The relationship of the nose tip position and the skull figures which were measured from the lateral craniographs in 49 ladies of 17～19 age living in Shenyang was studied. The figures measured on craniographs were analyzed by multiple stepwise regression analysis on IBM-PC/XT computer, and the regressoin equations for estimating the nose tip position of female in Shenyang were obtained. Cases in which the errors were within 2 mm were 71.43 to 77. 55 percent.

Nomegestrol acetate, 19-norprogesterone de ri vatives, has been used for oral contraception. Recently, studies showed that nom egestrol was a selective estrogen enzyme modulator (SEEM). Nomegestrol is capabl e of inhibiting estrone sulfatase and 17-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (17 beta-HSD) and increasing the activity of sulfotransferase,which will provide a new option in the treatment of breast cancer. In addition, nomegestrol has stro ng reversal effects on multidrug resistance in breast cancer cells. In vitro, nomegestrol also exhibits as an inhibitor on endometrial proliferation in uter us. These advances will be introduced in the present review.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the zinc and copper concentration and the clinical outcomes of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer(ivf-et).Methods The clinical data and zinc and copper concentration of serum on the days with human Chorionic gonadotropin(hCG) injection as well as that in the follicular fluid on the the day of oocyte retrieval were retrospectively analyzed in 43 cases with IVF-ET cycles.Results Application of pearson correlation analysis showed that copper concentration in follicular fluid of the 43 cases was positively correlated with the numbers of retrieved oocytes,fertilized oocytes and cleaved embryos( r were 0.392,0.327 and 0.321,respectively,P were 0.0094,0.0325 and 0.0361 respectively ) Between the pregnant group and non-pregnant group,the zinc and copper concentration in follicular fluid was not significantly different ( P ＞ 0.05 ) ; the serum estradiol ( E2 ) on the day of hCG administration was of significantly different(t =2.177,P =0.0353 );the serum zinc concentration on the day of hCG administration was of significantly different ( t =2.153,P =0.0372).Conclusion Trace elements zinc and copper might play an important role in the process of IVF-ET.

Objective To explore the protective mechanism of tea polyphenols (TPs) ion oxidative stress damage of the rat articular cartilage tissue caused by brick-tea fluorosis. Methods One hundred and twenty wistar male rats were randomly divided into 6 groups according to body mass: fluoride group with drinking water containing 100.00 mg/L F-, fluoride plus TPs group treated with 100.00 mg/L F- and 10.0 g/L TPs, fluoride plus aluminum group fed with 100.00 mg/L F- and 200.00 mg/L Al3+, fluoride plus aluminium and TPs group treated with 100.00 mg/L F-,200.O0 mg/L Al3+ and 10.0 g/L TPs;brick-tea group treated with drinking water containing 100.00 mg/L F-,215.00 mg/L Al3+ and 9.2 g/L TPs, which was steeped by the brick-tea;control group treated with tap water. The animals were bred for three months and then sacrificed. The level of SOD,T-AOC and MDA in blood serum were detected,also the level of NO and cytokine IL-1β and IL-6, the expression of iNOS mRNA and protein in articular cartilage were respectively analyzed by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry. Results Blood serum SOD level in the fluoride plus aluminum and TPs group[(664.009 ± 29.589)kU/L] was higher compared with that in the fluoride group[(625.328 ± 27.199)kU/L], fluoride plus aluminum group[(652.282±13.926)kU/L], although no statistically significant differences was found(P > 0.05) ;blood serum T-AOC level of the fluoride plus TPs, fluoride plus aluminum and TPs group, brick tea group[(10.874 ± 0.721), (11.871 ± 0.941), (10.380 ± 2.747)kU/L] was higher compared with fluoride group, fluoride plus aluminum group [(8.849 ± 1.887), (8.210 ± 1.740)kU/L], the differences all being statistically significant(P < 0.05) ;blood serum MDA level in the fluoride plus aluminum and TPs group[(3.235 ± 0.446)μmol/L] had significances compared with fluoride group, fluoride plus aluminum group [(3.889 ± 0.387), (4.580 ± 0.474)μmol/L, all P < 0.05)];blood serum NO level in fluoride plus Tps group, fluoride plus aluminum and TPs group, brick-tea group[(23.278 ± 2.386), (20.643 ± 2.623), (24.367 ± 6.072) μmol/L] had tatistical differences compared with fluoride group, fluoride plus aluminum group[(32.962 ± 8.268), (34.909 ± 6.288)μmol/L, all P < 0.05];blood serum IL-1β level of fluoride group, fluoride plus aluminum, fluoride plus Tps, fluoride plus aluminum and TPs group and brick-tea group [(4.728 ± 0.297), (4.412 ± 0.229), (4.432 ± 0.285), (4.516 ± 0.351), (4.614 ±0.2270)n/L] did not have inter-group differences (F = 2.314,P > 0.05);the blood serum IL-6 level of fluoride plus aluminum and TPs group, brick-tea group[(7.231 ± 0.596), (7.325 ± 0.290)ng/L] had statistical differences compared with fluoride plus aluminum[(8.256 ± 0.635)ng/L, P < 0.05]. The iNOS mRNA correspondent expression content of fluoride plus Tps group, fluoride plus aluminum and TPs group, brick-tea group(0.482 ± 0.021,0.447±0.021,0.491 ± 0.022) had statistical differences compared with fluoride group, fluoride plus aluminum group (0.562 ± 0.025,0.591 ± 0.020, all P < 0.05). Cells with positive iNOS protein expression of control group were mainly distributed at the surface layer of joint, while the cells of experiment groups were distributed both at the surface layer and the intermediate layer. Conclusions Tea polyphenols could alleviate oxidative stress damage on the articular cartilage, exerting protection against brick-tea fluorosis on rats through cleaning up free radicals, elevating total anti-oxidation capability, diminishing the generation of lipid peroxide.

