AIM: To report a case of wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) treat with multiple transpupillary themotherapy (TTT) and choroidal neovascularization (CNV) disappeared but retinal pigment epithelial(PRE) and choroidal atrophy occurred with a low vision at the end point.METHODS: Clinical data including fundus hotographs, fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA), indocyanine angiography (ICGA) and optical coherence tomography(OCT) was reviewed.RESULTS: A 72-year-old man complained about blurred vision of his left eye and FFA revealed polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) in the macula. His left eye had stable vision of 0.1 for 6 years without any treatment of CNV. About 2 years later, his right eye presented a piece of CNV. During the period of 3 years, the lesion remained more (3×5 PD) and less (1×2PD) in size with remarkable exudates and bleeding, and 7 sessions of TTT were applied with 80-280mW, 2mm of spot, and 60 seconds exposure and with the interval of 3 months or more. The CNV lesion finally disappeared, but there left a white area in the macula and vision decreased from 0.3 to 0.04.CONCLUSION: Although CNV lesion can be eliminated by TTT, obvious atrophy of RPE cells and the choroids can happen and this may not be of help for patient vision. It suggests that the parameters of TTT will be lower than 120 mW/mm and limited less two sessions if applicable, especially for Asia people.

Objective: To investigate the bonding strength of different resin composites .Methods:Methacrylate-based resin APX and silorane-based resin composite P90 were chosen in this study , with their corresponding adhesives Clearfil SE Bond ( SE) and Filtek P90 System Adhesive ( SA) .The speci-mens were divided into three groups:(1) bulk group, filling each block with the same composite , then curing;(2) direct filling group, curing and polishing one composite , then filling a new composite direct-ly;( 3 ) bonding group , after curing and polishing one composite , conditioning the surface with adhe-sives, then filling a new composite.Cut each resin blocks into 1 mm ×1 mm ×14 mm each piece, detec-ting the microtensile strength , and analyzing by One-Way ANOVA and LSD .Results: ( 1 ) The micro-tensile strength of the bulk group was the highest .(2) In direct filling group, the microtensile strength of 4 subgroups showed no statistical significance with each other but lower than that of the bulk group .(3) In bonding group, the microtensile strength of repairing with APX was higher than that with P 90.When repairing with same composite , the microtensile strength was higher if the resin type of substrates was same with restorations than that was different .The microtensile strength of adhesives SE was higher than that of SA.(4) The sorting of the microtensile strength: bulk>SE bonding APX >SA bonding APX>SE bonding P90=direct filling>SA bonding P90.Conclusion:Retention force is higher when substrates are repaired with methacrylate-based resins and corresponding adhesives .Retention force is lower when repaired with silorane-based composites and corresponding adhesives .Types of the substrate composites show no influence on the bonding strength .

Objective: To observe the effect of moxibustion on acupoints Zusanli (ST 36) and Liangmen (ST 31) on cell proliferation and cell apoptosis of gastric mucosa in rats with stress ulcer, investigatethe mechanism of moxibustion in promoting the repair of gastric mucosal injury at cellular and molecular levels. Methods: Sixty healthy Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups: the restraint control group, model group, moxibustion on acupoints group and moxibustion on non-acupoints group. Water immersion and restraint stress (WRS) was used to copy the stress ulcer model of rats, radio-immunoassay was used to detect the content of transforming growth factor (TGF-α), and S-P immunohistochemical assay was adopted to determine the HSP70 expression, the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and cell apoptosis index in gastric mucosa. Results: For the WRS-induced gastric ulcer model of rat,the gastric mucosal injury (gastric ulcer index, UI) was increased, the content of TGF-α was decreased, PCNA was also decreased, HSP70 expression and cell apoptosis index were all increased (P＜0.01). Moxibustion on acupoints Zusanli (ST 36) and Liangrnen (ST 31) could decrease UI, increase the content of TGF-α, promote the expression of PCNA and HSP70,decrease cell apoptosis index in gastric mucosa, with significant differences when compared with the model group and control group (P＜0.01). Conclusions: Moxibustion on acupoints Zusanli (ST 36) and Liangmen (ST 31) had protective effect on the gastric mucosa of stress ulcer, its mechanism may be promoting the TGF-α synthesis, stimulating cell proliferation in gastric mucosa and inhibiting cell apoptosis in gastric mucosa, and this process is related to the moxibustion-induced HSP70 expression.

To investigate the effect of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) on JAK2-STAT3 pathway and the growth of gastric cancer cell lines at different GHR expression status, the eukaryotic expression vector targeting human GHR (pGPU6/GFP/Neo-shGHR and pGPU6/GFP/Neo-scramble) was constructed and transfected into MGC803 cells by Lipofectamine 2000. Stable expressive cell lines were obtained by G418 screening. The expression of GHR was analyzed by Western blotting. After being stimulated with rhGH, cell growth was detected by MTT assay. Cell cycle and apoptosis were examined by flow cytometry. The components of JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway were detected by Western blotting. There is no significant difference of GHR expression between MGC803 and pGPU6/GFP/Neo-scramble-transfected cells (named as MGC803-NC) (P > 0.05). Compared with MGC803, the GHR expression in pGPU6/GFP/Neo-shGHR-transfected cells (named as MGC803-shGHR) decreased significantly (protein decreased 50%). The cells were treated with rhGH at 0, 150 and 300 ng x mL(-1), the growth rate of MGC803 and MGC803-NC increased significantly, PI and the number of G2/M phase cells all increased significantly, and apoptosis decreased significantly. Western blotting revealed that the expression of pJAK2 and pSTAT3 was up-regulated after being treated with rhGH in MGC803 and MGC803-NC cells. In contrast, similar change was not observed in MGC803-shGHR cells. Knockdown of GHR gene may decrease the sensitivity of gastric cancer cells to rhGH, and down-regulating of components of the expression of JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway may be the potential mechanisms.

Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) refers to primary non-traumatic parenchymal hemorrhage.Its mortality and disability are extremely high.A simple and easy clinical grading scale for ICH can not only evaluate the prognosis of patients,but also has an important guiding significance for clinical treatment and clinical research.This article reviews the contents of major intracerebral hemorrhage scales,external validation,advantages and disadvantages,and explains its scope of application and clinical application.

Objective To analyze the effects of self-ligating bracket on enlarging the maxillary alveolar arch and to investigate the the non-extraction treatment programs.Methods All patients were used heat activated basic and precise theory for the orthodontist in order to make a plan fordeveloping nickel-titanium wire,then assessed by occlusalplane analysis method.The maxillary model andcephalometric radiographs were collected and measured before the treatment.The data of the resultswereanalyzed.Results After the treatment,the increase of the width of the dental arch was related to the /FMA,crowding degree and canines initial position.The increase of arch length was related to the ∠ANB,crowding degree,malocclusion classification,canines initial position andthe second molar eruption.Conclusion The essential factors include the crowding degree of arch,∠FMA,∠ANB,the angle of the anterior teeth,malocclusion classification,canines initial position andthe second molar eruptioncan affect the result of non-extraction quick self-ligating bracket appliance treatment on enlarging the maxillary alveolar.
