OBJECTIVE To study the influence of various packing methods and controlling method toward the hidden wet pack after steam sterilization to ensure the sterilization quality and hygiene safety.METHODS The medical equipment was packed with three types of methods, then unloaded from the steam autoclave after being cooled at different time to observe their heating speed respectively. To choose two types of cotton fabric packaging methods, prolong the heating time, and cool in the steam autoclave for 30 minutes, then observe the heating speed of the inside pack and the dry qualification status after 12 hours respectively.RESULTS The heating speed was the fastest with the medical crinkly paper method;the heating speed of the inside pack didn't have any improvement after prolonging the heating time;the dry qualification rate had distinct difference between the two types of cotton fabric methods after 12 hours(P

Objective To explore the protective efficacy of antioxidants (vitamin E and Ginkgo biloba extract) on the peripheral nerve damages induced by antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). Methods Adult (2-month old) and infant SD rats (7-day old) were respectively treated with AEDs (phenytoin,or phenobarbital,or clonazepam) alone,or simultaneously with vitamin E or Ginkgo biloba extract for 4 weeks. All the rats were sacrificed, sciatic nerves and serum were collected. The sciatic nerves were analyzed by histologically for their pathological changes, and serum and homogenate of sciatic nerves were investigated for their total antioxidative capacity and antioxidant enzyme activity. Results Incidence of pathological abnormalities of teased fibers significantly reduced in all rats treated with AEDs and antioxidants (P

Object To investigate the effect of total flavone in Sanguis Draconis (tFSD) on platelet aggregation, thrombus formation and myocardial ischemia in rat and rabbit. Methods Adopting the experimental models including in vitro platelet aggregation in rat and rabbit, in vivo thrombus formation in rat internal vein, and acute myocardial ischemia by ligating the coronary artery. Results In vitro, tFSD could, to a certain degree, inhibit the platelet aggregation induced by ADP and PAF. Moreover, tFSD could markedly restrain artificial thrombus formation in rat internal vein and the area of acute myocardial ischemia after ligating the coronary artery. Conclusion tFSD has the function of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, anti thrombosis, together with platelet aggregation inhibition.

Objective To explore the clinical usage of allograft vessels for portal venous reconstruction during radical resection for pancreatic cancer. Methods We retrospectively analyzed clinical data of 14 patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy with vascular resection (PDVR) and reconstruction by allograft vascular form June 2009 to May 2013.Results Patient's mean age was (59.1 ±10.4) years old.The mean diameter of tumors was (3.9 ± 1.3) cm,mean lcngth of resected vessels was (4.4 ±0.5)cm,and the R0 resection rate was 71.4%.The implanted vessels in 4 cases were allograft portal veins, and in the other 10 cases were allograft iliac arteries. In morphological classification,9 cases used straight vessels and 5 cases used Y shaped vessels. The overall median survival time of the group was (14.0 ± 3.0) months. The 1,2 year' s survival rate was 52.0% and 40.0%,respectively.Conclusions Allograft vessels for portal venous reconstruction during PDVR have biological and structural advantages.

AlM: To investigate the effect of endocapsular phacoemulsification cataract extraction and intraocular lens (lOL) implantation with a 1. 8mm or 3. 0mm clear corneal incision on total root mean square ( RMS ) value of the cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film.
METHODS:ln a prospective study, 156 age- related patients ( 196 eyes ) were randomly distributed into two groups. 1. 8mm-group comprised 94 eyes that had a silicone lOL inserted through a 1. 8mm sutureless clear corneal incision, while, 3. 0mm- group comprised 102 eyes through a 3. 0mm clear corneal incision. Postoperatively, the changes in the total RMS value of the cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film at 1wk, 1 and 3mo were determined respectively.
RESULTS:ln both groups, postoperatively at 1wk,there were statistically significant differences ( P<0. 05 ) in the total RMS value of the cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film, while, there were statistically minimal differences ( P< 0. 05 ) between 1. 8mm-group and 3. 0mm-group at 1mo, but were not statistically significantly different ( P > 0. 05 ) between two groups at 3mo postoperative.
CONCLUSlON:This study confirms that incision size has strong impact on the corneal higher-order aberrations, especially, 3. 0mm incision caused significant differences in the total RMS value of cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film compared with 1. 8mm micro-incision, therefore, micro-incision is very beneficial for clinical use in phacoemulsification.

Objective To investigate the pathological features of sural nerve biopsy in patients with motor neuron disease (MND). Methods 22 patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) underwent sural nerve biopsy and routine electrophysiological examination. The transected images were captured and morphometrically analyzed. Results The myelinated fiber density decreased in ALS patients' sural nerves, and larger fibers were involved mostly. The thinly myelinated fibers increased. Conclusion The sural nerves of ALS patients shows mild but definite pathological changes.

To investigate the clinicopathological features of endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma(EEA)with adnexal involvement. Methods The clinicopathological data of 86 EEA patients who underwent surgical treatment at our center from January 2000 to December 2015 were analyzed retrospectively. The clinicopathological features were compared between patients with occult adnexal involvement and those with gross adnexal involvement. Results A total of 86 EEA patients with adnexal involvement(mean age:58.1 years)were included in this study, accounting for 5.4%(86/1592)of the EEA patients during the same period.Among these 86 patients, there were 13 premenopausal patients(15.1%)including 2 premenopausal patients aged under 40 years.Gross adnexal involvement was found in 47 patients(54.7%),while occult adnexal involvement was found in 39 patients(45.3%)in pathology evaluation.Ovarian metastasis was found in 34 patients(39.5%),followed by both ovarian and tubal metastasis in 19 patients(22.1%)and tubal metastasis in 33 patients(38.4%).The expressionss of estrogen receptor(χ=8.086,P=0.042)and progesterone receptor(PR)(χ=9.149,P=0.026)were significantly different between gross adnexal involvement group and occult adnexal involvement group, whereas no significant difference was found in other clinicopathological features(all P>0.05).The non-conditional Logistic regression analysis showed that, compared with PR no-expression group, the rate of occult microscopic adnexal involvement in PR low-expression group was 6.375 times of that of the gross adnexal involvement(P=0.005,95%CI:1.768-22.976),and the rate of occult microscopic adnexal involvement in the PR high-expression group was 3.719 times of that of gross adnexal involvement(P=0.048,95%CI:1.009-13.702). Conclusion PR expression level is remarkably lower in EEA patients with gross adnexal involvement than those with occult adenxal involvement.