B cell maturation antigen (BCMA) is a receptor of B lymphocyte stimulator (BLyS). Human IgG1Fc fusion proteins with the extracellular domain of BCMA(eBCMA), also called decoy receptors, have beenused as a potential BLyS antagonists to block BLyS activities. In order to design novel BLyS antagonistpeptides, computer-aided homologue modeling was used to construct an eBCMA-Fc fusion protein based on thecrystal structures of BCMA and Fc fragmant. To ensure the activity of eBCMA not to be interfered by Fcfusion, the root mean square distance (RMSD) for eBCMA and Fc were calculated to be 0.036 nm and 0.064nm, respectively, based on molecular docking modeling. An eBCMA-Fc fusion gene was constructed andintroduced into E. coli for expression. As expected, the purified 36 kD eBCMA-Fc fusion protein was able tobind BLyS in vitro at a dosage-dependent manner and demonstrated an anti-proliferative activity induced byBLyS in Daudi cells. The results have provided useful information on the evaluation of computer modeling andthe in vitro biological activity for the design of potential BLyS antagonist peptides.

Objective To explore the feasibility of the double venipuncture instead of central venous catheter as a temporary vascular access in hemodialysis.Methods The upper arm below the 1/3 was tied a tourniquet,and fistula needle directly punctured the vein in the middle of the elbow.After the success of the puncture,elastic bandage was replaced by a tourniquet,and the ball movement was done by imitating the blood donation member for blood donation at hand gripping a ball or elements as the artery blood lead.Another elbow vein or lower limb saphenous vein was punctured.Thirty patients using double venipuncture dialysis or central venous catheter dialysis 2 weeks or more were randomly selected into each group,and biochemical and renal function was measured before dialysis.Results All of 1 282 patients who were newly into the blood dialysis,mature arteriovenous fistula was in 8 patients (0.6％,8/1 282),deep venipuncture to insert the central venous catheter was in 542 patients(42.3％,542/1 282),using the double venipuncture was in 732 patients (57.1％,732/1 282).The flow of blood was 180-200 ml/min,the avalible time was 1-2 months.The serum creatinine,blood urea nitrogen,calcium,phosphorus and carbon dioxide combining power had no significant difference between two groups (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions The majority of patients with double venipuncture blood flow can satisfy the need of dialysis.Because the operation is simple,no recycling and may reduce the deep venipuncture,it is an ideal temporary vascular access.

