Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of intratracheal injection of pulmonary surfactant (LISA) combined with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) on the treatment of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). Methods The databases of PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Database, Weipu Database and China Biology Medicine disc (CBM) were searched, and all of the randomized controlled trial of LISA combined with CPAP for treatment of RDS were included. RevMan 5.2 was used to perform meta-analysis. The differences of mortality, bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), and other complications between LISA group and control group were compared in <34 weeks gestational age preterm infants with RDS. Results Five randomized controlled trials were included with 759 infants in total. Compared with control group, the rate of mechanical ventilation (RR: 0.32,95% CI: 0.13-0.82) and the incidence of BPD (RR: 0.61,95%CI: 0.42-0.88) were significantly decreased in LISA group. There were no differences in mortality and the incidences of ROP, IVH, and PVL between two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The mechanical ventilation and the incidence of BPD is significantly reduced in the treatment of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome by LISA, but it has no effect on the incidences of other complications and mortality.

Multi-component traditional Chinese medicines are an innovative research mode for traditional Chinese medicines. Currently, there are many design methods for developing multi-component traditional Chinese medicines, but their common feature is the lack of effective connection of the traditional Chinese medicine theory. In this paper, the authors discussed the multi-component traditional Chinese medicine design methods based on medicinal property combination modes, provided the combination methods with the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine for the prescription combinations, and proved its feasibly with hypertension cases.

Objective:
To investigate the clinicopathological features, treatment and prognosis of duodenal-type follicular lymphoma.
Methods:
Four cases of duodenal-type follicular lymphoma diagnosed at Guangdong General Hospital from 2014 to 2015 with detailed clinical data were included. The histomorphology, immunophenotype, treatment and prognoses were analyzed.
Results:
The patients′ age ranged from 51 to 57 years (mean 54 years), and there were 2 males and 2 females. The involved sites were gastric fundus in one case, second portion of the duodenum in two cases and terminal ileum in one case. All patients presented with multiple mucosal granules or nodules at endoscopy. Microscopically, there were multiple mucosal neoplastic follicles, constituting grade 1-2 disease based on nodal follicular lymphoma grading system. The tumor cells were positive for CD20, CD10, bcl-6 and bcl-2. CD21 highlighted the follicular dendritic meshwork mainly at the periphery of the follicles. Proliferation index was low. Three patients received rituximab monotherapy for 4 cycles, leading to complete remission. One patient refused therapy and the disease progressed to systemic lymphoma 15 months after the initial diagnosis.
Conclusions
Duodenal-type follicular lymphoma is a special variant of follicular lymphoma with indolent clinical course. The tumor exhibits morphology of low grade follicular lymphoma with characteristic dendritic meshwork at the periphery of the follicles and a low proliferation index. Prognosis is excellent. Rituximab monotherapy is treatment of choice, but a small minority of patients may progress to systemic disease.

BackgroundHuman retinal gliocytes play an important role in proliferative diseases, which are the basis of in vitro studies.Researchers have cultured human retinal gliocytes in the past.In our study,we found that the cells we cultured presented a unique shape different from those by other researchers.ObjectiveThis study was to design to produce a new culture and purification method for retinal gliocyte in vitro. Methods Retinal tissue was isolated from human eyeballs and digested using the two-step digestion method (2% pancreatin and 0.133%collagenase Ⅵ) to harvest the retinal glio cytes. The cells were collected and cultured in endothelial cell-targeted nutrient culture containing 10% fetal calf serum and supplemented with β-endothelial cell growth factor (ECGF) and sodium heparin, and the culture dishes were coated with fibronectin(FN) to promote the attachment of retinal gliocyte.During the culturing process, the gliocytes were identified by the observation of morphological characteristic and regular histological examination. The identification of the cells also was performed by immunochemistry targeting glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP),Vimentin, neuron specific enolase ( NSE ),S-100,CD34,and Ⅷ factor. Results Retinal gliocytes were isolated successfully from the human retina by the two-step digestion method.Primary cultured cells attached after 72 hours and achieved confluency between day 9 and 10 that were aligned petaliform in shape.Regular histological examination after H&E staining showed blue cell nuclei and light red cytoplasm. The target cells presented with strong responses for GFAP and Vimentin and no response for NSE,S-100,CD34 and Ⅷ factor.ConclusionsLarge amount of purified human retinal gliocytes can be obtained by two-step digestion and cultured in endothelial cells-targeted culture medium supplemented with β-ECGF and sodium heparin in plates coated with FN.The cultured cells expressed markers for retinal gliocytes. However, specific features of these cells remain to be further elucidated.

AIMTo investigate the action and mechanism of Syn-1A in reversing the activation of K(ATP) channel induced by weak acidic pH.
METHODSThe patches excised from Kir6.2/SUR2A expressing HEK-293 cells were used to establish inside-out configuration. To examine the actions of weak acidic pH in activation of the channel and the reverse action of Syn-1A on it, the inside-out patches were continuously perfused with the solution of pH from 7.4, 7.0, 6.8, 6.5 to 6.0 with or without Syn-1A. In vitro binding was employed to study the influence of different pH to the binding of Syn-1A to SUR2A subunit.
RESULTSSyn-1A blocked pH 6.5, 6.8 and 7.0 induced activation of the channel, and Syn-1A binding to SUR2A were increased by reducing pH from 7.4 to 6.0.
CONCLUSIONSyn-1A would assert some inhibition of the KATP channels, which might temper the fluctuation of acidic pH-induced K(ATP) channel opening that could induce fatal re-entrant arrhythmias.

Objective To investigate the iodine nutritional level and thyroid function of pregnant and lactating women in rural areas of Jilin province. Methods The investigation sites were selected from rural areas of three towns (Baoshan, Mingcheng and Yantongshan of Panshi county, Jilin province) in 2009. The pregnant and lactating women were selected as subjects in these three towns. The blood samples were collected and the thyroid function (including serum TT3, TT4, FT3, FT4) were measured with chemiluminescence, and serum thyroglobulin antibodies(TgAb), thyromicrosome antibody(TMAb), and thyroglobulin(Tg) were measured with radioimmunoassay (RIA). The urine samples were collected three times within one month and were measured for iodine concentration by As-Ce catalytic spectrophotometry method. Results In the pregnant women, serum TT3 was higher than that of healthy pregnant women, accounted for 14.3%(8/56), while serum TT4, TT3, FT4 were lower than those of healthy pregnant women, accounted for 3.6%(2/56),5.4% (3/56), and 1.8%(1/56), respectively. In the lactating women, serum TT3 was higher than that of healthy lactating women, accounted for 3.6%(2/56), while serum TT4, FT4 were lower than those of healthy lactating women, accounted for 1.8%(1/56), respectively. Five per cent to 20% of the pregnant and lactating women had higher TgAb and TMAb. Conclusions Existing salt iodine level is appropriate for pregnant women and lactating women, but there was a tendency towards hypothyroid in some women. Routine monitoring of urinary iodine and thyroid function should be carried out among pregnant and lactating women.
