Objective To investigate the construction of PICC catheterization nurses in Shandong province. Methods A total of 235 hospitals were investigated from PICC maintenance network in Shandong province with self-designed questionnaire through internet survey. Results 179 hospitals established intravenous (IV) nurse team(76.17%). 86.92%(93/107) of the tertiary hospitals established Ⅳ nurse team, which was higher than 67.19% (86/128) of the secondary hospitals, the difference was statistically significant(χ2=12.50,P<0.01). There were 1335 trained and certificated nurses while 1382 nurses engaging in PICC catheterization, and there were more PICC catheterization nurses in tertiary hospitals than secondary hospitals, the difference was statistically significant(t=7.23,P<0.01). 22.98%(54/235) of the hospitals had more PICC catheterization nurses than trained and certificated nurses, 11.49%(27/235) of the hospitals had more trained and certificated nurses than PICC catheterization nurses. 7.81%(108/1382) of the PICC catheterization nurses worked full-time and 31.91%(441/1382) had a manager position. 51.06% (120/235) of the hospitals had set up clear selection criteria for PICC catheterization nurses, mainly focusing on education background, professional tittle and (or) work experience. Organization in PICC training was diversified, giving priority to nursing association in provinceand nursing association in city. PICC catheterization nurses in only 20.43% (48/235) of the hospitals would accept training annually, 31.49%(74/235) of the hospitals would re-certificate PICC nurses. Conclusion PICC nurse team has been preliminarily established in Shandong province, but nursing staff deployment was unevenness, and primary hospitals should be further reinforced. The position role of PICC nurses should be further clarified. The selection criteria of PICC nurses should be further standardized. And the training space of PICC nurses should be further promoted.

Objective:To investigate the role of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2(ERK1/2)signal pathway in the pathogenesis of stress-induced gastric ulcer. Methods:Animal model of stress-induced gastric ulcer was established in rats with water-immersion restraint(WIR)stress. The mucosal activation of ERK1/2 was observed before and 5,15 and 30 min,and 1, 2 and 3.5 h after WIR stress. Some animals were also treated with an intravenous injection of PD98059(1 mg/kg),a specific ERK1/2 inhibitor,1 h prior to WIR stress.Expression of total ERK1/2 and caspase-3 were detected by Western blot analysis; ERK1/2 activity was measured by kinase activity assay using myelin basic protein as a specific substrate.DNA-binding activities of the transcription factors activator protein-1(AP-1)and nuclear factor-?B(NF-?B)were determined by electrophoretic mobility shift assays(EMSA).Mucosal TNF-?and IL-1?mRNA expression was analyzed by Northern blot analysis. The degrees of the gastric mucosal lesions were expressed as ulcer index(UI)and pathological evaluation.Apoptosis in the gastric mucosa was examined by an in situ TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling(TUNEL)method. Results:Activated ERK1/2 was very weakly expressed in the gastric mucosa of normal rats.ERK1/2 was rapidly activated in the gastric mucosa of rats 15 min after WIR stress and the activity reached the maximal after 3.5 h.Pretreatment with PD98059 significantly inhibited ERK1/2 activation, decreased AP-1 and NF-?B activities and TNF-?and IL-1?mRNA expression, and obviously relieved gastric mucosal lesions, accompanied by caspase-3 activation and increased apoptosis. Conclusion:The present results indicate that ERK1/2 activation plays an important role in the development of stress-induced gastric ulcer.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility and safety of radioactive pancreatic duct stents implanted in the pancreatic ducts of pigs by endoscopy. Methods Different doses of 125I radioactive pancreatic duct stents were implanted in the pancreatic ducts of pigs by endoscopy. Blood tests were conducted before and after implantation. 14,30 and 60 days after implantation of the radioactive stents, the pigs were euthanized in batch. All animals underwent post modem examination to exclude intra-abdominal hemorrhage, pancreatic fistula or peritonitis. During autopsy, the liver, bile ducts, head of the pancreas, stomach and duodenum were examined for perforation, stricture or dilation and damage of the surrounding structures. Results Fourteen pigs were implanted with pancreatic duct stents by endoscopic procedures. There was no effusion, hemorrhage or necrosis in the adjacent duodenum, stomach, liver or right kidney. The noral morphological structures of the duct of Wirsung disappeared in all the treated pigs.Histopathological examination revealed that the stents were surrounded by necrotic tissue and outside fibrous tissue. During the follow-up period, the width of outside fibrous tissue gradually increased. There were no serious abnormalities noted in the blood tests after implantation. Conclusion It is indicated that the radioactive stents are safe in all the difierent dose groups. For future clinical application, it is feasible to design a special radioactive stent for each patient according to the size, shape and position of the pancreatic tumor.