Objective To observe the expression of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) 2,4 and 9 in lesions of lupus vulgaris and tuberculosis verrucosa cutis,and to evaluate the possible roles of these receptors in the pathogenesis of cutaneous tuberculosis.Methods Skin specimens were obtained from the lesions of 18 patients with clinically and pathologically diagnosed lupus vulgaris or tuberculosis verrucosa cutis,15 patients with plaque-type psoriasis (positive control),and from perilesional normal skin of 10 patients with pigmented nevi (negative control).Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of TLRs 2,4 and 9 in these specimens,and the expression intensity was expressed as absorbence values.Data were analysed by using the SPSS 13.0 software,and t test was conducted to assess the differences between the three groups of specimens.Results TLR-2 was observed mainly in the middle and upper layer of epidermis in lesions of cutaneous tuberculosis and psoriasis,and in the whole epidermis except the basal layer in normal skin,with no significant difference in the expression intensity between the three groups of specimens (0.25 ± 0.04 vs.0.25 ± 0.05 vs.0.28 ± 0.03,P ＞ 0.05).TLR-4 was weakly expressed in cutaneous tuberculosis lesions,absent or slightly expressed in normal skin and psoriatic lesions,and the expression level of TLR-4 was significantly higher in cutaneous tuberculosis lesions than in normal skin and psoriatic lesions (0.16 ± 0.07 vs.0.07 ± 0.09 and 0.02± 0.05,t =2.58,6.24,P ＜ 0.01 and 0.05).TLR-9 was expressed in the whole epidermal layer,including appendages and vascular walls,of cutaneous tuberculosis and normal skin,with a significant increase in cutaneous tuberculosis than in the normal skin (0.25 ± 0.05 vs.0.19 ± 0.05,t =2.88,P＜ 0.05).Conclusions TLRs 2,4 and 9 are all expressed in cutaneous tuberculosis losious,and the expression intensity of TLR-4 and TLR-9 is higher in cutaneous tuberculosis lesions than in normal skin,hinting that TLR-4 and TLR-9 play a certain role in the immune response of cutaneous tuberculosis.

ObjectiveTo determine the diversity of outer membrane protein expression of Leptospira interrogans during infection of human THP-1 monocytes,and protein antigen candidates for developing leptospiral genetically engineering vaccines.MethodsThe outer membrane proteins(OMPs) of Leptospira interrogans serogroup Icterohaemorrhagiae serovar Lai strain Lai before or after infection of human THP-1 monocyte line were extracted using Triton X-114 method.The OMPs extracts were separated by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis(2-DGE) and then detected using silver staining method.Four up-regulated and four down-regulated OMPs were selected for hydrolysis by trypsin and then identified by using liquid chromatography-tandem mass(LC-MS/MS) method.The transmembrane regions and signal peptides in the eight target OMPs were analyzed using bioinformatic software.Several real-time fluorescent quantitative RT-PCRs were performed to determine the mRNA level changes of the eight target genes of L.interrogans strain Lai before or after infection of THP-1 cells.The prokaryotic expression systems of target genes were generated and the immunoprutection of target recombinant proteins was determined using leptospire-infected guinea pigs model.ResultsAfter a 60 min infection of THP-1 cells,four OMPs( Loa22,GroEL,F0F1 ATP synthase alpha- and beta-subunits) of L interrogans strain Lai were noticeably up-regulated ( P＜0.05 ),while the other four OMPs( FlaB2,LigB,OmpA family protein and OmpA) were significantly down-regulated (P＜0.05).The results of real-time fluorescent quantitative RT-PCRs were coincident with those confirmed by the 2-DGE phus silver staining.The bioinformatic analysis indicated that among the eight OMPs,OmpA and OmpA family protein belonged transmembrane proteins,while the rest had no membrane structure.Loa22,LigB and OmpA family protein contained a signal peptide in their sequences.200 μg of the recombinant proteins rLoa22 and rGroEL presented 75.0％ immunoprotective rates in the infected guinea pigs.Conclusion An obvious change of the OMP expression map of L.interrogans strain Lai occurs during infection of host cells.The up-regulated leptospiral OM Ps during infection,especially for the GroEL and Loa22 proteins,can be used as the immunogen candidates for developing leptospiral genetically engineering vaccines.

To explore the relationship between thyroid autoantibodies and thyroid function in school children aged 8-10 years,adults,pregnant women,and lactating women in China,in order to provide reference for the prevention and monitoring of thyroid disease.Healthy 8-10 years old school children (693 cases),adults (698 cases),pregnant women(325 cases),and lactating women(332 cases) from six iodine sufficient areas were enrolled.Serum TSH,FT4,and FT3 were determined by chemiluminescent immunoassay,while antithyroid antibody by radioimmunoassay.The positive rate of thyroid autoantibodies in females was significantly higher than that in the male (5.6％ vs 2.0％ in school children,and 22.8％ vs 3.2％ in adults) ; while positive rate of autoantibodies in pregnant and lactating women (8.9％,8.7％) were significantly lower than that in the other healthy adult women (22.8％).The incidence of abnormal thyroid function in antibody-positive people was higher than that in negative ones in all groups,and abnormal thyroid function showed mainly as subclinical hypothyroidism.In addition,lactating women with negative autoantibodies presented a higher incidence of abnormal thyroid function,mainly as low FT4.The abnormal thyroid function is related with the positive thyroid autoantibodies,indicating that it is essential to follow-up these people with positive antibodies in order to facilitate prevention,early diagnosis,and treatment of thyroid disease.Reference data for thyroid hormones in lactating women should be establisbed as soon as possible.
