BACKGROUND:Repair of large-area burns and severe post-traumatic skin defects has always been urgent clinical breakthrough technology bottleneck. With the development of tissue engineering, epidermal stem cel s are increasingly being used in tissue engineering, cel replacement therapy and genetic engineering. Therefore, the isolation and identification of epidermal stem cel s is becoming the research focus of concern.
OBJECTIVE:To review the research progress in biological markers of epidermal stem cel s.
METHODS:The Chinese Biomedical Literature database, CNKI database, China Academic Journals Ful-text database, PubMed database and EMbase database were retrieved for articles about specific markers of epidermal stem cel s using the keywords of“epidermal stem cel s, integrin, keratin, P63, CD71, telomerase, ACE, cx43, hoechst”in Chinese and English. Older theoretical perspectives and repetitive research were excluded.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Final y, only 40 articles were included in result analysis. Epidermal stem cel s bring a new source for skin tissue repair. Epidermal stem cel s distribute in the fol icle eminence and basal layer of the epidermis. About 4%cel s in the basal layer, however, are stem cel s. Therefore, it is critical to correctly isolate, culture and identify skin stem cel s. As a reason, specific markers of epidermal stem cel s become a hotspot. Currently, a great progress in the biological markers of epidermal stem cel s has been made, but there is stil no absolute and proven marker for epidermal stem cel s. Most studies are focusing on integrin, keratin, P63, CD71, connexin 43, and telomerase. In addition, hoechst, CD90, CD98, CD200 have been reported recently. Each marker has its own shortcomings, and there are stil many problems that need to be solved.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of systemic fungal infection in patients at auto-psy and its association with clinical data. Methods The materials from unselected adult patients were exa-mined at necropsy in our hospital from1971to2000,and the fungal species were identified by their mor-phologies in pathology. The clinical and pathological data were compared. Results The rate of fungal infec-tion was7.8%(31/396)among396cases.Seventeen(54.8%)of the31cases were infected with as-pergillus.The frequencies of organs involved with fungal infection were83.87%in lungs,48.39%in kid-neys,35.48%in brain and29.03%in heart, respectively. The fungal infection attributed directly to death in21cases.Conclusion Systemic fungal infection is one of the most common fatal causes among the critically ill patients, and aspergillosis becomes a major pathogenic fungus for patients with systemic fungal infection at autopsy.

Objective To evaluate the value of dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI)in the assessment of cervical cancer with different features. Methods A cohort study of 1 56 cervical cancer patients underwent routine MRI and DCE-MRI scanning on 3.0T MR unit. The semi-quantitative parameters from time-signal curve of DCE-MRI were divided into the following groups:1 ) squamous carcinoma and adenocarcinoma.2)different pathologic grades of cervical cancer (G1,G2,G3).3)early stage (FIGOⅠb/Ⅱa)tumor and advanced tumor (FIGOⅡb,Ⅲ and Ⅳ).4)cervical cancer with different lymph node status (no/yes).5)cervical cancer with dif-ferent tumor size (greatest diameter <2 cm,2-4 cm,>4 cm).6)cervical cancer with different age range.Statistical analysis was performed with the data analysis program SPSS and R3.1.1.Results There was a statistically significant difference between the squamous carcinoma and adenocarcinoma in the SI30s% and Slope,as well as between the tumor FIGO early and advanced stage in TTP and Slope. There was no significant difference among other groups. Conclusion The semi-quantitative parameters from time-signal curve of DCE-MRI can be used to differentiate histologic type and FIGO early/advanced stage of cervical cancer. The diagnostic accuracy may be high for Slope for histologic type differentiation, and the diagnostic accuracy is equal for TTP and Slope in differenti-ation of FIGO early and advanced stage of cervical cancer.

Objective To investigate the difference of retinal nerve fiber layer thickness(RNFL)in opti-cal coherence tomography(OCT)under low and moderate signal strength. Methods Four hundred eyes of people aged 46~75 with clear fundus image,no obvious fundus diseases, and satisfactory optical coherence tomography were classified according to their ages and signal strength. The peripapillary and 4 quadrants of RNFL were detect-ed with OCT. Results In satisfactory OCT images ,the signal strength that reached 4/10 and 7/10 was 1.5% and 27% respectively. Under low and moderate signal strength ,the maximum thickness of RNFL was at the superior and inferior, and the minimum thickness of RNFL was at the nasal and temporal. There were no significant differ-ences in RNFL thickness under low or moderate signal strength. Conclusion RNFL results are reliable under low and moderate signal strength.

Objective To evaluate the appropriateness of hospitalization days at a tertiary hospital in 2014 by means of the Appropriateness Evaluation Protocol ( AEP ) , and to analyze the causes of inappropriate stays. Methods Medical records of inpatients admitted at a tertiary hospital in 2014 were randomly selected. AEP( US version) was used to evaluate the appropriateness of every hospitalization day, while the causes of inappropriate hospitalization day were also analyzed. Results A total of 1 641 days of stay from 148 medical records were reviewed, and 129 days of stay (7. 9%) were seen as inappropriate. Two major factors for inappropriate stays were waiting for surgery and waiting for test, roughly 89. 1% of the inappropriate hospitalization days. The proportion of inappropriate hospital stays reduced to 4. 8% after adjustment of two-day weekend. Inappropriate hospital stays mostly appeared during the second day to the eighth day after admission(93. 8%). Logistic analysis results showed that with concomitant symptoms, preoperative waiting days > 5 days, high level surgery, non-emergency admission were significantly associated with appropriateness of hospital stays (P<0. 05). Conclusions The rate of inappropriate stays will be reduced and the quality of medical services will be improved if comprehensive measures could be carried out according to the causes of inappropriate stays.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2012;47(3):332-338
Now the layer-by-layer self-assembling (LbL) technique has become an attention-getting reparative methodology for ultrathin film formation. Many scientists in different academic areas including bioengieering, medical science, drug controlled release, optoelectronics dive into this technology. Among of them, carriers with structures which can be flexibly controlled are more useful since functional structure units can be assembled in layer-by-layer fashion, which is simplicity, chemical mildness, concealment, can achieve targeted drug delivery and so on. In this review, we have discussed the advantage, development, influential factors and applications of LbL. We have focused on reviewing the applications and perspective of nanoparticles, microgels and capsules were both fabricated via the LbL assembling at drug delivery.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of 308-nm excimer light in the treatment of stable vitiligo. Methods Thirty patients with stable vitiligo were enrolled in this clinical trial. All the subjects received the treatment with 308-nm excimer light on a twice-weekly schedule for 3 months. Results The repigmentation rate was 95.0%, 75.0% and 66.7% for lesions in the face and neck, trunk and limbs, with the treatment sessions averaging 10.22 ± 1.60, 19.10 ± 2.38, 37.74 ± 3.06, respectively, and accumulative irradiation dose averaging 7.50 ± 3.45, 10.60 ± 1.01, 18.56 ± 3.05 J/cm2 respectively. Significant differences were observed in the repigmentation rate and treatment sessions between the lesions in the face and neck, trunk and limbs (all P < 0.05). No severe side effects were seen during the treatment. Conclusion 308-nm excimer light is effective and safe for the treatment of vitiligo.
