OBJECTIVE:To observe the clinical efficacy of puerarin combined with β-aescine sodium in the treatment of pa-tients with postoperative edema of hand trauma. METHODS:118 patients with postoperative edema of hand trauma were random-ly divided into observation group (n=59) and control group (n=59) by number. Both groups were taken infrared physiotherapy and appropriate physical treatment such as hand functional exercise;patients in control group was added β-aescine sodium 10 mg based on the physical treatment,iv,once a day;observation group was added puerarin 200 mg based on the treatment of control group,iv,once a day. Both groups were taken 10 days for one course of treatment. Compared the swelling scores,perimeter of suf-fered limb and edema scores,clinical efficacy and adverse reactions of patients between the two groups before and after treatment. RESULTS:The symptoms of hand limb swelling in 2 groups were obviously improved(P<0.01 or P<0.05),however,observa-tion group was better than that of control group,with significant difference(P<0.05);after treatment,the swelling,perimeter of suffered limb and swelling score in observation group were lower than control group,with significant differences(P<0.05);the to-tal effective rate in observation group was 94.91% and control group was 83.05%,with significant difference(P<0.05). No ADR was found in 2 groups. CONCLUSIONS:Puerarin combination with β-aescine sodium has obvious efficacy and safety in the treat-ment of postoperative edema of hand trauma.

Abstract?AIM: To observe the effect of acute angle closure glaucoma with cataract patients treated with glaucoma trabeculectomy combined two incision phacoemulsification and intraocular lens ( IOL ) implantation ( two incision triple surgery) .?METHODS: Patients admitted in our hospital during Jan.2013 to Jan.2016.The acute angle closure glaucoma with cataract patients in 40 cases ( 58 eyes ) were randomly divided into two groups:the observation group of 20 cases ( 29 eyes ) with two incision triple surgery treatment, and the control group of 20 cases ( 29 eyes ) with single incision triple after treatment.Visual acuity, intraocular pressure, bleb, corneal endothelial cell density, the area at 1mo before and after surgery, and postoperative complications of two groups were analyzed.?RESULTS: Postoperative visual acuity of two groups were significantly improved, but there was no significant difference between groups ( P >0.05 ); postoperative intraocular pressure, bleb formation rate of the observation group were 14.41 ±1.38mmHg, 90%, and the control group 14.40 ±1.40mmHg, 86% without statistical significance ( P>0.05 ), corneal endothelial cell density and area of observation group after 1mo were 1696.6±300. 8/mm2 , 540.8±71.6μm2 , and control group 1410.6±288.5/mm2 and 594.3 ±72.8μm2 with significant differences ( P<0.05).The incidence rate of compli-cation was 17%in the observation group, and 21%in control group (P>0.05).?CONCLUSION: For patients with acute angle closure glaucoma and cataract given two incision triple surgery and single incision triple surgery treatment can get good outcomes, but the effect of double incision on corneal endothelial cell injury is less.

Objective To investigate the expression of CXCR7 in gastric carcinoma tissues and the role of CXCR7 in tumor growth, adhesion and invasion of gastric cancer. Methods The expression levels of CXCR7, Survivin, CD44v6 and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-3 were detected by immunnohistochemistry method in gastric cancer specimens came from 160 patients (gastric cancer group) and 30 specimens of normal gastric tissues (control group). Results The expression of CXCR7 protein was significantly higher in gastric cancer group than that of control group (P<0.05). The positive CXCR7 staining was significantly different with tumor size, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis and clinical staging ( P<0.05). CXCR7 expression was positively correlated with Survivin, CD44v6 and MMP-3. Conclusion CXCR7 might take part in progression of gastric cancer by anti-apoptosis (Survivin). CXCR7 might take part in the lymph node metastasis of gastric cancer and mediate the adhesion and invasion by CD44v6 and MMP-3.

Objective To evaluate protective effects of recombinant human thioredoxin(TRX) in myocardial injury of mice with viral myocarditis. Methods We established viral myocarditis models by intraperitoneal injection with 0.1 ml 100TCID50 Coxsackie virus 3m(CVB3m), along with tail vein injection of recombinant human TRX (2 mg/kg) for protection. The control group was given equivalent volume of normal saline. The mice were killed 7 days following the injections. Serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity was determined and myocardial injury was examined with light microscopy. Results The somm LDH activity in Coxsackie virns-infected mice [(3130.50±390.57)U/L] was higher than that of animals in the control group[ (1617.86±155.42)U/L] and that of TRX protection group[ (1959.43±540.75)U/L], the difference being statistically significant (P<0.05); there was no significant difference between TRX protection group and the control group(P 0.05). Light microscopy showed that five of the eight Coxsackie rims-infected mice had myocardial lesions, including focal myocardial necrosis and inflammatory infiltration. There was no myocardial injury in the TRX protection group. Conclusions Recombinant human TRX can lessen myocardial injuries induced by infection with CVB3m, and so can protect myocardium.

