher peak intensity, and half-peak time [(18.14 ±0.62) s, (141.55 ±8.21) s] in comparison with the micro-scale microbubbles [(14.82 ±0.51) s, (120.43 ±8.73) s] (P= 0.033, 0.040). There was no significant difference in time to arrival, area under the curve and time to peak (all P>0.05). Compared with livers, the nanobubbles in xenografted SCLC tumors showed significantly shorter time to peak, lower peak intensity and area under the curve, and higher half-peak time (all P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in time to arrival (P > 0.05). Conclusion Nanobubbles ultrasound enhanced contrast agent shows good stability and contrast-enhancement effect in vitro, and provides an experimental basis for targeting ultrasound imaging and therapeutics of SCLC.

Analgesics are widely used in fracture patients before and after operation.The analgesics frequently used include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,as well as central nerve and local medications.Recently,researches report that some analgesics may inhibit fracture healing,which has attracted much attention from orthopedic surgeons.However,there are researchers who hold opposite opinions.Accordingly,this paper reviews the progress in research concerning the effect of analgesics on fracture healing.