Objective To observe the protective function of recombinant human thioredoxin(TRX) on HeLa cell injury induced by Coxsackie virus 3m(CVB3m) and to study the inhibiting effect of TRX on viral replication. Methods We infected HeLa cells with 10TCID50 CVB3m and then protected these cells with TRX (2,5,10 mg/L). The protective group of TRX, viral group, control group of TRX, and normal control group were included. Six parallel wells were set up in each group. The cell growth was observed by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT) and contrast phase microscope. Results The results of contrast phase microscope revealed that HeLa cells were arranged tightly and polygon in normal control group; untightly, became circle and abscission in viral group; HeLa cells morphous improved by increasing TRX concentration in TRX protective group(2,5,10mg/L). MTT results of the inhibitory ratio on cell growth of TRX(2,5,10 mg/L) control group(1.2%,2.9%,6.3%) were compared with normal control group(0), there was no significant difference(all P > 0.05); and while the inhibitory ratio on cell growth of TRX(2,5,10 mg/L) protective group(32.0%,28.0%,27.0%) was compared with virus infective group(51.7%), there was a significant difference (all P < 0.05). The inhibition study of viral replication showed that compared the inhibitory ratio on cell growth of TRX(2,5,10 mg/L) protective group(26.0%,27.0%, 10.9%) with virus infective group(60.0%), there was a significant difference(all P < 0.05). In the protective groups, there was a significant difference (all P < 0.05) between low dose groups(2,5 mg/L) and high dose groups( 10 mg/L). Conclusions The recombinant TRX(2,5,10 mg/L) may alleviate HeLa cell's injury induced by virus and the construct has no significant toxicity. TRX(2,5,10 mg/L) is effective in inhibiting virus CVB3m replication.

Objective To investigate the clinical and molecular pathological features of limb-girdle muscular dystrophy 2A (LGMD2A) of Chinese patients. Methods Thirty cases of LGMD with excluding LGMD2B were included in this study. The muscle specimens were performed by a standard series methods of histochemistry, enzymohistochemistry, immunohistochemistry and Western blot. The clinical and molecular pathological features of LGMD2A were retrospective analyzed. Results Five cases with no or only trace expression of calpain-3 protein were diagnosed as calpainopathy (LGMD2A) by Western blot analysis. The age of onset of these 5 patients ranged from 10 to 45 years and the duration of the disease were about 2-10 years. Proximal muscles weakness and atrophy of lower limbs were predominantly involved. In all patients,symptoms progressed slowly. The ambulation could be retained for many years but running and jumping were impaired early. The serum creatine kinase level was elevated moderately to markedly. Electromyography showed myopathic patterns in all cases. Two siblings had similar symptoms indicating autosomai recessive inherited pattern. Pathologically, there was marked variation in fibre size and most small fibres were round. Some necrotic and regenerating fibers were seen. Fibres with centrally placed nuclei can be found frequently. No infiltrations of inflammatory cells were seen. Lobulated fibers were observed in 2 patients by NADH-TR stain. The expression of dystrophin, caveolin-3, α-, β-, γ- and δ-sarcoglycan protein were normally staining of 5 LGMD2A patients' specimens by immunohistochemistry. Two patients had reduced staining of dysferlin by immunohistochemistry study. Conclusions Clinical and pathological characteristics of our 5 LGMD2A patients are consistent with typical muscular dystrophy features reported in other countries. Identification of calpian-3 deletion by Western blot is essential for the diagnosis of calpainopathy.

Laggera plants are traditionally used as folk medicine to treat bacterial infection, inflammation and fever in China. Three species, Laggera alata, L. intermedia and L. pterodonta, grow in China. Modem clinical studies show that L. pterodonta is a good medicine against inflammation. More than 100 compounds were obtained from these plants. In order to assist in medicinal application of this species of plants, progresses made in this field are systemically reviewed in this article.

Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of minimally invasive treatment of Fraser type Ⅱ floating knee by homeopathic reduction.Methods:From November 2016 to July 2018, 7 patients with Fraser type Ⅱ floating knee were treated by homeopathic reduction and minimally invasive surgery at Trauma Emergency Center, The Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University. They were 5 males and 2 females, aged from 30 to 82 years (average, 52 years). They all suffered from tibial plateau fracture complicated with floating knee, with 5 cases of Fraser type ⅡA (tibial plateau fracture complicated with femoral shaft fracture) and 2 cases of Fraser type ⅡC (tibial plateau fracture complicated with femoral condyle fracture). The femoral and tibial plateau fractures were reduced with a bidirectional traction reduction device, followed by minimally invasive implantation of internal fixators. The operation time, length of a single incision, blood loss and fluoroscopic frequency were recorded. The anteroposterior and lateral X-ray films of the lower limb were taken and fracture healing time was recorded during follow-up. The function of knee joint was evaluated by Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) scoring system at the last follow-up.Results:For the 7 patients, operation time averaged 87.2 min, length of a single incision 2.8 cm, blood loss 471 mL, and fluoroscopy frequency 37 times. The postoperative X-ray films showed fine alignment and force line and smooth articular surface in all patients. All the incisions healed by grade A. The follow-up time for 7 patients ranged from 12 to 21 months (average, 15.6 months). All the fractures healed after an average time of 12.8 weeks. The HSS scores at the last follow-up showed that 6 cases were excellent and one was good.Conclusion:The fractures of the femur side and of the tibia side can be treated separately by closed reduction and internal fixation using a homeopathic bidirectional traction reduction device so as to obtain better knee joint function.

Objective:To investigate the reliability of a tool based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) in the assessment of functioning despite disability.Methods:A total of 371 patients were assessed using a tool based on the ICF rehabilitation set combined with a numerical rating scale ranging from 0 to 10. The internal consistency, inter-rater reliability and intra-rater reliability were analyzed.Results:The scale′s Cronbach′s alpha coefficient was 0.89. The inter-rater correlation coefficient was 0.85, and the correlations among the items ranged from 0.78 to 0.94. The intra-rater correlation coefficient with the scale was 0.95, with the item correlations ranging from 0.72 to 0.97. Only item b230 Hearing function did not correlate well.Conclusions:The functioning assessment tool based on the ICF rehabilitation set when combined with a numerical rating scale has internal consistency, inter-rater reliability and intra-rater reliability sufficient for use in clinical practice.

Background We investigated the possible association of the functional polymorphisms in the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) genes with susceptibility to esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and gastric cardiac adenocarcinoma (GCA). Methods The TNF-α-308G/A and TNF-β+252G/A single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were genotyped using polymerase-chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis, in 555 cancer patients (291 ESCC and 264 GCA) and 437 healthy controls in a high incidence region of North China. Results Among healthy controls, frequencies of the TNF-α 1/1, 1/2 and 2/2 genotypes were 89.4%,9.2% and 1.4% respectively, while frequencies of the TNF-β B1/B1, B1/B2 and B2/B2 genotypes were 12.6%,32.3% and 55.1%, respectively. No significant difference was found in the overall genotype and allelotype distribution of the TNF-α-308G/A and TNF-β+252G/A SNPs among cancer patients and controls. However, both the B1/B1 genotype and B1/B2 genotype significantly increased the risk of developing ESCC [the age and gender adjusted odds ratio (OR)=2.04 and 1.91, 95% confidence interval (CI)=1.04-4.43 and 1.14-2.60, respectively] and GCA (the age and gender adjusted OR=2.68 and 2.64, 95% CI=1.14-6.29 and 1.47-4.72, respectively) in individuals with negative family history of UGIC, in comparison with the B2/B2 genotype. When the two TNF polymorphisms were combined and analyzed, individuals with the TNF-β B1/B2 and TNF-α1/2 or 2/2 genotypes significantly reduced the risk of developing ESCC and GCA, in comparison with those harboring the TNF-β B2/B2 and TNF-α 1/1 genotypes (the age and gender adjusted OR=0.37 and 0.34, 95% CI=0.15-0.92 and 0.13-0.90, respectively).Conclusions Therefore, the TNF-α-308G/A and TNF-β+252G/A genotyping may be used as a stratification markers to predicate the risk of ESCC and GCA development in North China.
